Chapter 681: Failed Negotiations
Chapter 681: Failed Negotiations
"Who is your leader?"
Her voice rang out, and Erkan heard it clearly.
He narrowed his eyes and stared at Elina.
"Elina Lorian..."
He recognized her immediately. Her name and face were etched clearly in his memory—Nolan Lorian’s younger sister.
Unexpectedly, it was this woman leading the forces of the Great Velmora Empire.
That made the situation even more troublesome.
Erkan suppressed his frustration and urged his horse forward. Twenty mounted soldiers rode beside him.
"It is me, Your Highness," Erkan replied coldly. "What do you wish to discuss?"
Elina stopped three meters away and looked him up and down.
"What is the meaning of this? Why are you pursuing my brother?" she asked bluntly. "Are you trying to start a war with the Great Velmora Empire?"
The threat in her words was obvious. Erkan felt both annoyed and offended.
Nolan was the one responsible for Aldrian’s death, yet Elina was acting as if he were the wrongdoer.
It was nothing but an insult to him and the royal family.
His eyes narrowed as he replied in a cold voice, "I don’t understand what you mean, Princess. From the beginning, this has been your brother’s fault."
He pointed at Nolan with a trembling finger and said heavily, "He is the murderer of Prince Aldrian—the crown prince of the Ancient Kingdom of Eron! How could we possibly stand by and do nothing!?"
Elina froze. She turned to her brother in disbelief.
"Brother... is that true?" she asked, her voice serious.
In truth, Elina had no idea what was going on. All she knew was that her brother was in danger.
Who would have thought he had committed such a crime?
Killing a crown prince was equivalent to declaring war on the Ancient Kingdom of Eron.
After all, the crown prince was the face and pride of the kingdom.
Surprisingly, Nolan didn’t deny it. He crossed his arms over his chest and replied casually, "Yes, I killed him."
The atmosphere instantly turned silent and tense. Erkan clenched his teeth and was about to draw his sword when Nolan spoke again.
"But I had my reasons." His eyes sharpened, filled with murderous intent. "Aldrian tried to rape Seira right in front of me. Was I supposed to just stand there and watch? If my father found out, he would approve of what I did."
"You..." Erkan gasped as he drew his sword and pointed the tip at Nolan. "You have committed the greatest sin of your life, Nolan Lorian! The Ancient Kingdom of Eron will hunt you down, no matter where you go!"
At first, the suspicion that Nolan was the culprit was still uncertain. But after his confession, everything became crystal clear.
Elina went on high alert and was about to draw her sword as well, but Nolan stopped her.
"Are you sure you want to start a war with the Great Velmora Empire? Aren’t you afraid you and your soldiers will be wiped out here?" Nolan asked in a playful tone.
"Wiped out?" Erkan snorted coldly. "In your dreams! I’ll defeat all of you and drag you before the king myself!"
Nolan could tell the man was incredibly stubborn. Then again, he was a war general—someone who only cared about carrying out orders, showing no mercy to the enemy.
There was no point trying to persuade or argue with him.
"Go back, Elina. Tonight, we fight," Nolan ordered firmly.
That declaration made Elina’s heart race. Still, she didn’t refuse. She immediately turned her horse around and rode off.
Nolan, along with the ten soldiers following him, returned to the rear ranks.
Erkan and his soldiers also went back to their positions.
"What about the negotiations?" Seira asked as she ran over, her expression filled with worry.
In a way, all of this was happening because of her. She didn’t want any bloodshed.
But Nolan’s next words shattered her hopes.
"We’re going to war. Sister, leave right now—as far away as possible," Nolan commanded sternly.
Seira’s eyes widened. "Then what about you? Are you going to fight too?"
Nolan chuckled and nodded casually. "Of course. This happened because of me, so it’s only right that I take responsibility. Don’t worry—you’ve seen my power before, haven’t you? Defeating them will be easy."
His words did nothing to ease Seira’s worries. If anything, they made her even more anxious.
Elina let out a long sigh, then turned to Darius.
"Order ten soldiers to escort Princess Seira away from here. Right now!"
Darius didn’t dare disobey. He immediately moved to pull Seira away.
Seira wanted to insist on staying, but in the end, she swallowed her words.
She knew she would only become a burden to the twins and the soldiers.
Once she was sure Seira was safe, Elina turned to Nolan and asked grimly, "Brother, do they have any mages?"
Facing mages was far more difficult than dealing with ordinary soldiers.
In her haste, Elina hadn’t brought any mages with her, so it would be extremely dangerous if the enemy had one.
"There is," Nolan replied. "And that person is at the Celestial level."
Elina froze. Her mouth fell open, and her heart pounded wildly.
"C-Celestial?" she cried in horror. "Isn’t that too dangerous?"
Celestial mages possessed terrifying power. With a single spell, they could flatten an entire city.
If they went to war with Erkan’s forces, defeat would be inevitable.
"It’s just a Celestial. What’s there to be afraid of?" Nolan teased. "Don’t you have a guard by your side?"
"A guard by my side?" Elina froze. Her mind raced until she finally understood what he meant.
"Right! I have her!" Her eyes lit up. But then she narrowed her eyes at Nolan suspiciously. "How did you know I have a guard?"
She didn’t remember ever telling her brother about Malverna’s existence.
"That’s because I am the Singularity of Chaos, and the guard by your side is one of my people."
That was what Nolan wanted to say, but he quickly swallowed the words and smiled casually instead.
"That’s not important. Call her. Let her deal with the Celestial mage."
Elina didn’t dare refuse. She closed her eyes and called out softly, ’Can you help me?’
Buzz!
A moment later, Malverna suddenly appeared beside her.
Her long white hair cascaded down her back. Her beautiful, curvaceous figure was concealed beneath a simple black dress, yet it did nothing to diminish her elegance.
Her face was hidden behind a half-mask.
She shot Nolan an annoyed glance but said nothing. In the next moment, she vanished from where she stood.
Elina was a bit confused by her reaction. She had expected Malverna to refuse.
Who would have thought she would agree without saying a word?
"Don’t worry about it, Elina." Nolan stretched and gazed into the distance with excitement. "What matters now is the battle that’s about to begin. Give me your spare sword."
Elina nodded. She carried two swords, usually kept as a backup in case her main blade broke.
As Nolan took the sword, he smiled contentedly and swung it from side to side.
"All right, everyone!" Nolan shouted, raising his sword high. "The enemy is ahead. It’s time we teach them a lesson!"
Darius and the soldiers behind him raised their swords and replied in unison, "Yes, Your Highness!"
