Chapter 510: The Demigod Carliodas

Reality was a funny thing because when Kai killed Carliodas, what the guy said was actually true. Both Kai and Telia watched as her brother’s soul left his body, then disappeared. Normally, the soul would enter the reincarnation cycle, but back on Windonia, Carliodas’s body reformed thanks to progenitor decay, and he became a demigod.

"Wow. He wasn’t joking. Usually, the bad guys lie just to stay alive. But no, he was being one hundred percent honest. This is a first." Kai was actually impressed

"We don’t have time to be shocked! He’s going to attack the kingdom! We need to head back, now!"

"Ahh, right. Yorrigan, send us away!" Nothing happened

"Telia, we might be stuck."

"What?! I thought you could travel between realms at will?!"

"Heh, I can, I was just fucking with you." He teleported them both back.

"Huuf! Hah! Huff!" Carlotta was running for her life as she was being chased by the hidden sect who were close on her tail. She swung her sword back, a slash of ki cutting through the plants, trees, and branches that stood in the attack’s path.

Going into the forest was an idea she thought would allow her to escape the hidden sect members, but she should have known that they actually thrive in this type of environment.

"Fucking cockroaches! Get off my tail!" Turning around while still making her escape, Carlotta held her first two fingers close to her nose on one hand, and on the other hand, she did the same motion, except her hand was in the air above her head.

"Sword art, wheel of blades!" The ki around her body shifted, then transformed into hundreds of blades, all spinning as if they were a wheel. She then extended her raised hand forward, and the wheel of blades attacked her pursuers, causing large amounts of destruction.

’That should keep them busy for now.’

A clearing appeared before Carlotta, and she was nearly out of the forest. The moment she left the tree swamp behind, she was kicked in the side and tumbled until her momentum stopped.

"Going somewhere?" Valera asked. She had met up with the squad, hunting down Carlotta to make sure she was captured.

"Clearly, you fucking idiot." Standing back up, she readied her blade.

The remaining hidden sect members arrived and readied their weapons as well.

"Tell me, why did you betray us? Our home? Our people! You were one of our best!" Valera shouted, angered that she, of all people, could do such a thing.

"Don’t make me laugh! Our society thrives on exploiting men! I don’t even care about them being servants, but they should at least be treated like people! Instead, they are sent to breeding camps, forced into labor at the mines, and some are even assigned as servants the moment they are born!"

"Some of those are if they commit a crime." Valera clarified.

"Really? Because my little brother didn’t commit a crime! He was a sweet boy, but one woman took a fancy to him. Since he wasn’t our servant, he was taken by her and became her breeding toy. I could see the pain she was putting him through, and I couldn’t even help him. He died, giving that woman 20 daughters, and none of them even appreciate or care for him. He was used, abused, and tossed to the side once he became useless."

"And you think joining the brotherhood will change that?!"

"They will change that!" She lunged at Valera, forcing her to block the attack with her daggers.

Valera pushed her off, throwing one dagger at Carlotta. Dodging, Carlotta thrust her sword at Valera’s face, but one hidden sect member caught Valera’s blade that was dodged and threw it back at Carlotta.

"Tsk!" She had to jump out of the way, leaving herself open for a kick to the gut from Valera and a binding seal being placed on her dantian.

The other members then wrapped a thin metallic thread around Carlotta’s body and tugged at it to keep her restrained.

"Your loss is unfortunate, but what you did is not the answer to your problems. For that, you will be thrown into the dungeons and face a punishment befitting your crimes."

"Hahaha! It’s too late anyway. Lord Caliodas will be back, and when he returns, all of Windonia will submit to his rule!"

Just then, the sky darkened, and purple lightning crackled in the black clouds. Massive amounts of demonic energy filled the air, making it hard to breathe.

"Hahahaha! He’s here! He’s here to deliver us to a better tomorrow! You all will die, and your blood will be the stepping stones of our future!"

Valera had a grim look on her face.

"Captain, what should we do?"

Valera didn’t hesitate. "We return to the capital."

"And Carlotta?"

Looking at the crazy woman, Calera cut off her head, not caring to deal with her anymore.

"There are more important things to worry about now, and defending the kingdom is one of them. We’ll regroup with our sect and see what orders the sect master has for us."

"Understood." They all made their way back to the capital, leaving Carlotta’s body to rot.

Back in the castle, Telia returned and called the members of her court for an emergency meeting. Everyone arrived, and when they heard the news, their faces became grim.

As if waiting for this moment, all of them saw the sky turn black, and purple lightning began to strike the land in random locations, and demonic energy started to fill the air.

"That bastard is preparing to wipe us out!" Telia gripped the armrest of her chair, nearly destroying it.

"Listen up, I want all of the major and minor sects to prepare for a full-scale invasion. Head out to all of the towns and villages to protect them from any danger that might come their way. I will handle the main threat of this invasion. Regardless of what happens, today will be an important day in history. We will either triumph together or fall together. Let’s move!"
