The Hidden Extra: The Lazy Prince Refuses to Ascend The Throne

Chapter 810: Finding a Solution

Chapter 810: Finding a Solution

"Huh?" Rafine froze in shock. "Are you sure? Prime Minister Roswell is the mastermind?"

Nolan nodded. "That’s right. It’s a seventy percent probability, but I’m certain of it."

If anyone knew about the journey, it was Roswell.

After all, he was his father’s right-hand man. It made sense that he knew about it.

What’s more, his intelligence network was not to be underestimated.

It was no exaggeration to say that across the entire empire, there was hardly a place beyond his reach.

"Hmmm..." Rafine fell silent in thought.

At first, she thought Nolan was joking, but it turned out he wasn’t. He was serious.

"So, how are we going to resolve this issue?" Rafine asked. "We have to get there by tonight, don’t we?"

Nolan smiled faintly.

"Don’t worry. Just leave this matter to me."

As Eira rested her head on his thigh, Nolan gently stroked her hair.

Nighttime...

Caw!

The cries of several crows echoed through the silent night.

Not far from Ruins City lay a dense, abandoned forest known as Colvar Forest. The name wasn’t given without reason.

Long ago, the Demon General Colvar slaughtered a human army there, leaving behind only a few maimed survivors as a warning to humanity.

Although a thousand years had passed, the forest remained a place feared by the residents of Ruins City.

To commemorate the cruelty of Demon General Colvar, the forest was eventually named after him.

"Master, where are we going?" Eira asked curiously.

Nolan walked ahead of her with one hand tucked into his pocket.

He stared straight ahead, where nothing but darkness greeted him.

The sounds of monsters and wild beasts echoed from all around them.

"Eira, you have a sensitive nose. Can you sense any magic stones nearby?" he asked.

Eira was caught off guard by the question.

She sniffed the air for a moment and replied, "No, I can’t smell anything, Master."

Nolan said nothing and kept walking deeper into the forest.

He only had one goal—to find the magic stones Robert had hidden.

Nolan wasn’t a fool. Contrary to what Robert had claimed earlier that afternoon, he knew the Ruins still contained plenty of magic stones.

That wasn’t surprising, considering Robert was Roswell’s henchman.

The magic stones meant for the trip to Falling Star Academy with his sister and Rafine had most likely been hidden by him.

And the safest place to hide them was Colvar Forest.

Robert might be able to deceive his sister and Rafine, but he couldn’t fool Nolan.

The farther they walked, the quieter the forest became. The air felt heavy and cold.

Nolan suddenly stopped and looked around calmly.

"What an unpleasant atmosphere," he muttered.

The Eyes of Chaos appeared, and his vision changed drastically. The forest, which had looked deserted moments ago, was now teeming with life.

Hundreds—no, thousands—of mysterious auras filled the entire Colvar Forest. They were the lingering remnants of those killed by Demon General Colvar long ago.

Even after a thousand years, they still remained in this world.

Nolan fell silent for a moment before letting out a long sigh.

With a stomp of his foot, a crimson gate suddenly appeared.

"Woaa! What is that, Master!?"

Frightened, Eira quickly hid behind Nolan.

"That’s the gate to the underworld," Nolan replied casually.

The gate slowly opened and began drawing in the mysterious auras.

"Gyaah!"

They let out angry, hate-filled growls as they struggled against the gate’s pull.

"Go. The Demon Emperor Zerathos has been defeated, and so has Demon General Colvar. Don’t dwell on the past. Go where you belong," Nolan said calmly.

The auras gradually stopped resisting. If they had physical forms, they would surely have bowed their heads toward Nolan.

One by one, they were swallowed by the gate. The process took several minutes before it was finally complete.

When the gate vanished, the atmosphere in Colvar Forest became noticeably calmer and warmer.

Nolan looked satisfied and continued forward.

Suddenly—

"Master, I can smell them!" Eira exclaimed excitedly.

"Where?"

"Over there!" Eira pointed west. "I can smell a strong magical scent coming from that direction!"

Nolan nodded and walked toward where she was pointing.

"Where did Nolan go?" Seira asked calmly.

Rafine, who had been relaxing, was startled by her sudden appearance. She quickly stood up and walked over to her.

"Wasn’t he in his room?"

"No, he’s not. I already checked, and he wasn’t there," Seira replied coldly.

Rafine fell silent. She clearly remembered Nolan being in his room earlier. So where had he gone?

"Is Eira missing too?"

"Yeah." Seira shook her head. "I couldn’t find that little girl either."

"Then they’re probably out for a walk. Don’t you think?"

Hearing that, Seira found it reasonable and nodded slightly.

"I hope so. We’ll be leaving soon, and he needs to be back before then. We can’t afford to be late," she said helplessly.

"Huh? Has Mayor Robert found the magic stones yet?" Rafine asked in surprise.

"He should have by now. After all, that’s his responsibility. If he fails, I can report him to Father," Seira replied casually.

Rafine was at a loss for words. Judging by Seira’s response, it seemed Nolan hadn’t told her about the connection between Roswell and Robert.

"Should I tell her? Or not?"

Rafine hesitated.

She was afraid that telling Seira might only make things worse, given how stubborn she could be about matters like this.

"Why are you spacing out? Are you sleepy?"

Seira waved a hand in front of Rafine’s face.

Rafine snapped out of her thoughts and shook her head.

"No, I wasn’t spacing out. Sorry."

Although confused, Seira said nothing and returned to the matter at hand.

"Anyway, I’m going to meet Robert now. Do you want to come with me?"

"I’ll come." Rafine nodded firmly.

It would be dangerous for Seira to go out alone, especially in an unfamiliar place like Ruins City.

The two of them left the inn. Ruins City looked deserted, with only rows of magic stone-powered streetlights illuminating the streets.

They headed toward the manor where Robert was staying. However, before they could reach it, they spotted Robert at the end of the street with several soldiers following behind him.

"Your Highness!" Robert called out as he hurried toward her.

After bowing his head, he asked worriedly, "Why are you out so late at night?"

Seira waved a hand dismissively.

"I came to look for you. So, tell me—have you found the magic stones yet?"

Hearing that, Robert’s expression immediately turned awkward.

"I’m sorry, Your Highness," he said weakly. "I... still haven’t been able to find them."
