Chapter 2046: Clearing the Sky
Chapter 2046: Clearing the Sky
In the God Realm, battles between powerful Demigods rarely happened.
And most of the time, when a battle did happen, it came down to simply which one had a greater number of divinity points. One who had the upper hand in that would most likely win. Divinity points dictated the raw power of the Demigod’s immortal energy.
No surprise that the one who has more would most likely win.
Because of that, all Demigods within the God Realm dedicated themselves to their Patron God—to the God whom they were connected to. But in an equal battle such as this one, with each side having a similar level of power, the battle flow changed drastically.
Environment, strategy, deceptions, and all other advantages became absolutely paramount.
Since the Purgation Duel happened in an arena made to be equal, the two sides started at basically zero.
Now, with the Major Law from the two enemy High Millinars, the advantage tilted to the other side.
So naturally, High Lord Rashal’s side would need to tilt it right back.
Kaboom—!
Davina’s hands unleashed a torrent of light—summoning two pillars of light that were glazed with the colours emerald, silver, and pale red. She poured a humongous amount of energy into them, and the Mortal-blessing of the Greater Moon on the back of her hand hummed with power, infusing the pillars with borrowed immortal energy.
Her feet sank deeper into the sand, and she was gritting her teeth so hard that her gums throbbed.
Nothing was up there.
All of their enemies were across, and yet Davina kept firing the pillars higher and higher.
Under the Major Law of Coldness—the energy crawled slower and slower the higher it climbed toward the sky. But Davina pressed on, undeterred. Around her, the others had already begun channelling their powers, ready to protect her the moment the need arose.
Across, High Millinar Angela, Vlaos, and the other one, Julas, followed the beams with their eyes.
"What is she doing?" High Millinar Angela frowned.
"I don’t know..." High Millinar Julas shrugged. "But she’s exhausting her energy. Good for us."
"Dumbass! If we don’t know what our enemies are doing—then they are doing something beyond our own understanding!" High Millinar Vlaos barked, appalled by his comrades who hadn’t acknowledged this battle as seriously as it should. "She must be doing something."
Something snapped inside High Millinar Angela, and Julas.
Both immediately turned serious, like they never underestimated their enemies from the start.
In front, High Lord Ursa’s eyes widened, and he quickly looked over his shoulder.
"Block the beams. Now!"
Swoosh—!
Not wasting a single second, the three High Millinars immediately blasted upward, catching up to the slow pillars of light that kept on climbing. Now, the pillars were about halfway through the sky, and their speed had grown far slower compared to their initial speed.
"Guess it’s my turn, now." Vadyn stepped forward.
Her entire body seethed with steaming white energy, and her eyes turned pale like a Ghost’s.
Once she was ready, Vadyn blasted skyward, a silver streak against the frozen dark. But her unique way of flight was different from others. Instead of using her energy to shoot herself up, she threw up shattered glass all the way to the sky.
And then, her body seeped into the reflection, came out, and moved to the next.
Due to how many fragments of glass she could create, it was hard to predict her movement.
Most importantly, her speed of moving from one reflection to the next was faster.
Even faster than when someone flew straight.
Not because the unique method itself was revolutionary, but because the realm was filled completely with the Major Law of Coldness, and going straight would slow her down immensely. Using this method, on the other hand, allowed her to bypass it as her body turned metaphysical while inside the reflection.
Above, High Millinar Vlaos paused for a second.
His pale eyes tracked her ascent, following her as she rose to meet them. A flicker of admiration passed through him—her method of cheating the environment was clever, almost elegant. And she wasn’t done. Her energy was already spreading, reaching to encompass the entirety of the pillars of light.
Protecting them from external attacks that might cause it to explode or shatter.
"Breaking the pillars would be hard, unless..."
His gaze shifted to Davina, the source.
Cut her down, and the pillars would most certainly die, suffocated by the Major Law of Coldness.
But he realized that was impossible.
High Lord Rashal still stood in his spot, unmoving, and still hadn’t made a single move. His eyes remained fixed on High Lord Ursa, seemingly waiting. And then there was Rex—the one Dimantona had warned them about.
An individual whom he called extremely dangerous.
No other choice, then.
Only direct contact could stop the pillars of light from doing whatever they were aimed to do.
’I thought we were the ones who looked down on our enemies. It seemed they were also doing the same.’
A flicker of disbelief crossed High Millinar Vlaos’ face; he couldn’t believe that the enemy side thought Vadyn alone could contend with the three of them combined. Ridiculous. In fact—even attempting that was akin to a suicidal move.
But regardless, this was good for them.
Swoosh—!
High Millinar Angela and Vlaos rose like twin blue stars—arching through the frozen air with lightning speed. Unlike High Lord Rashal’s side, they were already marked, so the Major Laws present in the air wouldn’t affect them whatsoever.
"Vlaos!" High Millinar Angela roared. "Slash the pillars! Now!"
"Get ready!" High Millinar Vlaos shouted back and obeyed.
His divine armour erupted with immortal energy, crackling power that spread across the air. And then, it was sucked back like a torrent that gathered and condensed in the span of seconds. A massive war-ax materialized in his hands.
Not steel, but pure immortal energy added with others given form.
It was ten times his own size, and its blade was a pale blue crescent that solidified into something harder than any metal while the head of a snarling dragon emerged from the handle-tip. Once he was finished creating his weapon, High Millinar Angela made her move.
She turned translucent.
Her form dissolved into a Ghost-like form and poured into the war-axe, possessing it.
Ngoong—!
And the weapon swelled even larger with a deep suction, flaring its aura outward with enough force to crack the sky, while the wind of its presence churned the dark ocean below, whipping waves into frenzy, as if an ancient sea monster was riled awake.
High Millinar Vlaos’ muscles bulged.
He neared the tip of the pillars, raised the war-axe above his head, and then swung.
Swoosh—!
Just a swing from the war-axe seemed to carry the power to cut through anything in its path.
And with a devastating impact, an expanding ring that charred the air, the blade slammed into the pillars of light, but it did not connect. Something semi-transparent blocked the strike. Glass. Not hard or even rigid, but melted.
It curled around the war-axe like liquid, then snapped outward, wrapping around the wielder.
High Millinar Vlaos was pushed back as he was trapped in a cocoon of shimmering glass.
He thrashed, but the glass held firm, and Vadyn arrived above him.
"I’m fully aware that I may not be as experienced as either of you, but I have one thing that tilted the edge towards me," Vadyn smirked back, unflinching at the threat. "One thing that neither of you has, or would ever have."
"Do you truly believe you can trap us in this? That... your measly Oustification could do anything but shatter—like fragile glass against the hard floor?" He smirked down at Vadyn, condescension dripping from every word. "We have lived ten of your lifetimes—Nothing you do will surprise us. I’ll give you one chance to surrender and let nature take its course."
"Nature take its course?" Vadyn chuckled humorously.
"Yes... The strong will always devour the weak."
"And what if you’re the weaker side right now?"
"We will never be the weaker side."
Vadyn smirked back, frankly surprised by how confident her enemies were. "I’m fully aware that I am not as experienced as either of you. But I have one thing that tilts the edge in my favour." Her pale eyes sharpened. "One thing neither of you has or ever will."
"And what can that possibly be?" High Millinar Vlaos shot back incredulously.
In his mind, nothing like that exists.
But it exists.
"I am the only blood-family of High Lord Rashal. My resources are far superior to yours."
Vadyn raised her hand, and the air around her fingers shimmered.
Something beyond reality was waiting for permission to exist.
From that invisible seam, a glove materialized. It settled onto her hand with the perfect, intimate fit of something that had been crafted for her and her alone. It was white, not the sterile white of bone or even snow, but the rich, living white of mily.
Intricate patterns traced its surface, and at its center, embedded in the back of the hand, sat a gem.
High Millinar Vlaos’ eyes widened at the sight of the gem.
It was small, no larger than a thumb, but its presence filled the air with a fragrance that seemed to have a pulling attraction to his blood. It was tantalizing. And within that gem, a swirling gas churned in lazy spirals—its colors shifted between pale blue, white, and gold that seemed to breathe.
He recognized that gem.
"Y-You... That’s one of the Twenty Watcher’s Gems!"
Everyone within the Primordial Meadow knew that gem. A relic containing a sliver of the Overseer’s own power. A fragment of divinity that could elevate the divinity points of the wearer—by a staggering fifty percent.
Vadyn showed no mercy.
She activated the gem, and light erupted from its core and exploded outward.
BOOM—!
An immense wave of pressure erupted across the area—surging into everything tied to Vadyn. The glass prison holding High Millinar Vlaos and Angela constricted. Its translucent walls hardened in a heartbeat, thickening until they were nearly as dense as diamond.
High Millinar Vlaos felt the increase in pressure, but he still didn’t hesitate.
"Raarggh!"
Crash—!
Despite the hardening, his explosive aura shattered the glass around him like it was nothing.
But it was deliberate on Vadyn’s part.
All the shards from the shattered glass barrier absorbed the energy emanating from High Millinar Vlaos, and then gathered. They formed a figure of glass—and then shaped its entire frame into an exact replica of High Millinar Vlaos himself, equipped with his war-axe.
It swung and hurled him away.
From below, a third presence moved. High Millinar Julas erupted from the dark ocean—water streamed from his armor. He made use of the opportunity while Vadyn was distracted to attack the lower section of the pillars where Davina’s focus was weakest.
He struck, but the same thing happened. Glass curled and entrapped him within it.
Below, High Lord Rashal sensed the change in the air.
"Can she reach it?" He asked without looking.
Rex glanced at Davina, and then back to him. "She will."
A roar escaped Davina’s mouth as she poured everything into one last push.
Blood drizzled down from the corner of her lips, but she persevered.
Everyone watched—as the pillars neared the clouds above, and the moment the front-end of the pillars touched the clouds—her eyes flickered, and then she twisted her hands. Another pulse of energy surged through the entire length of the pillars, and then the world halted.
Kaboom—!
Davina’s energy pillars erupted, but not in a normal explosion.
Both pillars’ concentrated energy gathered—and then spread horizontally, pushing the clouds away for miles and miles across the entire infant realm. And then, the three full moons were revealed behind. Its radiance reached the shore unfiltered.
"You’re up, Rex." High Lord Rashal whispered. "Remember, three of them are your prey."
Rex’s lips curled into a devious smile. "Let there be slaughter and mayhem."
