The Hero of Hypnosis

Chapter 500: It’s a trap!

Chapter 500: It’s a trap!

One of the sword sect members recognized the woman approaching them and stepped forward.

"I remember knocking on your door a few hours ago. What brings you here now?" She asked

"Him." The woman nodded to her servant.

"Your servant?"

"That’s right. After you all went door to door, asking if we knew anything about the traitors, I found him acting suspiciously. At first, I thought he was simply scared, you know how these fragile men are. But then, when it was time to head to bed, I was waiting for him to pleasure me, but he never came. So, I left my room to scold him, and that’s when I found this." She tossed the Sect members a talisman.

Their eyes widened. "A communication talisman!"

"That’s right. It didn’t seem like he was powerful or anything because he tried to run instead of fight. But as you can see, I caught him. But that’s not all. He had this on him as well." She handed the sect members a skull-shaped charm.

"This is a demonic protection charm. We’ve found many members of the brotherhood carry them. Lock this man up immediately and prepare for questioning. Ma’am, you did the right thing reporting this to us."

She shook her head. "No, it’s only natural. I do not wish to go back to the days when those...animals ruled. Things are better this way."

The Sect member nodded. "I agree."

---

The man was taken to the prison in the sword sect, where he was roughed up for a bit and then questioned.

"Tell me where your companions are!"

"I-I don’t know! I swear! We aren’t allowed to know the locations of each other in case one of us is compromised. All we know is that there are multiple members of our brotherhood here!"

The sect member nodded as that aligned with information she had learned a while ago on a mission before Kai had arrived on the continent.

"What is your goal? Besides trying to destroy us. We know that already."

"I-I can’t—"

The man was kicked in the belly while trying to keep his mouth shut about the plans his brotherhood had.

"Speak, or we’ll do far worse things than beat you up." She pointed her sword toward his nuts.

"Eeeek! O-Okay! I-I’ll talk! We were ordered to place small orbs around the city that will go off remotely when ready. O-Our forces are waiting in the canyon for the go-ahead to invade the capital. O-Once we take the capital, capturing the other towns and cities will be easy since you all wouldn’t be in our way."

"Hmmm." She sat on this information for a solid five minutes before formulating a plan on what to do next.

"You, inform the Sect Leader of this information and have a team scour the city to find these orbs. I’ll take a squad to the Canyon to purge these demon bastards."

"Understood."

"As for you," She stepped forward. "You’re no longer needed." She killed the man without any hesitation.

---

Members of the sword sect made their way to the canyon, riding on their swords to the location. When they arrived, they clearly saw signs of human activity, as there were campfires that had been put out not too long ago, and tents that were still up.

"Looks abandoned." One of them observed.

"But only recently. See, there’s still smoke coming from the campfire. This means that they left not too long ago."

"I found footprints!" One member shouted

All of them rushed over to the spot where the footprints were located and followed it until they split up.

"That’s odd."

"Indeed. Why would they split up?"

"Maybe to deter us? Or forcing us to choose who to follow?"

"That would make sense, but the thing is that we’re surrounded by this large canyon. The path doesn’t even split for miles."

"It’s a trap!"

Just then, hundreds of arrows coated in demonic energy rained down on the women, forcing them on the defensive.

They dodged, parried, and cut through the arrows, but some of them still landed. Thankfully, they missed vital spots because of the fluid movements of the women, but being injured was still something they wanted to avoid.

"I’ll give us cover!" She rubbed her fingers along the flat side of her blade, then held it in the air. Blue light flashed, flying into the air, and a disk of Ki burst out in a circular formation, destroying parts of the canyon where the arrows were coming from.

"Now! Run!"

They all got on their swords and dashed out of the canyon. It was imperative that they relay this information to the Empress.

However, as they drew closer to the exit, a purple energy shield blocked their path. So, they changed directions, going up instead, but the same thing awaited them.

When they turned around, an army of over 300 men, all with the ability to use demoninc energy, were waiting for the 6 of them.

"Don’t think you’ll be able to take us down easily!" The sect members weren’t going down without a fight.

"Hahaha! Do you six believe that you can take 300 of us on? Be real." A man stepped forward, the leader of this bunch.

"Even if we don’t defeat this army, all we need is to capture you!" This woman surged forward, stabbing her sword forward, which made multiple jabbing strikes materialize around her blade.

The leader blocked the attack, getting slightly injured, but he managed to push her back with a palm technique coated in demonic energy.

Coming from behind their companion, the other five women attacked, catching some of them off guard, taking their lives.

"You’ll pay for that!" The leader of this brotherhood branch growled

"We’ll see about that!"

They engaged in a life-threatening battle that went on for hours. The women were clearly more powerful and more skilled, but the demonic energy did take a toll on their bodies, tiring them out sooner than normal.

One of the girls lost their life due to this, not able to hold on any longer. This made the sect members attack more ferociously, but then another lost their life, and another, and another until there were only two left.

"I’ll clear a path, you retreat and inform the Empress about what happened here!"

"Understood!"

She charged up her most powerful attack, a simple sword swing that held tons of Ki, and cut through the barrier blocking them from escaping, allowing her companion to head back to the capital.

Unfortunately, she was now out of Ki, and she lost her life soon after.

Even then, they still took out 250 of the 300 men, leaving only 50 alive with heavy injuries and in critical condition.
