Chapter 537: Demonica, Land of the Demonic Humans
Chapter 537: Demonica, Land of the Demonic Humans
Kai had said his goodbyes to his family and headed to Demonica with Torrigan. He didn’t want to leave or progress with this quest because it meant being away from his family. He couldn’t even bring his women because they were too weak.
Even if they weren’t, Kai still wouldn’t have brought them because he didn’t like the idea of them fighting against his brother and potentially getting hurt by him.
Another reason why he didn’t bring them was that Leo wasn’t going to be helping Kai from this point on. He did tell him that the Aion that’s here is not the real one, and the real Aion is slowly breaking out of his prison.
Leo told Kai that once he beat the fake Leo, he would take him to Divinity City, where he would begin his Primordial training.
Kai wasn’t looking forward to that because he didn’t wish to leave his family, but he had no choice in this matter.
"Are you okay?" Torrigan asked
"No. I already miss everyone. This sucks."
"I understand what you mean. I love seeing my sisters and visiting them all the time."
"Is Demonica on the ocean or in the sky?"
"It’s on the ocean."
He nodded.
Kai had telepored them back to Windonia so they wouldn’t need to fly all the way around the world, and they were already halfway to Demonica.
As usual, the ocean was full of monsters and nasty creatures that attacked them when they flew too close. Since Kai wasn’t in the mood to play around, he killed them all without any mercy or even cracking a joke.
The ocean boiled upon feeling the might of his power, but the hole he created was quickly filled as it was opened.
"There it is, Demonica."
When Kai took his first look at the continent, he saw what Torrigan was talking about, how the land was merged with the demon world. It was amazing.
Of course, it wasn’t merged with the entire demon world, but the demon lands that were underneath Demonica or whatever the place was called before the merge.
The only thing that was making Demonica look less appealing than the other continents was the raging fire that was burning the place, alongside the destroyed buildings and dead bodies everywhere.
"Your home was decimated." Kai expressed feeling sorry for the people there.
"Yes. And I couldn’t do a thing to stop it. I am weak, and I hate this feeling."
"Don’t sweat it. I’m here now." Kai tried to cheer Torrigan up, and while she did smile, it didn’t make her feel better.
She was thankful that Kai was here, and she knew that he would absolutely be able to help her, but she had lost a lot already. Even if Kai beat Aion, that wouldn’t bring back the people who died.
"What’s that?" It was faint, but Kai did see multiple energy walls splitting the continent into sections.
"What’s what?"
"Do you not see it? Those energy walls or barriers? They’re splitting the continent into sections. There are four energy walls. It seems like the final wall is between that fancy housing area and the castle."
"I don’t see anything. And I didn’t encounter any walls or barriers that blocked me from fleeing."
Kai didn’t understand how she couldn’t see the barriers. Torrigan was a demon queen, meaning she was a god, so even if it were a barrier only the divine could see, she should still be able to see it.
"I’ll check it out." He took off toward the wall, moving so fast that Torrigan couldn’t keep up one bit.
When he landed, he could see the barrier clearly. It was a clear, humming energy barrier with red energy pulsing from it in intervals.
"Haah, you move r-really fast!" She finally caught up and needed to catch her breath.
"I wonder." Kai touched the barrier, and an electrifying energy shot up his arm, causing him to jerk back, and his arm exploded off his body."
"Argh! Nngh! What the fuck?!" His arm quickly regenerated, and the pain went away; however, Kai knew what the barrier was made out of.
"Are you okay?!" Upon seeing his arm get blown off, Torrigan rushed to his side to make sure he was okay.
"I’m fine. However, that barrier is Primordial Decay. I don’t know how, but it affects me negatively. That shouldn’t be the case one bit."
He wanted to think that Leo did something, but he threw away that thought. Kai naturally had resistance against the energy, so this had to be something else, a more powerful variant or a different type of Progenitor Decay.
"Is this where the wall is?" Torrigan asked
"Yes. Can you still not see it?"
She shook her head. "I cannot. Do you think I will get hurt like you if I stick my hand through it?"
"Dunno. You said you didn’t encounter this wall, so maybe it wont affect you."
And his guess was correct. Torrigan put her hand through the barrier, and nothing happened.
"Maybe it’s only affecting you?"
Kai nodded, thinking the same thing.
"If I had to guess, he’s keeping me isolated to test my abilities. Like a video game, I’ll have to beat each level before reaching the boss." At least that’s what he theorized.
"So what do you do? What do we do?"
Kai looked down, then looked back up. He used his super vision to look past the barrier and into the castle, where he saw Aion smiling, looking right back at him.
He expected his older brother to already know that he was here and to be aware of his situation, so seeing Aion staring at him wasn’t unexpected.
’Go on, little brother, struggle for me.’
Kai frowned and started taking off his pants.
’WHAT THE FUCK ARE YOU DOING!?’ Aion stopped looking at Kai and even deactivated his power so he wouldn’t even sense him.
"That’s right bitch, stop staring at me, fucking perv." This made Kai feel a lot better, and he couldn’t wait to rip his brother apart.
"Come on, I know what we need to do."
