Chapter 727: Attack from the Demon General and His Army!
Chapter 727: Attack from the Demon General and His Army!
"Hero, danger! Demon General Malgrion and his fifteen thousand troops are about to attack our camp!"
Upon hearing this, everyone inside the tent was startled.
"Demon General Malgrion? Damn... How did that demon get here so fast?" Rei gritted his teeth, clenching both fists tightly.
Malgrion was one of the five demon generals of the Demon Empire. His strength was second only to the strongest, and he was known for his terrifying brutality.
Previously, a human army from one of the kingdoms on the Southern Continent had been defeated by him and his forces.
Those who were captured were turned into slaves, while the rest were brutally tortured. Their bodies were then fed to the demon monsters within the Demon Territory.
Rei hadn’t expected Malgrion to launch an attack now, while he was still wounded and unprepared.
"Alright, I understand. Please assemble ten thousand troops. I’ll go with them!" Rei said firmly.
"Understood, Hero!"
After the soldier left, Rei tried to stand up, but Roseline quickly stopped him.
"What are you doing?" she asked anxiously.
"I have to go to the battlefield," he replied calmly. "Malgrion is a nightmare for humanity. I have to kill him right now."
His duty as a hero weighed heavily on him, yet he felt no resentment or regret.
Ever since he was young, he had always dreamed of becoming a hero for others—and now, that dream had come true.
"You..." Roseline was moved by his determination and sacrifice.
But at the same time, she felt sad and reluctant. If Rei insisted on going, it would be tantamount to suicide.
After all, he was not in good condition.
"Ancestor, what if I go to the battlefield instead?"
A calm voice came from behind them. Rei and Roseline were startled and turned to look at Evalyn in surprise.
"You?" Rei pointed at her, then shook his head. "No, that’s impossible. This isn’t your responsibility, Evalyn. I don’t want to involve you."
Evalyn was from the future, and the chaos of the past wasn’t her burden to bear.
"Then how are you going to handle this? You’re injured yourself. It’s hard enough just to move. You’ll surely die if you go to the battlefield," Evalyn stated matter-of-factly.
"Still, this is my responsibility," Rei insisted.
"What’s the point of responsibility if it ends up hurting you and the people you care about?"
Evalyn let out a long sigh and briefly glanced at Roseline, whose expression was clouded with sadness.
At that moment, she realized her ancestor was both stubborn and kind-hearted. For some reason, Evalyn felt as though she was seeing a reflection of herself in Rei.
No—perhaps it was more accurate to say that she was the one who resembled her ancestor.
Rei was at a loss for words. He wanted to argue back, but he couldn’t find anything to say.
What Evalyn said, to be honest, made perfect sense.
In his current condition, going to the battlefield would be no different from suicide. But what else could he do?
He was a hero. It was his duty to protect humanity.
"I..."
Just as Rei was about to insist again, Nolan immediately stopped him.
"Alright, don’t be so dramatic. Let Evalyn handle it. This is nothing more than a trivial matter for her."
The past, present, and future were indeed interconnected. However, Nolan wasn’t the least bit afraid of affecting the timeline.
In his view, the future—his and Evalyn’s era—was an absolute result.
No matter how much he and Evalyn tried to change the past, the outcome would remain the same. And even if it did change, it would simply branch into a different timeline.
At Nolan and Evalyn’s urging, Rei finally gave in.
He let out a small sigh and said weakly, "Alright, I understand. Please help us, Evalyn."
He bowed his head toward her. Despite being her ancestor, there was no denying that he was now indebted to Evalyn.
"It’s okay, Ancestor." Evalyn smiled and waved her left hand. "Leave it to me!"
She patted her chest proudly.
With that, Roseline took Evalyn away to prepare, leaving Nolan and Rei alone.
The atmosphere grew awkward, but Nolan quickly broke the silence.
"Hero Rei, may I speak with you privately?"
Rei was startled but quickly composed himself and gave a slight nod.
"Of course. But before that, may I know your name?"
Nolan flinched, realizing he hadn’t properly introduced himself yet.
"My name is Nolan Lorian. I am the Sixth Prince of the Great Velmora Empire in the future."
"The Sixth Prince?" Rei was stunned. He was about to bow his head in respect, but an unseen force gently held him in place.
His eyes widened, and his gaze toward Nolan filled with horror.
"This guy is strong!"
That was the only thought that ran through his mind.
"Please, tell me, Your Highness," he said respectfully.
Nolan didn’t immediately state his purpose. He took a chair from the corner of the tent, placed it near the bed, and sat down.
"I’ve heard from historical records that you come from another world. Is that true?"
Rei nodded. "Yes, I’m from another world. It’s called Earth."
Nolan’s heart pounded. He had suspected as much, but hearing it directly sent a strange thrill through him.
"Can you tell me what that world is like?"
Rei looked slightly confused. This was the first time anyone other than Princess Roseline had asked him about his home world.
Still, since Nolan had asked, he saw no reason to hide it.
"Of course." Rei nodded and began to explain.
Nolan listened intently. Fifteen minutes later, Rei finished, and Nolan finally understood.
"So that’s how it is..." Nolan narrowed his eyes slightly.
The last trace of doubt in his mind vanished. Rei truly came from the same world—and the same era—as him.
His cold gaze softened a little as he asked, "In that case, do you know the major families in Maple Leaf Country?"
"The major families in Maple Leaf Country?" Rei blinked in surprise. He thought for a moment before shaking his head. "Sorry, I don’t know them. I’m from the East, so I’m not familiar with that."
The next moment, his expression stiffened, and his heart began to race.
"Y-You... what did you just say?! Maple Leaf Country? H-How could you possibly know there was a country like that in my previous world?" he stammered.
Nolan grinned, his tone calm yet carrying a faint edge.
"That’s because I come from the same place as you, Hero Rei Lionheart..."

"Hahaha! We’re going to win!"
Three kilometers away from the human army’s encampment, a tall, burly demon with a bull-like face laughed heartily.
He rode a horse that stood nearly two meters tall. The beast had two horns, each about fifty centimeters long.
Its four powerful, muscular legs made the other horses behind it look insignificant in comparison.
That demon was Malgrion—one of the Five Demon Generals.
His gaze was fixed on the distance, where Rei’s army tents could be seen.
"Everyone," he shouted loudly. "Today, victory will be ours!"
"Woaah!" The roar of tens of thousands of soldiers erupted behind him.
"So..." Malgrion grinned. "Let’s attack them!"
