Chapter 538: The first Trial
Chapter 538: The first Trial
Kai actually had no idea where he was going, but he knew what he had to do. He could sense multiple divine individuals present in Demonica, and between each barrier was an even greater divine individual.
"What do you need to do?" Torrigan asked, not knowing that Kai had going on in his brain.
"I have to beat the enemies who are within this barrier. They are part of this trial I’m facing."
"Trial?"
"Yes. My father is having me go through trials in order to become a primordial god, or I guess return to that state since I was born as one already."
Torrigan nodded. She didn’t quite understand what he meant, but she understood it to a degree.
"Do you know what your trials are?"
"No. But if I had to assume, my first trial will be saving Demonica. My second trial will be for me to become a primordial. And my third and final trial will be for me to fully kill my brother."
Torrigan shifted upon hearing that last part. She had heard it before already, but it still bugged her. As a sibling, she was extremely close to her sisters and couldn’t imagine killing them. So hearing that Kai had to kill his brother really made her feel sorry for him.
"That must be rough."
He shrugged. "Meh, not really. I don’t even know the guy that well. When we first met, he tried to kill me, so now I’m going to kill him instead. Besides, I have two sisters, apparently, and they are cool, at least that’s what Leo told me. I also have a lot of lower divine siblings with my father’s concubines or whatever. I don’t know or care to be honest."
"You should be close to your sisters."
"Why, because you’re close to your sisters?"
"Yes."
"What if they are bitches and hate me?"
"Then you don’t need to be close to them. Sisters can be mean at times."
"Really? I wouldn’t know. I never had any siblings growing up. And when I did find out I had some, well, you already know the rest."
"Yeah, sisters are great!"
Just then, a divine arrow flew toward the back of Kai’s head, and on instinct, he swatted it away with ease.
"We’re under attack?!" Torrigan pulled out her weapon, a large serrated curved blade that was made out of a material that amplified mana or demonic energy.
"No, it’s just some stray demigods trying to test how powerful I am." The space shifted around Kai, and he appeared behind the demigods.
"Did it feel nice to shoot an arrow at the back of my head?"
"WHAT THE FUCK?!" The demigod turned around and blasted Kai in the face. He jumped back to put some distance between the two of them, his friends following, and prepared to fight Kai.
"That wasn’t nice at all."
The demigod didn’t even notice Kai standing ontop his head as he felt as light as a feather.
The demigod looked up, but Kai was already in front of the man with his hand through his chest.
"H-How?!" The demigod bled through his mouth, then dropped dead after Kai destroyed his divine soul.
"You’re asking how you weren’t able to do anything against a Titan?"
The other demigods froze upon learning that Kai was a titan. They didn’t sign up to fight against a titan.
"Y-You’re a titan?"
"That’s right. Still want to fight?" He smirked
"P-Please spare us! A-Aion forced us to attack you! He said that you’re a demigod, and if we can kill you, he would not only grant us godhood, but also spare our world from destruction."
"Is this true?" Kai asked the other demigod
"Y-Yes! It is! Please spare us! We will do anything!"
"Hmmmm. Okay, how many demigods are here?"
"A-Around 1,000."
"And you three are the only ones who attacked me?"
The woman demigod nodded. "Yes. We wanted to end this right away and return home."
Kai nodded. "I see. So this means only the three of you know that I’m a Titan."
"Y-Yes!"
A smirk riddled Kai’s face as he pointed his hand toward the two of them. "Let’s keep it that way."
"W-Wait! Please spare us! Ple—"
Kai obliterated the two of them, leaving nothing left. He returned to Torrigan and continued walking with her.
"Handled your business?" She asked
"Yup. There’s a bunch of demigods around this area, around a thousand. I’ll have to kill them all in order to progress to the next barrier."
She nodded. "You’re going to kill them all right now?"
"No. I’m going to save your people first. Since I can’t cross between the barriers, I’ll have to save them barrier by barrier, starting here first. Is there a safe house or a location where we can go that is completely hidden from everywhere else? A place where the survivors would go in case of a situation like this?"
Torrigan answered immediately, pointing in the direction where they needed to go.
"Keep traveling along this road, and you’ll find a secret passageway that leads to a pocket dimension that can house everyone on the continent. It was built by Nox and me for times like these."
Kai was impressed. "The entire continent’s population can fit in the dimension? That’s fucking rad. Usually, I would expect rulers to allow for at most a fourth of the population to enter the pocket dimension, and they would be the important people."
"Heh, as a demon, it was imperative that I treat everyone fairly, no matter what. If I didn’t, then the harmony that exists in the kingdom today wouldn’t be a thing."
"Valid."
They arrived at the place, and Torrigan placed her hand on the wall, and the pocket dimension opened.
At first, there was only a bright white light, but after a bit, Kai was able to see that everything was...the same. Like, there was no difference at all.
Scratch that, there was a difference. First of all, no barriers. Second, no destruction, and third, a shit ton of people were there, humans and demons alike.
"This is just the kingdom, but as a pocket dimension!"
"Duh, what did you expect? An open field or something?"
"Uhh, yes!"
