Chapter 981: Battling the World-Class Monster (2)

Boom!

The two gigantic figures clashed. Arnold was much smaller than the unicorn, so the impact sent him flying backward.

The unicorn wasn’t going to let him get away that easily. It stomped its foot, and its three horns suddenly began glowing with bright purple light.

A moment later, three beams shot toward Arnold.

"Heaven’s Bastion!"

Whoosh!

A massive wall of light appeared in front of Arnold, blocking the purple beams.

"Thanks, Flugar," Arnold said as he flapped his wings.

Flugar gave a slight nod before raising his staff high.

"Titan’s Wrath!"

Buzz!

A giant hand, twenty meters in size, appeared in the sky and crashed down toward the unicorn monster.

Boom!

A mysterious barrier blocked the attack.

"It’s not over yet!"

Flugar’s magic staff glowed brightly once more.

"Thousand Suns!"

"Astral Severance!"

Thousands of yellow fireballs resembling miniature suns appeared in the sky, filling it with their light.

At the same time, a giant, thirty-meter-long slash materialized in the air and shot toward the unicorn monster.

Boom!

The explosion was so powerful that even the dimension Nolan had created began to shake.

"Whoa!" Nolan exclaimed in awe. "This old man’s gotten even stronger!"

Previously, Flugar had been at the Beyond the World level. But Nolan could sense it clearly—the old man had become far stronger than before.

"Could he have broken through to a legendary realm like Malverna?"

If that were true, Nolan would obviously be overjoyed. The stronger his subordinates became, the greater the benefits he would reap.

While Nolan was lost in thought, the smoke from Flugar’s magical explosion slowly dissipated.

The monster reappeared, looking completely unscathed.

"D-Damn it!"

Obsidia took a step back in fear.

"It’s still fine!? How... is that possible?"

Flugar’s attack had been incredibly powerful. Even she wasn’t confident she could withstand it. Yet the unicorn was completely unharmed, without even a single scratch.

The situation made absolutely no sense.

"Not bad. You mortals are actually stronger than I expected," the unicorn taunted.

It stamped its four hooves before opening its mouth wide.

A pitch-black energy sphere appeared between its jaws, while three identical spheres formed in front of its three horns.

"Oh no!"

Arnold was startled and hurriedly shielded his body with his wings.

Flugar didn’t dare let his guard down. He raised his staff high and shouted at the top of his lungs.

"Astral Barrier!"

Purple energy emerged in front of him before stretching out to both sides, forming a wall that protected him, Obsidia, and Arnold.

"Die!"

Whoosh!

The three black spheres shot toward the wall and slammed into it at incredible speed.

But instead of exploding, the three energy spheres started spinning rapidly.

Crack!

Cracks began to appear. They were small at first but quickly spread until they covered the entire barrier.

"This isn’t good!"

Flugar panicked and hurriedly cast a teleportation spell.

Green light enveloped him, Obsidia, and Arnold.

Boom!

The wall shattered, sending pieces flying toward the three of them.

Whoosh!

However, they vanished just before the shards could reach them.

The unicorn wasn’t surprised. It was as if it had expected this.

It lowered its head and pulled its right leg back, looking like a bull ready to charge.

Whoosh!

It suddenly shot forward, heading straight toward Arnold, Flugar, and Obsidia, who had just reappeared.

Arnold spread his wings and flew toward it.

Boom!

Their collision created a terrifying explosion, sending Arnold’s body flying upward.

The unicorn flapped its wings and charged toward him once again.

"Die!"

Arnold tried to dodge, but he was too late.

Srck!

Its three horns pierced through Arnold’s body, passing straight through his back.

"Arnold!" Obsidia screamed hysterically.

Flugar’s body shook violently as he witnessed the scene. For a moment, it felt as if time had stopped.

Only Nolan remained calm and composed.

He knew Arnold was incredibly strong. Otherwise, there was no way he would have made him one of his most trusted subordinates.

"Hahaha! Die, weak dragon! You’re no match for me!" the unicorn laughed.

Arnold didn’t even cry out in pain. Instead, his red eyes flashed with a piercing, icy light.

"Defeated? I haven’t even used my full power yet, you know?"

The unicorn was caught off guard. Before it could react, Arnold closed his eyes and shouted, "Blessing of the Dragon Ancestor... activate!"

Boom!

A red aura erupted from his body and shot into the sky.

The unicorn monster was sent flying backward before crashing hard into the ground.

"What just happened?"

Obsidia stared in awe at the sight before her.

Arnold’s body swelled to over a hundred meters in length. His wings spread wide, while two new horns protruded from the center of his forehead.

His scales thickened and glowed brightly beneath the red aura surrounding him.

"This power... this aura... it belongs to the Dragon Ancestor!" Flugar exclaimed in horror.

"The Dragon Ancestor?"

Obsidia was taken aback once more.

The Dragon Ancestor was a mysterious entity said to be the origin of the current dragon race.

It had lived for so long that it had outlasted both human and demonic civilizations.

No one knew exactly how long the dragon had been alive. What was certain was that its age was not much different from that of the World Tree.

"How do you know that the aura Arnold is emitting belongs to the Dragon Ancestor?" Obsidia asked curiously.

Flugar narrowed his eyes as memories from the past surfaced in his mind.

"A long time ago, I visited the Dragon Imperial Palace as a representative of the Ancient Kingdom of Eron. I met with the emperor and had a casual conversation with him. But at one point..."

His expression turned somber.

"I accidentally entered a restricted area deep within the imperial palace and sensed an incredibly powerful and piercing aura."

His voice trembled, and his breathing grew tense.

"It wasn’t until after I returned that I learned that the restricted area was the Dragon Ancestor’s dwelling."

He looked up at Arnold, who had completely transformed into a far more majestic and terrifying dragon.

"The aura Arnold is emitting is one hundred percent identical to the one I felt back then. I’m certain... absolutely certain that Arnold is connected to the Dragon Ancestor!"

Obsidia fell silent, her face filled with disbelief.

Arnold was usually calm and relaxed.

Who would’ve guessed?

Behind that calm demeanor was such a terrifying identity.

"A figure connected to the Dragon Ancestor..." she murmured, her gaze toward Nolan growing more complicated. "Singularity of Chaos, just how deep do your secrets really go?"
