Also, many thanks to everyone who bought me coffee (*≧∀≦*)

Xiao Heng attentively served the little troublemaker, giving him a thorough bubble bath and even finishing up with a full-body massage—topped off with a generous application of baby powder from the little medicine chest.

“Here, here, and here too!”

“Wow, I smell so nice!”

"I'm going to let JiaoJiao smell me, JiaoJiao loves me the most!"

Xiao Heng: Nonsense, she obviously loves me more.

Gu Jiao was also taking a bath and couldn’t be seen for the time being.

A certain fair and plump little winter melon rolled onto the bed, propped his head up with one hand, struck a reclining Buddha pose, and said with exaggerated flair, “Ah Heng~ Bring me some tea.”

Xiao Heng: You’re begging for a beating.

Little Jing Kong was dangerously testing his limits, completely unaware that his bad brother-in-law's gaze was growing more and more dangerous.

After his bath, he felt utterly refreshed, and didn’t push his luck for long before flopping backward and dozing off.

The day was breezy and pleasantly cool.

Xiao Heng called over a disciple from the Imperial Advisor's Hall to keep an eye on Little Jing Kong.

The corridor on the right side of the Qilin Hall was a somewhat special area, with no unrelated individuals staying there. The room closest to the operating room belonged to Shangguan Yan and Gu Jiao, while Xiao Heng occupied the adjacent one.

The room across the hall was empty. Xiao Heng had the disciple of the Imperial Advisor's Hall clean it up and prepare it for Gu Jiao.

As Xiao Heng reached the door of the room and was about to raise his hand to knock, the door was pulled open from the inside.

Gu Jiao had just finished her bath. She had changed into a dry, long shirt styled for a young man. Her damp hair cascaded loosely over her shoulders and back, with a few strands resting on her forehead.

Droplets of water trembled delicately on the tips of her hair, sparkling like crystals and reflecting countless lights.

Her jet-black hair looked incredibly glossy, which made her skin appear as smooth and flawless as jade.

Even her long lashes carried tiny droplets, and her moist, bright eyes glistened beneath them. Her lips, soft and flushed, shimmered with a dewy hue.

Xiao Heng’s throat moved slightly.

Gu Jiao smiled at him.

Realizing his lapse, Xiao Heng cleared his throat awkwardly and said, “I came to check on you. May I come in?”

Gu Jiao stepped aside, allowing Xiao Heng to enter.

Xiao Heng closed the door behind him, walked over to the table, poured himself a large cup of cold tea, and drank it down in one go. Only then did he feel some of the heat in his chest subside.

He turned to Gu Jiao. “You didn’t dry your hair again.”

“Oh.” Gu Jiao replied casually. “"It's hot. It'll dry soon enough."

She walked over to a small table by the window and opened her little medicine chest.

Seeing her take out a jar of ointment, Xiao Heng asked, “Are you hurt?”

Gu Jiao shook her head, "No, I was just bitten by a few mosquitoes." The mosquitoes in the forest were particularly vicious—she hadn't felt them when they bit her, but noticed several large welts after her bath.

“Did Jing Kong get bitten?” She asked.

“He’s fine, just a few tiny red spots.” Xiao Heng said as he grabbed a cotton pad and walked over to her. "Let me see. Where did you get bitten?"

Gu Jiao tilted her head back, pointing to her neck, "Here." Then she rolled up her sleeve and pointed to her wrist. "And here."

She was completely nonchalant, purely intending to show where the mosquito bites were.

But Xiao Heng’s mind flashed with unspeakable thoughts.

When he thought about it, it had indeed been far too long since they were alone together. Even though she had changed into a young man’s robe and had a boyish voice, as long as she was still herself, his heart couldn't suppress certain impulses.

“You…” Gu Jiao stared at him blankly.

Xiao Heng lowered his gaze. “Let me help you apply the ointment.”

“Alright.” Gu Jiao handed him the cotton swab and the ointment.

Xiao Heng leaned down, dipped the swab in the ointment, and carefully dabbed it onto the mosquito bites, one spot at a time.

He tried to clear his mind, but someone wasn’t making it easy for him.

"Lord Xiao, your heart is beating so fast." Gu Jiao said, her hand resting on his chest.

She had taken a cold bath, so her hands were cool, but when they touched him, his heart felt as though it was on fire.

He grabbed her wrist and sighed helplessly. “Gu JiaoJiao, if you keep this up, I won’t be able to focus on applying the ointment.”

Gu Jiao: “Oh.”

Xiao Heng let go of her hand and continued applying the ointment.

Gu Jiao stopped moving her hands and just stared at him, her gaze fixed on him, unwavering.

Then Xiao Heng heard the sound of her swallowing.

Xiao Heng: “…”

Applying ointment was an ordinary, mundane task, but under such circumstances, it had turned into something very intimate.

The atmosphere suddenly became charged with ambiguity.

Xiao Heng took a deep breath, pulled her hand over calmly, rolled up her sleeve, and meticulously applied the ointment to every bite.

He finished the process slowly and methodically, maintaining a steady and composed demeanor throughout.

But just as he placed the ointment back on the table and threw the cotton swab into the bin, he suddenly cupped the back of Gu Jiao’s neck with one hand and leaned down, capturing her lips in a deep kiss.

He had been so composed earlier, almost like a meditating monk, that Gu Jiao thought he wouldn’t make any moves.

This sudden action was so bold it made Gu Jiao’s heart skip a beat before his overwhelming assertiveness completely consumed her.

He had really grown up, hadn't he? Do all men learn this kind of thing instinctively?

He’s now *too* good at it…

Today wasn’t particularly hot, and a cool breeze drifted through the room, making it quite pleasant.

“Your Highness, I’ve brought some sliced fruit—ah! I didn’t see anything!”

Yu He immediately covered his eyes with one hand, awkwardly turning around while still holding the tray.

He hesitated before deciding to blindly stumble forward, placing the tray of fruit on the table. Then, with his eyes still shut, he hurriedly tried to leave, accidentally bumping into the wall.

After fumbling his way out the door, Yu He said as he gently closed the door behind him, “You two, just… continue!”.

Gu Jiao chuckled.

Xiao Heng’s ears turned slightly red.

With a half-smile, Gu Jiao looked at him and teased, “Do you think Xiao Qing will want to punch you when he finds out?”

To be caught kissing a man in broad daylight by an Imperial Advisor’s Hall disciple—it was nineteen years of innocence ruined in an instant.

“We’ll deal with that when he gets back.” Xiao Heng replied, his ears still red. He lifted her delicate chin and leaned down to kiss her again.

PLEASE CHECK OUT OUR NEW PROJECT:

Description:

In the suspenseful supernatural novel “Records of Mortals,” Jiang Baiyan, once a solitary and impoverished youth, finds refuge in the Shi family of Chang’an due to his extraordinary bloodline. With his clear and captivating peach blossom eyes, this seemingly innocent young man conceals a fanatical and malevolent lunatic within. Destined to succumb to darkness amidst hardship and degradation, he becomes a harbinger of chaos.

When Shi Dai suddenly transmigrates, she takes on the role of the Shi family’s young lady, the one who subjects him to countless trials, eventually leading to her demise.

The twist? She never got to finish reading the novel.

From what she knew of the plot, Jiang Baiyan was just a silent, timid, and often bullied pitiable character.

***

Jiang Baiyan had never encountered someone like Shi Dai.

After he had slaughtered all the evil creatures in the garden, the blood-stained young man, exuding a murderous aura, approached her step by step, his lips curling into a malicious smile, "Scared?"

Shi Dai responded, “You’re really amazing! I applaud you until I spin like a spiral and fly around the moon three hundred times! And also——you have dimples when you smile!"

Jiang Baiyan: ...?

After seeing her at a lantern festival with another man, Jiang Baiyan lowered his eyes, his fingers twirling her hair. He said in a mocking and sinister tone, "The mansion in the western suburbs...if I hide you there, no one will find you, right?"

Shi Dai replied, "Does it come with meals and lodging? Can I sleep in everyday? Oh, and your cooking is the best!"

Jiang Baiyan: ...?

Jiang Baiyan was supposed to dislike her, even hate her, but as their separation drew near, his eyes turned red and he grabbed her sleeve, pleading, "Don't abandon me, alri—”

Shi Dai responded, "Alright, alright, I’ll only have you. Mwah."

Jiang Baiyan: ...?

He hasn't finished his lines yet though…
