The Hidden Extra: The Lazy Prince Refuses to Ascend The Throne

Chapter 745: Sylvia’s Struggles (1)

Chapter 745: Sylvia’s Struggles (1)

The atmosphere inside the tent grew heavy with silence. Everyone’s expressions darkened—especially Roseline’s, who looked pale and shaken.

The Great Velmora Empire was the land where she had been born. If it were to fall, it would be an unimaginable catastrophe.

Rei walked over and gently patted her right shoulder.

"Don’t worry too much, Your Highness. It’s not too late to stop it," he said in a soothing voice.

Roseline slowly regained her composure and gave a small nod.

"You’re right, Hero Rei. I’m sorry," she replied with a gentle smile.

Rei simply smiled and said nothing more.

However, their interaction did not escape Lucas’s notice. His expression darkened, and his fists clenched tightly, as if he wanted to strike Rei right then and there.

He quickly suppressed the agitation within him and said coldly, "Although this threat is great, it doesn’t mean there’s no way out. I’ve already informed His Majesty the Emperor, and he has approved a plan for a full-scale assault on the Demon Empire’s fortress. What we must do now is prepare everything—including uniting the armies of the various kingdoms and other factions."

After a brief pause, he looked at Roseline more gently and continued, "I will request the Tower of Silence and the Falling Star Academy to join this war. Although their actions have seemed inconsistent so far, as if they had no intention of helping, I’m confident that with proper persuasion, they will lend us their full strength for this all-out assault."

Hearing his words, everyone in the tent felt a wave of relief.

His suggestion made perfect sense. If the Demon Emperor and his forces were going all out, then humanity had no choice but to do the same.

The discussion continued afterward, lasting for a full five hours.

...

The sun set, and day slowly gave way to night. Thousands of stars filled the sky, creating a view that was both beautiful and mesmerizing.

Nolan stood on the balcony with a calm expression. He stared out at the endless sea of stars, a quiet longing lingering in his eyes.

"The two-world teleportation magic is complete. It just needs a little refinement," he murmured softly. "That means I have a chance to... return."

For the past nineteen years, Nolan had always tried to forget his previous world.

As the Sun God had said, "You are dead. Your cause-and-effect connection to that world has been completely severed."

From the very beginning, Nolan had understood that truth. He was dead, and his existence no longer had any connection to Earth.

But was it really that simple?

Of course not.

On Earth, he had family, friends, and a lover. Although his parents were strict and often seemed cold, Nolan knew they only wanted what was best for him—and for the Frey family as well.

And now, that opportunity was finally within reach. After returning to the future, Nolan would begin the ritual to travel to Earth and reunite with his father, his mother, and Seira.

The face of a beautiful black-haired woman surfaced in his mind, and he unconsciously smiled.

"Just a little while longer, and I’ll be able to see you, Seira," he whispered. "No matter how far apart we are—even if I have to travel millions, or even billions, of light-years—I’ll still find you. After all... that was our promise, wasn’t it?"

As he remained lost in thought, the faint sound of footsteps reached his ears.

Nolan snapped out of his reverie and instinctively looked down.

A little girl was walking forward with a dazed expression, heading toward the thicket not far from Orrun’s yard.

"Sylvia?" Nolan froze in surprise.

It was her.

"What is she doing out this late at night?" he wondered.

But no matter how much he thought about it, he couldn’t find an answer.

Nolan immediately jumped down from the balcony, glided through the air for a moment, and landed safely on the ground.

The little girl’s back looked lonely, as if she were carrying something far too heavy for her small frame.

Nolan didn’t call out to her or stop her. Instead, he slipped his right hand into his pocket and quietly followed behind.

He wanted to see what Sylvia was really trying to do.

***

"This is such a hassle! You’re just an elf! You’re not one of us!"

"Go away, you damn girl! You’re bringing bad luck to my place!"

"Stay away! I don’t want to touch you!"

Those voices—filled with hatred and disgust—kept echoing in Sylvia’s mind.

Yet Sylvia remained strangely calm. She stared straight ahead with empty eyes and muttered softly, "What did I do wrong?"

She had never asked for anything unreasonable. She only wanted to be friends with the others.

She wanted to live a normal life and be accepted among the students of the Tower of Silence.

But why was it that every time she tried to get close, they pushed her away—or worse, hated her?

"Is it because I’m different from them?"

Sylvia raised both hands and stared at them blankly.

There was no real difference between humans and elves, aside from the shape of their ears. Other than that, their features were almost identical.

So why was she treated like something disgusting, simply because she was an elf?

Sylvia couldn’t understand. She was still young, and her mind wasn’t yet capable of grasping the complicated hearts, thoughts, and feelings of humans.

As she wandered aimlessly, Sylvia didn’t realize she had entered the natural forest behind the Sun Tower.

"Huh? A forest?" She froze in place.

Whoosh!

A cold wind swept in from her right, carrying a sharp chill.

Strangely, Sylvia didn’t feel the fear she had expected. Instead, she felt calm—almost as if she had returned to her homeland.

Instinctively, or perhaps on a hunch, Sylvia stepped forward.

Before she knew it, she was standing in front of a small lake.

The water was a deep blue, softly glowing beneath the moonlight.

Fireflies fluttered across its surface, creating a scene so beautiful it felt almost dreamlike.

Sylvia was mesmerized and murmured, "I didn’t know there was a place this beautiful here."

She walked to the edge of the lake, crouched down, and dipped her hand into the water.

A cold sensation spread through her body, but she didn’t pull her hand away. She simply left it there.

The anxiety and sadness inside her seemed to fade away in that moment.

As she was lost in thought, a playful voice came from behind her.

"What are you doing, Sylvia?"

Sylvia stiffened. She quickly turned around and saw a handsome black-haired man.

"B-Brother Nolan?" she exclaimed in surprise. "How did you get here?"

Nolan walked over and stopped beside her.

"I saw you wandering around in a daze earlier, so I followed you," he said simply. He turned to her and asked gently, "So, what’s wrong?"

Sylvia lowered her head and stayed silent for a few seconds before replying weakly, "I’m in trouble... can I tell you about it?"
