Chapter 563 563: Aion's past and home

Leo showed Kai what Aion had done in the past. Every event that Kai had witnessed was filled with destruction, pain, chaos, and more destruction. There was even a smile on his face as he caused the destruction of multiple civilizations.

He scoured the universe to find a piece of the spark so he could have the power to shape it into his own image. He hated how laid back and how hands-off Leo was when it came to managing the universe, so he took matters into his own hands.

Leo didn't stop his son either. In truth, he didn't care. From the time he came into existence up to Aion's rampage, countless worlds and civilizations had risen and fallen, so he wasn't affected by the loss.

With a wave of his hand, he could bring back anyone or anything that he wanted, but he didn't because he saw this as a natural cycle.

However, things changed when Aion got his brothers involved. When all of them learned about the spark and the cosmic reset, they turned against Leo and Cassie, creating a rebellion that didn't end well for them.

Aion didn't wish to be erased by the cosmic reset, and he also wanted control over the universe; it was his birthright. He wouldn't allow anyone to stand in his way, but unfortunately for him, he ended up losing.

"Aion wanted to shape the universe in his own image. He planned on causing a cosmic reset himself." Kai concluded based on everything he had seen.

"Exactly. After learning about it from his mother, Aion went on a conquest to find a piece of the spark, not knowing that it was me and something only I can give out. So, when he couldn't find it, he started wiping out planets and their people on his own."

"Honestly, you're a pretty shitty ruler, haha."

Leo frowned. "Why do you think that?"

"Seriously? You can just swat the dude away like a fly, restore the planets that were destroyed by blinking. But tell me, what did you do?"

Leo didn't answer. A part of the reason why he wanted Kai to grow up around mortals was for him to learn and think like them. As a deity, especially one who created everything, he didn't really see life the same way mortals did.

"I can see why you would say something like that."

"Don't get me wrong, though. I definitely understand why you did nothing." Kai added.

"And what is it that you understand?"

"You're a deity. Oh no, Aion killed mortals, who cares? They'll come back and repopulate like crazy once again. Besides, I'm sure you've seen countless of them rise and fall. That doesn't change, no matter the reason for their fall."

"Ahh, good job, you're learning." Leo was proud.

"But you're still a shitty leader. This is your kingdom. I'd be dammed if I let some loser, even if it's my own son, ruin what I've built. Aion wants to play? When I'll play. I'll rip that bastard's soul out of his stupid body and erase him from existence!"

"Uhh, you okay, man?"

Kai nodded. "Peachy."

After learning what Aion's true goal was. Leo called Clarisse back so she could teach Kai how be a proper primordial. He would have to undergo trials, train as if his life depended on it, and fully grow into his power.

"I will be placing you two and a large part of the universe under timedilation. Years would pass by for you, but on the outside, barely any time would pass at all. Aion is slowly breaking out of his prison, and his followers are gearing up to help him with his conquest. Don't take too long."

"Sure, sure. Whatever." Kai brushed Leo away and followed Clarisse to a planet that was a few light-years away.

When they arrived and entered the planet's atmosphere, Kai saw that the place was a natural paradise. The planet was beautiful, the scenery was the best he had ever seen, and upon finding its civilization, Kai was stunned by their ancient Greek-Egyptian-Roman style. It was shocking to see all three styles at once, but as a mythology nerd, he loved this place already.

"Oh yeah, I'm moving here after everything is over." Kai could already see where he would make his house and life with his family.

"This is Aion's planet."

Kai's entire mood changed. His radiant eyes were now filled with malice, and his hands balled up into fists.

"Aion's world?"

"That's right. As a primordial, it's normal to have planets that you rule. Our power doesn't come from faith and believers, but if we have them, then we'll become more powerful."

"I see."

The reason for Clarisse taking Kai here was obvious. She wanted to see what Kai would do. Would he kill innocents out of the hatred he had for his brother, or would he let these people live? It was a trial to test his, for lack of a better word, humanity.

"What will you do? This is your first trial. Take all the time you need, and don't rush to find an answer. Think about your actions, the consequences, and form a conclusion in your head. Meditate on it."

"Let me ask you something first."

"Go ahead."

"This isn't a trick, right? Like, these people actually worship Aion? Because if you're just fucking with my head, then I will stop everything and leave, not even attempting to fight against Aion."

Clarisse shook her head. "All of the trials you will face are not tricks in the slightest. They are real. I will also tell you if you passed or failed after the trial is over."

"Okay, good. Then I don't need to meditate on this matter, because anyone who worships that disgusting brother of mine," Kai raised a finger, charging up energy that even made Clarisse sweat.

"Automatically forfeits their lives." Kai rained down divine energy onto the civilization, slaughtering everyone in sight. He watched as his energy beams cut through the people, separating families, and did all of this with a smile on his face.

Kai saw this one man on the ground, praying to Aion, begging for his aid. So, Kai did the unthinkable. He made a clone of himself in the form of Aion, watching as the people's faces lit up with hope, then crushed it immediately.

With words that were intertwined with hypnosis, Kai spoke. "Kill everyone that you see, and when you're the last person standing, kill yourself."

And so, the people started killing themselves and each other. And if that wasn't cruel enough, Kai made sure all of them were aware of their actions until every single person on the planet was dead.

"How cruel." Clarisse shook her head, disappointed in Kai's actions. "You failed this trial."

"Oh, please. Don't give me that bullshit. If there is one thing that you should know about me, it's that I don't let anyone who crosses me live. I killed an entire clan because one of their members thought it was nice to talk shit about me. These guys are Aion worshipers. Do you hear that? Aion worshipers? Even that sounds horrible."

"You were expected to teach them, better them, and inform them. Not kill them."

"Boo-hoo. Go cry somewhere else. Do you think I should fight against Aion with poetry? Sing him a song so he can understand the horrible things he has done? Maybe show him some baby pictures to remind him of when he wasn't such a dick?"

Deep down, Clarisse knew that what Kai did and what he was saying was the truth. However, Kai was showing cruelty when he didn't need to, and that was how Aion was when he was young.

"I trained Aion when he was young. And I saw how he turned out. I don't want you to turn out like him, not when your father put so much faith in you."

Kai frowned. "I don't give a fuck. I don't care to rule, to restart the universe, to build it in my own image. Leo wants me by his side, and I don't mind being by his side. He's my best friend, so I want to help, but that doesn't mean I like the situation. So, whatever needs to be done so all of this can end, I will do it. And if that means I have to kill people in the process,"

Kai fired a beam into the planet's core, destroying the entire world. "Then I won't hesitate to do so."

Clarisse sighed. Having that level of strength was a good thing, mentally. But she hoped it wouldn't lead him down the same path as his older brother. The reason why she was so cautious about how Kai would turn out was that she didn't know him for a long time.

She knew how Aion was, knew how he saw the universe, so the comparisons she made were only natural. When she saw a glimpse of Aion in Kai's actions, her heart would ache. The pain of watching your student fall was like losing a family member.

"Clarisse. I'm not my brother, and I never will be."

She didn't answer right away, needing to take a deep breath before she did. "I hope so."
