Chapter 726: Meeting the Hero of Light
Chapter 726: Meeting the Hero of Light
"Why is Princess Roseline taking so long? What on earth is going on?"
Inside his tent, Rei scratched his head as he stared at the tent flap in confusion.
It had been more than ten minutes, yet Roseline still hadn’t shown up.
"Could those two people who came earlier have attacked her?"
The moment that thought crossed his mind, panic began to gnaw at him. Rei was about to stand up, but Luminus’s voice echoed in his head.
"Don’t move, you idiot! Your body is still badly injured!"
Rei froze. He looked at Luminus anxiously and said, "But Roseline might be in danger!"
"In danger? Has your brain dropped to your knees? There are thousands of soldiers here. If she were truly in danger, there would already be chaos. Why can’t you use your head?"
Rei fell silent. Luminus’s words made sense.
Suddenly, footsteps approached the tent entrance, and Roseline stepped inside.
Seeing her at last, Rei let out a sigh of relief. Thankfully, he had listened to Luminus.
Otherwise, the commotion he would have caused would have only made him look foolish.
"Your Highness—"
Before he could finish, Roseline cut him off.
"Hero Rei, there are people who wish to see you. Do you grant them permission?"
Rei was taken aback. The people Roseline referred to must have been the two guests from earlier—the ones the soldier had reported.
"This..." he hesitated. But judging from Roseline’s calm expression, it seemed the guests weren’t lying.
"Alright. Bring them in."
Roseline immediately parted the tent flap, and two figures stepped inside.
They were a man and a woman. The man was so handsome that Rei could only stare in awe.
His hair was slightly long and black, and under the tent’s light, his eyes shimmered with a deep purple hue.
The woman beside him, however, was extraordinarily beautiful. Her face looked perfectly sculpted, and she carried an imposing aura of heroism.
For some reason, the moment Rei’s gaze fell on her, he felt an inexplicable sense of familiarity.
It was as if he were looking at another version of himself.
"Rei! That woman... that woman is the one I was talking about earlier!"
Luminus’s horrified voice echoed in his mind.
"Huh?" Rei froze. He remembered Luminus mentioning yesterday that something familiar was approaching their tent.
Could that "something familiar" be this woman?
"Greetings, Hero of Light," Nolan and Evalyn greeted him.
"Ah! Yes," Rei replied stiffly. "So..."
He studied the two of them closely—especially Evalyn—before asking, "Who are you?"
Nolan glanced at Evalyn, and she immediately understood his meaning.
She stepped forward, knelt on one knee, placed her right palm over her chest, and bowed her head.
"My name is Evalyn Lionheart, and I am your descendant."
Rei: "..."
It felt as if three question marks were floating above his head.
"W-Wait a minute..." Rei raised his right hand. "You said you’re my descendant?"
Evalyn nodded. "That’s right, Ancestor."
"No! You must be mistaken! I’m only twenty-five, okay? I’ve never even held a woman’s hand. How could I possibly have a descendant—let alone one as grown as you?!" Rei refused to accept it.
Evalyn chuckled. She lifted her head and stared deeply into Rei’s eyes.
This was the first time she had seen her ancestor in person. Before this moment, she had only seen him in paintings.
"I’m sorry, Ancestor. Actually, I’m your descendant from the future."
This time, Rei was even more stunned. His mouth hung open—wide enough to fit an apple.
"M-My descendant from the future?" he stammered. "Y-You must be joking, right?"
"No, I’m not joking!" Evalyn insisted. "If you still refuse to believe me, I’ll prove it."
She stood up and walked toward the Divine Sword of Luminus.
Under the astonished gazes of Roseline and Rei, she grabbed the sword and unsheathed it.
"Look—I can lift this sword with ease."
She swung it as if it were nothing more than an ordinary blade.
Roseline: "..."
Rei: "..."
Both of them froze, unable to believe what they were seeing.
The Divine Sword of Luminus was a legendary weapon that could only be wielded by Rei, the Hero of Light.
Forget holding it—anyone who even tried to touch it would be knocked back. That was because Luminus was deeply repulsed by anyone attempting to wield it, except Rei.
And now, Evalyn could hold it without any trouble. That alone was the clearest proof that she truly was his descendant.
"R-Rei! This woman really is your descendant!" Luminus’s panicked voice echoed in Rei’s mind. "I-I can sense your bloodline within her!"
After hearing Luminus’s words, Rei’s doubts vanished completely.
He stared at Evalyn in a daze. A descendant from the future had appeared before him and was calling him her ancestor... Honestly, it was still difficult for him to process.
In fact, it was even more shocking than the moment he had been summoned to this world.
’Wait a minute...’ Rei narrowed his eyes. ’My descendant came to me from the future? Doesn’t that mean I have a family and descendants in the future? Then what about the Demon Emperor? Did we manage to defeat him?’
As if he could read Rei’s thoughts, Nolan suddenly spoke up.
"Yes. You and the Hero of Darkness managed to defeat the Demon Emperor. That is what happens in the future timeline."
"Hiss!" Rei sucked in a sharp breath, joy clearly spreading across his face.
He had only been guessing, but it turned out to be true!
"I see..." Rei exhaled deeply, then looked at Evalyn with a gentle gaze. "Come here. Let your ancestor hug you!"
Evalyn froze. But before she could decide whether to accept it or not, Roseline’s panicked voice broke the silence.
"No! That’s not allowed!"
"Huh?" Rei flinched and looked at her in confusion. "What’s wrong? Why isn’t it allowed?"
"W-Well..." Roseline stammered, then shyly pressed her index fingers together. "Even though Evalyn is your descendant, that’s in the future, not now. And right now, your ages aren’t that different. So... it’s still not allowed."
"Is that so?" Rei rubbed his chin, carefully processing her logic.
Nolan watched their interaction and chuckled to himself.
’This guy is really clueless.’
He shook his head and let out a quiet sigh.
Roseline’s jealousy was painfully obvious, yet that clueless man didn’t notice it at all.
Nolan hadn’t expected the hero who would be worshiped in the future to be like this. Still, in his opinion, Rei was indeed quite unique.
Nolan could clearly tell that the man was naive, kind-hearted, and innocent.
It was a far cry from the image of a hero Nolan had always imagined.
"By the way, Evalyn," Rei said, turning to her. "What brought you back to the past? Did something happen in the future?"
Roseline also looked curious. According to Nolan’s story, she and Rei would marry and establish a large family known as the Lionheart Clan.
However, she still didn’t know the reason Evalyn and Nolan had come to this era.
Evalyn steadied herself. She knew this was her chance to learn the fighting style of her ancestor.
"I..."
Before she could say a single word, a soldier’s panicked voice rang out from outside the tent.
"Hero, danger! Demon General Malgrion and his fifteen thousand troops are about to attack our camp!"
