The Hidden Extra: The Lazy Prince Refuses to Ascend The Throne

Chapter 545: Evalyn’s Arrival

Chapter 545: Evalyn’s Arrival

"The Eastern Empire of Izanagi?" Rafine’s eyes widened. "What happened? Why are you suddenly going there?"

She walked in and set her tray down on the desk.

Nolan slowly got down from the desk and explained, "My sister received an invitation from the Eastern Empire of Izanagi. But since she can’t go, I’ll be going in her place."

Rafine’s face paled, but she quickly hid it and turned to Elina, as if seeking confirmation.

Elina gave a small nod. "Yeah. Brother Nolan will be going as my representative."

Hearing this, Rafine fell silent for a few seconds before letting out a deep breath.

"Aren’t you tired of traveling so far all the time? Before, you went to the northern region, and now you’re planning to go to the eastern continent. I’m a little worried you’ll faint along the way."

Her words reminded Elina of something she had overlooked.

"That’s right, brother. I forgot you just came back from the eastern continent," she said with a worried look. "In that case, I’ll cancel the trip. I’ll speak to the Prime Minister—"

Before she could finish, Nolan gently pinched her lips and interrupted, "Thanks for your concern, but honestly, I’m not tired at all. I’ll attend, so don’t worry."

Elina paused for a moment before nodding heavily.

Satisfied, Nolan released her lips.

"Thank you too, Rafine. I know you’re worried about me, but I’m fine. After traveling to the northern continent, I’ve gotten used to long journeys. You can rest assured—everything will be fine."

Nolan turned to her with a faint smile.

Rafine bit her lower lip, wanting to press the matter further, but she knew Nolan was just as stubborn as Elina.

No matter how much she tried to persuade him, he would stick to his decision.

"All right, I understand. I won’t interfere anymore. But at the very least, you should take someone with you. How about I come?" she said calmly, though the hope in her eyes was hard to hide.

"You?" Nolan’s eyes widened in surprise, and he shook his head firmly. "That’s impossible. Elina needs you here, so I can’t take you with me."

The hopeful light in Rafine’s eyes vanished instantly. Still, she quickly composed herself and asked hesitantly, "Then who are you planning to take?"

"As for that, I have two candidates," he replied, rubbing his chin. "I haven’t decided yet. I’ll let you both know later."

Elina and Rafine exchanged glances but said nothing more.

...

Three days passed quickly, and Nolan began to grow accustomed to life in the town of Virella.

Although it was not as lively or entertaining as the capital, he still liked it. After all, Virella’s population was not too dense.

Because of that, the atmosphere felt quiet and comfortable.

"So, is the person you mentioned coming soon?" Elina asked curiously.

Nolan, who was reading a book, nodded slightly and looked up at her.

"Yeah. They’ll be here soon. Just wait."

Elina said nothing more and returned to her work.

Rafine, whose desk was not far from Elina’s, occasionally glanced at Nolan with a complicated, irritated expression.

Nolan noticed it, but he chose to ignore it.

Actually, Nolan knew that Rafine wanted to go with him to the eastern continent. If he had a choice, he would rather take Rafine than anyone else.

Unfortunately, Elina didn’t have anyone capable and truly trustworthy by her side to help manage the affairs of the town of Virella.

Not to mention, the battle for the throne was currently in a silent phase. Since the deaths of Zarak and Cassian, the three of them had adopted a cautious approach.

They didn’t dare to act recklessly, fearing they might suffer the same fate as Cassian and Zarak.

Even so, Nolan was certain this situation was only temporary. Humans, by nature, hated waiting.

It was a trait everyone possessed, including himself.

So, it was only a matter of time before a major upheaval occurred, and Nolan was sure it wouldn’t take long.

Just then, a servant suddenly entered and stopped in front of Nolan.

"Your Highness, there is someone outside who claims to have been invited by you," he said respectfully.

"Oh?" Nolan’s eyebrows lifted slightly. "Finally, she’s here. Very well, thank you for the information."

The servant smiled, nodded, and then left.

"You two, come with me to welcome the guest. I’m sure you’ll be happy to meet her," Nolan said as he stood up.

Elina furrowed her brows. At that moment, she realized the person her brother was referring to was a woman.

One figure immediately came to mind: Seira.

’It can’t be Sister Seira, can it?’ Elina wondered doubtfully.

Despite her curiosity, she quickly pushed the thought aside and stood up.

Rafine also stood, curious about the woman who was so important that Nolan dared to take her to the eastern continent.

The three of them left the workspace together and headed to the living room.

When they arrived, Elina and Rafine were stunned. On one of the sofas sat a striking woman in her twenties with silver hair.

Her expression was calm, yet she radiated an unmistakable aura of heroism.

She wore a blue dress that highlighted her beautiful, toned figure.

It was none other than Evalyn, heir to the Lionheart family.

"Hey, beautiful. Did you miss me?" Nolan teased as he stepped closer.

Evalyn turned her head, and a dazzling smile immediately appeared on her lips.

"You stinky man! I finally get to see you again. I thought you’d died in the northern continent."

She stood, ran toward him, and hugged him tightly.

Although Evalyn was fairly tall, she was still shorter than Nolan. Her head pressed against his broad, sturdy chest, and Nolan returned the hug, rubbing her back gently.

"Did you miss me?" he asked playfully.

Evalyn pouted and pinched his waist.

"You really still dare to ask that? Can’t you read my face?"

"Ouch!" Nolan groaned, wincing, and quickly let go.

With a mock-scowl, he scolded Evalyn, "You gorilla! You haven’t changed a bit!"

Evalyn’s eyes widened for a moment, then a dangerous smile curled on her lips.

"A gorilla, huh?" She cracked her knuckles, revealing her neat, gleaming teeth. "Very bold, Nolan Lorian. It’s been a long time since we last met, yet you still dare to call me a gorilla? Seems like you had too much free time in the northern continent—nobody punished you. Well, now I’ll do it... in your father’s place!"

Seeing the fierce determination radiating from her, Nolan panicked. "Wait a minute! I was just joking!"

But Evalyn didn’t seem to care. Her fist was already clenched as she swung straight at Nolan’s face.

He managed to dodge and scrambled backward.

"Trying to run? If I can’t catch you, my name isn’t Evalyn!"

Without hesitation, she took a running start and gave chase.

Elina could only sigh in resignation.

"Are they always like this?" Rafine asked doubtfully.

Elina nodded heavily. "Yes. They’ve been playing together since they were little. Almost every day, they fight like this."

Rafine fell silent, biting her lower lip. For some reason, hearing that made her chest feel as if it were being gripped by an invisible hand.

’It feels... painful,’ she whispered softly.
