Chapter 739: The Future Tower Master (2)
Chapter 739: The Future Tower Master (2)
"Kid, let me introduce you—this girl is a direct disciple of one of the Seven Great Sages, the Great Sage Morecle," Orrun said with a broad smile. "Her name is Sylvia. Oh, and by the way, she’s an elf."
He then pointed at Nolan. "And Sylvia, that annoying guy over there is Nolan Lorian. He..."
Orrun paused for a moment, as if searching for the right words, then continued casually. "He’s my friend. Oh, right! The ’Lorian’ in his name isn’t a surname from the imperial family of the Great Velmora Empire. This kid told me he’s a member of the imperial family, but I know he’s lying."
A small chuckle escaped his lips.
Nolan rolled his eyes at the nonsense. He did come from an imperial family—but not in this era. Rather, in the future.
However, he was too lazy to explain further and simply chose to ignore it.
Nolan closed the book in his hand, placed it on the desk, and walked toward Sylvia.
Sylvia was startled and unconsciously took a step back.
Nolan stopped in front of her. The girl was so small that he had to crouch down to reach her eye level.
"My name is Nolan. Nice to meet you, Sylvia."
Meeting his gentle gaze, Sylvia blushed. Nolan was incredibly handsome—even by elven standards.
His face looked almost unreal, like the gods themselves had taken their time shaping every detail by hand.
His black hair and striking purple eyes made an unusual but eye-catching combination. It was the first time Sylvia had ever seen someone that handsome.
She quickly snapped out of it and gave a small, polite bow.
"N-Nice to meet you," she said, trying to keep her voice steady, though a faint nervousness still slipped through.
Nolan looked at her for a moment and gave a faint smile.
’Sylvia, huh? So she’s the future Tower Master,’ he chuckled inwardly.
Now, he finally understood why he had felt a sense of familiarity when he first saw her.
The Sylvia standing before him was the same Sylvia he had met in the future.
The woman who always appeared cold and fierce had once been so adorable when she was little.
Without realizing it, Nolan reached out and pinched her cheek.
Sylvia flinched, and her face turned red at a speed visible to the naked eye.
Her body stiffened, and it looked as if smoke were coming out of her head.
Only then did Nolan realize what he had done. He glanced at the hand that had pinched her cheek and coughed awkwardly.
"Ahem! Sorry, I didn’t mean to," he said, quickly pulling his hand back. "You just remind me of my little sister."
In his previous world, he would have been considered a criminal for doing something like that.
"I-it’s okay," Sylvia whispered, turning her face away.
Orrun watched their interaction in silence. Whether it was just his imagination or not, he felt that Nolan seemed strangely familiar with Sylvia.
It was obvious from the way he looked at the little girl.
"By the way," Orrun said, glancing outside as the sky began to darken, "you haven’t eaten yet, have you? How about I treat you?"
Nolan was surprised. He turned to look outside and realized that five hours had passed since he and Orrun worked together to create the Two-World Teleportation spell.
"Alright." Nolan nodded without refusing. "But I don’t have any money, so you’ll have to take care of me for the next few days, got it?"
He gave Orrun a playful look.
Orrun rolled his eyes but didn’t refuse. Money wasn’t a problem for him. Not just for a few days—he could even manage it for an entire year.
After all, he was one of the Seven Great Sages, with wealth beyond question.
"Oh, right!" Orrun turned to Sylvia. "Have you had dinner yet, little girl? Why don’t you eat with us?"
Sylvia was taken aback by the offer. She shook her head quickly. "N-No, Great Sage Orrun. I’ve already eaten."
But suddenly...
Krrk!
A rumbling sound came from her stomach, and the atmosphere instantly fell silent.
The little girl blushed and hurriedly lowered her head in embarrassment.
Orrun chuckled and turned around.
"Let’s go. I’ll treat both of you!" he said enthusiastically.
Nolan simply smiled and reached out his hand to Sylvia.
"Come on."
Sylvia lifted her head and looked at his outstretched hand hesitantly. But in the next moment, she gathered her courage and placed her small hand in his.
...
Three days later...
"Hah... Hah... Hah..."
Evalyn was panting heavily. Her face was pale, yet there was a clear trace of happiness in her expression.
"Good job, Evalyn."
A soft voice came from behind her.
Evalyn turned around and saw a handsome man walking toward her with a smile.
"Thank you, Ancestor," Evalyn said, smiling brightly.
Rei approached and handed her a glass of cold water.
Evalyn took it and drank it in one gulp.
"Phew! That’s so refreshing!" she exhaled, wiping the sweat from her forehead.
"You’ve improved tremendously," Rei said with admiration. "No wonder you’ll be the only one to inherit the Divine Sword of Luminus in the future."
"You’re praising me too much, Ancestor." Evalyn shook her head, trying to remain humble. "It’s all thanks to your help and guidance. Otherwise, I wouldn’t have come this far."
What she said wasn’t empty flattery. Rei had indeed guided her through every mistake she made.
In just three days, she managed to correct her flaws and master her ancestor’s fighting style.
It could be said that this was the greatest achievement Evalyn had ever attained.
Of course, she knew it wasn’t solely due to her talent. The training Nolan had put her through earlier had also played a huge role.
Because her body had been trained without relying on a power center, it had become much lighter—almost as if she weighed nothing at all.
"Pffft! Even if I helped, it all comes down to you in the end." Rei chuckled. Then he changed the subject. "By the way, Evalyn. Lucas will be here soon. Can you help me?"
"Lucas? The Hero of Darkness?" Evalyn’s eyes widened.
That ancestor of the Asbourne family was quite mysterious. There weren’t many historical records about him—there were even fewer records about Lucas than there were about Rei.
However, Evalyn had heard from her father that Lucas Asbourne’s personality and appearance closely resembled Nathan’s.
Of course, no one knew whether that was true or not. Evalyn had never even seen a portrait of him.
But since her father had said so, it was probably true.
"I see..." Evalyn put on a serious expression. "What kind of help do you want me to provide?"
Rei looked deeply into Evalyn’s eyes and explained, "His visit is for two reasons. First, he wants to check on my condition. You may not know this, but Lucas actually hates me quite a bit. How should I put it...?"
He scratched the back of his head. "Maybe it’s because of a love rivalry?"
Evalyn smiled knowingly. She knew about that already. After all, the rivalry between the Hero of Light and the Hero of Darkness over Princess Roseline’s heart was widely known.
It was also the main cause of the conflict between the two families later on.
"The second reason," Rei continued in a heavy tone, "is that he’s here under His Majesty’s orders. It’s likely related to the attack on the Demon Emperor’s fortress."
Hearing that, Evalyn’s expression turned pale.
"The... Demon Emperor’s fortress?"
