Chapter 978: The Only One Who Remembers Nolan

Chapter 978: The Only One Who Remembers Nolan

"Hmmm..."

A beautiful woman hummed softly as she sat on a branch high up in a towering tree.

She gently swung her legs to the tune.

Suddenly, she stopped humming and smiled.

"Have you returned, Singularity of Chaos?"

Nolan, who had been about to startle her, froze.

"How did you know I was here, Yllia?"

Yllia turned around and giggled.

"The World Tree is my body. You touched its branch, so I knew it was you."

Nolan couldn’t help but admire her before sitting down beside her.

"Am I bothering you?"

Yllia shook her head.

"Of course not. I’m actually very happy. I’ve been so lonely since you left."

Nolan was stunned. His purple eyes met her green ones, filled with concern.

"Do you still remember my other identity?" he asked, his voice trembling.

Yllia’s smile grew wider.

"Do you mean the gods’ punishment?" she teased. "They can’t affect me."

Nolan felt a wave of relief wash over him.

He had thought no one would remember him, but it turned out that someone still did. Yllia was that person.

Yllia removed his devil mask and gently traced her thumb across his face.

"They were truly cruel to make you suffer like that, Nolan," she said sadly.

Nolan gave a wry smile.

"They can’t really be blamed. I’m the one who deserves the blame."

He had broken the gods’ rules, so it was only fair that they punished him.

Yllia pulled his head against her chest and hugged him tightly.

"You don’t have to worry. I, Yllia, swear I’ll never forget you like the others did. So trust me, okay?"

Feeling her warmth against him and breathing in her refreshing scent, Nolan slowly relaxed.

"Ummm... thank you."

Yllia smiled happily and held him for a little longer before finally letting go.

"So, what brings you here?" she asked curiously.

"Yllia, can you help me break the gods’ seal that’s suppressing my full power?"

Yllia feigned surprise.

"Why are you so sure I can break it?"

Nolan smiled confidently.

"You’re the spirit of the World Tree. Surely you have abilities that surpass every other being in this world—even us Singularities, right?"

Yllia laughed at his words.

"You certainly know how to flatter someone. Since you’re flattering me, I’ll give it a try."

She placed her hand on Nolan’s chest, and her relaxed expression turned serious.

"The seal is pretty strong," she murmured.

Nolan let out a resigned sigh. But Yllia’s next words immediately made his eyes light up.

"But I can break it."

"You can?" Nolan asked eagerly.

Yllia nodded.

"But I can’t remove it completely. I’d say about sixty percent of your power is sealed. What do you think?"

"Great! That’s more than enough!"

Yllia chuckled and began breaking the seal inside Nolan.

The process didn’t take long. Yllia simply rubbed Nolan’s chest a few times before pulling her hand back.

"Try feeling it."

Nolan closed his eyes and was pleasantly surprised.

His power had returned to eighty percent—sixty percent thanks to Yllia and another twenty percent from the seal he had gradually broken himself.

"That’s great!"

Nolan clenched his fists excitedly.

"I owe you one, Yllia."

Yllia simply smiled without saying a word.

"Well then, I’ll be going now."

Nolan stood up.

"Once I’m done with everything, I’ll come back and treat you."

Whoosh!

His figure turned into a speck of light and shot into the sky.

Yllia looked away and teased, "Why are you still standing there? Don’t you want to see him, Seria? Oh, wait... I should call you the Goddess of Life."

A moment later, Seria stepped out of the darkness.

"How did you know I was hiding?" she asked curiously.

"That’s not important. Why were you eavesdropping on my conversation with Nolan?"

Yllia’s cold stare made Seria flinch.

She quickly composed herself before warning, "You’ve gotten yourself into something way over your head. The gods have already punished him, and you’re still helping him. Do you really want to face their wrath?"

Yllia’s face was filled with disgust.

"If they’re angry, so what?"

"Y-You..."

Seria was about to say something, but Yllia cut her off.

"Besides, they wouldn’t dare do anything. I’ll wipe them out if they ever come down to this world."

Seria’s chest heaved with anger. She turned around and threatened, "We’ll see how long you can keep acting so arrogant."

With that, she disappeared into the darkness.

...

The Island of Silence was located in a remote part of the ocean near the Western Continent.

Those waters were filled with terrifying sea monsters, and no sailor dared to venture through them.

Apart from the monsters, an eternal fog shrouded the entire island.

The fog was capable of deceiving any sailors who tried to pass through the area.

Buzz!

Four beams of light appeared in the middle of the fog-covered ocean.

They were Nolan, Arnold, Flugar, and Obsidia.

"Master, are you sure the Island of Silence is here?" Obsidia asked curiously.

Nolan nodded.

"I’m sure. I’ve been here before. But..."

His expression turned serious.

"To enter the island, we need a special token. Luckily, I still have mine."

He pulled out a sea-blue token and showed it to them.

"Wow! That token is beautiful!" Obsidia exclaimed.

Arnold nodded in agreement.

"Yeah, it is. But, my lord, how did you manage to get two tokens?"

Nolan had once said that a person could only possess one token in their lifetime. Once someone entered the island, they could never enter it again.

Nolan played with the token in his hand and replied casually, "I used a little trick. Before using the token, I marked it with my power. Once it disappeared, I could still sense its presence on the Eastern Continent and retrieve it."

The corners of Arnold and Obsidia’s mouths twitched.

His method was definitely sneaky, but it was also pretty clever.

"All right, let’s get started."

Nolan tossed the token down. It instantly began glowing with a dazzling blue light.

The next second, the fog covering the area slowly cleared, revealing a beautiful island that looked like paradise.

"Wow!" Obsidia’s eyes sparkled. "It’s so beautiful!"

Arnold was also in awe. The Island of Silence existed only in legends and had been sought after by people of all races.

Unfortunately, their efforts had been in vain. No one had ever managed to find it—not even the team sent by the Dragon Empire.

"Don’t be mesmerized by its beauty," Nolan warned. "The truth is, this place is extremely dangerous. A Celestial Mage could be reduced to ashes just by touching one of the poisonous plants here."

Arnold and Obsidia quickly snapped out of their awe.

Nolan was right. Beautiful places were often the most dangerous.

Nolan slowly descended as he said, "Follow me..."
