Chapter 738: The Future Tower Master (1)

Chapter 738: The Future Tower Master (1)

"Hey, I heard Old Man Orrun still hasn’t finished his crazy magic project. Is that true?"

A fat male student turned to look at the adult man sitting in front of him.

The man was quite handsome. He had short gray hair and wore round glasses.

Hearing the student’s question, the man nodded.

"That’s right. Even now, Great Sage Orrun still hasn’t finished it. He might never finish it," he replied with a long sigh.

The student chuckled and teased, "Teacher, don’t you want to warn him? I mean, it’s such a waste to spend his time on something so useless, isn’t it? He’d be better off using that time to create more practical magic. What do you think?"

The man smiled wryly. "Do you think he’d listen? Great Sage Orrun is incredibly stubborn. He ignores warnings from other sages, let alone an ordinary teacher like me. Forget it..."

He waved his right hand, dismissing the student. "Go back to your classroom now. I want to finish my work."

The student grinned widely, then immediately turned and left.

Just as the man was about to resume his work, a knock sounded from outside.

"Master Ethan, may I come in?"

Ethan was startled. The voice was so soft, almost like a child’s. He quickly realized who it belonged to and smiled.

"Of course. Come in."

The door slowly opened, and a little girl stepped inside.

She was incredibly beautiful. Her light green hair flowed down her back in soft waves.

Her eyes were round and blue, as clear as the midday sky.

On her head was a flower-shaped ribbon, making her look even more adorable.

Judging by her posture, she was likely between five and seven years old.

However, what stood out most about her were her ears. Unlike typical human ears, the girl’s ears were long and pointed, clearly marking her as an elf.

As soon as Ethan saw her, his smile widened.

"Do you need anything from me?"

Sylvia stepped inside and stopped in front of Ethan’s desk. She bowed her head slightly and asked, "Am I bothering you?"

Ethan shook his head. "Of course not. What do you need?"

Sylvia let out a sigh of relief and explained, "I came to bring supplies for Sage Orrun. Could you hand them over to him?"

She took out a silver ring and offered it to him.

The ring wasn’t an ordinary item but an artifact with a storage space inside. It contained many things, such as medicine, potions, and other supplies.

"Hmmm..." Ethan didn’t take it right away. He glanced at the pile of documents on his desk and said sheepishly, "I’m really busy right now. It might take another five hours before I’m free. Could you deliver it to Great Sage Orrun yourself, Sylvia?"

"Me?" Sylvia looked surprised. "Is that okay?"

Ethan smiled. "Of course. Why not? Just go over and tell him you’re here to deliver his supplies."

Sylvia hesitated for a moment before nodding slightly. "I understand."

Without saying another word, she turned and left.

Ethan watched her small figure disappear from view, smiling in amusement.

"What an adorable little girl."

***

Sylvia walked to the courtyard where Orrun was located. Since it wasn’t far from Ethan’s office, it didn’t take her long to get there.

"Hmmm?" Sylvia blinked in confusion. "Why does it feel so quiet?"

She looked around curiously. Usually, the courtyard was full of people going about their activities.

But now, she didn’t see anyone at all, as if she were the only one there.

Sylvia didn’t linger and headed inside right away. Orrun’s house was quite large. The interior was spacious and filled with strange paintings that she found slightly creepy.

Eventually, she reached the research room, where Orrun usually worked.

Just as Sylvia was about to knock, she suddenly overheard a conversation from inside.

"You’re pretty smart, Old Man. I never even thought of drawing more than seven lines in a magic formation."

"Hahaha! That’s because you lack experience, kid! I’m one of the famous Great Sages! My mind is far more advanced than yours."

"You’re so annoying, damn it!"

"Hahaha!"

Sylvia was startled and muttered, "There’s someone else inside... how is that possible?"

Although she had never interacted with Orrun, she had heard many things about him from other students.

Rumor had it that Orrun was an annoying old man with a head as hard as stone.

He was also notorious for hating anyone who entered his research room.

But now, he was chatting casually—he even sounded pleased—with someone else. To Sylvia, this was huge news, enough to shock the entire Tower of Silence.

Sylvia calmed herself and knocked on the door in front of her.

Knock!

The voices inside stopped instantly. A moment later, footsteps approached, and the door opened.

Orrun’s fat figure came into view. Since he was short, Sylvia didn’t have to look up to meet his gaze.

"You..." Orrun looked surprised to see Sylvia.

Sylvia realized he might not recognize her. She bowed her head and quickly introduced herself.

"Sorry to interrupt you, Great Sage Orrun. My name is Sylvia. I’ve come to deliver this month’s resources."

She reached into her pocket and handed him a silver ring.

Orrun accepted it, then looked at Sylvia with keen interest.

"Sylvia, right? Are you the old woman’s new student?"

The old woman he was referring to was Sylvia’s master—Great Sage Moracle.

"That’s right." Sylvia nodded. "I’m the direct student of Great Sage Moracle. Is something wrong, Great Sage Orrun?"

Orrun chuckled and shook his head.

"Nothing. I only heard about you from her drunken ramblings a month ago. I never expected you to actually be an elf," he said casually.

Sylvia unconsciously covered her ears in embarrassment.

"Hahaha! Don’t worry, I’m not the type to discriminate," Orrun said in a soothing tone, laughing heartily.

Sylvia involuntarily let out a sigh of relief. Sometimes, people simply didn’t like her.

They would give her hostile, hateful looks, as if she had done something unforgivable.

Sylvia knew they didn’t hate her personally—they hated the fact that she was an elf.

Perhaps because she felt at ease around Orrun, Sylvia unintentionally asked, "Who were you speaking with, Great Sage Orrun?"

The moment the words left her mouth, Sylvia froze and quickly covered her mouth.

However, Orrun didn’t seem angry. Instead, he stepped aside and gestured for her to enter.

"Come in."

Sylvia blinked innocently and stepped inside. In the next instant, her gaze fell on a handsome young man standing near the desk, reading a thick book with a serious expression.

He had black hair that swayed slightly in the breeze coming through the window.

His eyes were purple—strikingly beautiful and captivating.

As if sensing her gaze, Nolan instinctively looked up and met her blue eyes.

"Huh? That girl..." Nolan’s eyes widened. "Why does she look familiar?"
