Chapter 1029: Ethan’s Visit to the Corvayne Family (1)
Slap!
A slap landed across the face of a fifteen-year-old girl.
"Didn’t I already tell you!? Don’t show your face in front of me!"
Elena yelled angrily and was about to pounce on her when the maids hurriedly stopped her.
"L-Lady, please don’t hurt Young Lady Leona!" one of the maids pleaded.
"Let me go! I’ll slap her again and again!"
But the maids wouldn’t let her. No matter how hard Elena struggled, she couldn’t reach Leona.
"Take Lady Elena back," one of them ordered.
The others nodded and dragged Elena away.
"You bastards! Let me go! I’m going to teach that girl a lesson! Let me go!"
Elena’s screams echoed through the area, but the maids still refused to let her go.
Once she was out of sight, the maids helped Leona to her feet.
"Young Lady Leona, are you okay? How about I—"
Before she could finish, she quickly covered her mouth. Leona was in terrible shape. Asking, "Are you okay?" was obviously a stupid question.
"I’ll take you to the infirmary. Please, follow me."
Leona shook her head while rubbing the right side of her face.
"It’s fine. You go back to work."
The maid furrowed her brow, about to say something, but Leona had already turned and walked away, leaving the maid standing there in a dilemma.

Leona walked over to a tree near the garden and sat down beneath it. She leaned against the trunk and let out a long sigh.
Winter was almost here. The northern region, which was always covered in snow, would only get colder from now on.
"It hurts so much... damn it," she growled in frustration.
She rubbed her reddened cheek. Elena’s slap had been no joke. She had put all her strength into it.
Leona reached into her pocket and pulled out a special ointment she had bought earlier.
She carefully applied it to the mark left by the slap. Her face occasionally tightened in pain, but she endured it.
Once she was done, the pain gradually faded as the ointment’s cooling sensation took effect.
"The people in this world are truly amazing," she murmured as she stared at the blue ointment.
She had bought it from a pharmacy affiliated with the Blue Moon Trading House. The store had only opened a month ago, but the medicines and potions they sold were already known for their exceptional quality.
Leona closed her eyes and let the ointment heal her. At the same time, she thought about the Blue Moon Trading House.
"Blue Moon, huh?" she murmured softly. "Its creator is unknown. The only name that has surfaced is Shion. Many say he’s the founder, but just as many deny it."
She opened her eyes again and watched the maids walking in the distance.
"But how could someone in this world create so many innovations that seem impossible by this world’s standards?"
She had read many history books about this world’s civilization, including the great war against the Demon Emperor a thousand years ago, the emergence of two heroes of humanity, and the appearance of the Seven Singularities several hundred years after the Demon Emperor’s era.
To put it simply, progress had been relatively slow, especially in the fields of science and technology. The people of this world were still similar to humans in the Middle Ages on Earth.
Yet in just eleven years, one amazing invention after another had come from a small, unknown trading house called Blue Moon.
Now, that trading house had become one of the main forces driving technological progress throughout the empire. Perhaps even on other continents.
"Its creator must be a reincarnator as well," she whispered.
She suspected Nolan Lorian, the forgotten prince of the Great Velmora Empire. If he truly was the reincarnation of her older brother, then it was entirely possible.
"Unfortunately, I don’t have the authority to investigate it," she muttered in frustration.
She still couldn’t adjust to life in this world, especially with how unfamiliar everything around her was. Elena was also a major problem that constantly haunted her.
That woman hated her intensely and often physically abused her. If she were still on Earth, she could simply call the police and let them handle it.
But in this world, moral standards were different. With a deeply entrenched feudal system and the law of the jungle, where the strong preyed on the weak, she could only rely on herself to survive.
Leona took a deep breath before slowly exhaling.
"Come on, cheer up! I still have a long journey ahead!"
After encouraging herself, she slipped the ointment into her pocket and stood up.
She walked toward her family’s mansion. When she entered the living room, she was taken aback.
Her father, Tristan, and her stepmother, Elena, were sitting together and talking with a handsome man in his thirties.
Noticing her arrival, Tristan smiled and called out, "Leona, come here!"
Seeing his smile, Leona frowned. She had never seen her father smile at her before.
All she had ever received from him were cold, indifferent stares, which always made her feel uneasy whenever she looked at him.
Suppressing her unease, Leona walked toward them and stopped beside her father.
"Let me introduce you, Mr. Ethan. This is my daughter, Leona Corvayne. And Leona, this is Mr. Ethan, the head of the Blue Moon Trading House’s northern branch."
Leona was surprised. She hadn’t expected that young man to be the head of the Blue Moon Trading House’s northern branch.
Even though his rank was lower than Shion’s, it was still impressive.
"Oh, right. Mr. Ethan is here regarding the loan I mentioned to you earlier. Do you remember?" Tristan asked.
Leona nodded slightly.
"I remember."
The Viscount Corvayne family had applied for a loan of up to eight hundred million Sharn from the Silver Dragon Bank. That was a huge amount, but the bank had offered them a very low interest rate—only five percent.
That was clearly tempting, especially since most interest rates could reach seven or eight percent.
"Mr. Ethan has agreed to it. We’re very grateful to him," Tristan said with a small chuckle.
Leona shot her father a meaningful glance. She could see the hypocrisy in his words, but she said nothing and merely gave a slight nod.
Ethan sipped his tea and calmly looked at Leona.
’So, she’s the young lady Miss Shion asked me to bring along, is she?’ he muttered.
He didn’t see anything special about her. But since it was an order, he didn’t ask any questions.
Ethan and Tristan continued their conversation, mostly discussing developments in the northern region and the opportunities there.
Leona simply stood beside her father without saying a word.
She could feel Elena’s cold stares from time to time, but she ignored them.
Suddenly...
"Excuse me, Viscount Corvayne. Actually, I’m here for a specific reason."
Tristan was slightly surprised.
"What is it, Mr. Ethan?"
Ethan turned toward Leona and spoke softly.
"I came specifically to see Young Lady Leona."
