The Invincible Full-Moon System

Chapter 2047: Shocking Growth

Chapter 2047: Shocking Growth

"What?" Vadyn looked at Rex across the table—her brows furrowed, finding it odd that this was his suggested strategy. "You want us—to focus on clearing the sky first? I am aware that your kind excelled under the full moon, and there were three of them now, but will that be enough? Should not we take out the two High Millinars with the Major Law of Ice and Coldness first?"

Rex chuckled at what she said.

Even Davina and Lilliana looked at her strangely.

For someone as old as her—she should be more aware in strategic battles, but that didn’t seem to be the case. But then again, she was not to blame, as the sisters could smell the air of possessiveness radiating from High Lord Rashal.

It was a similar kind to Rex when they first met him.

As soon as they got closer to him, that same air began to leak out from him.

"Sigh..." High Lord Rashal massaged his forehead—with three fingers. "I must’ve pampered you too much. It is my fault."

"Hey!" Vadyn pointed at him—and protested. "Instead of poking at me, can’t someone explain to me what part of what I said was wrong?"

"Okay, let me explain it to you so you can understand." Rex leaned forward and put both elbows on the table—facing Vadyn directly. "You suggested we go take out those two High Millinars first, and that’d be wasting our advantage."

"Wasting our advantage how?"

"Diamantona would certainly tell them that I’m someone to look out for first—like I told you that he is also someone to look out for. Looking at the perspective of a team with a higher number, their ultimate goal would be to thin our number even further, widening the gap, so they would certainly aim for Davina or you."

"And what’s that have to do with what I said?’

"Our own goal was to take out the High Millinars who were moving, effectively easing the pressure on you and Davina. And I’m sure they knew we would do that. So—there’s a big chance that those moving High Millinars would avoid confronting me."

Vadyn’s eyes finally widened in realization.

Her mind began to click into place, arriving at where the others concluded.

"If we attack the two stationary High Millinars, then there’s no way for you to force them to fight you."

"Exactly."

Rex expected them to avoid him, leaving him and High Lord Rashal last, so he needed a way to force the moving High Millinars to fight him head-on. And to do that, he could use the two stationary High Millinars, threatening to take them out.

Of course, those two would be hard to take out—they were ready.

And most likely have a lot of tricks up their sleeves—as their main purpose was to survive and keep the Major Law present until the enemy warriors were worn down. Even if Rex went all-out at them—he might still not be able to kill them as quickly as the moving High Millinars kill Davina and Vadyn.

However, in battle, a lot of emotions are involved.

Rex could scare them with the three full moons hanging above him. Perhaps even forced them to ditch their offensive strategy—and engage him directly, fearing that he might be strong enough to eliminate the two stationary High Millinars quicker than them.

And even if they sent only one back, Davina and Vadyn would fare all the better for it.

"In that case, let’s go with that." Vadyn finally nodded.

...

Everyone watched as the clouds parted in a spiral, unfurling like the petals of a celestial flower.

The expanding detonation of moonlight and starlight energy swept across the sky, and as it spread, the darkness above receded—revealing what had been hidden beyond it. Three full moons. Titanic and also incredibly close.

They hung in the void like watching Gods, gracing their silver light in steady streams.

And beyond them, distant stars glittered like scattered diamonds on black velvet.

Once again, the arena transformed—what had been a cold, dark battlefield now glowed under the harsh spotlight of the heavens. The full moons cast long silver streaks across the red shores, illuminating every grain of gem-swarf.

Every ripple in the dark ocean, and every breath of mist that curled from lips, was exposed.

High Millinar Vlaos gritted his teeth, avoiding a sweeping strike from his glass clone and countered.

He put his hip into the slash, and shattered the glass clone into a thousand fragments.

From his war-axe, High Millinar Angela came out and raised her gaze to the sky. He followed her gaze. Even High Millinar Julas, who finally broke free from the prison of glass, looked up, feeling the change in the air.

Now, the presence of the full moons’ energy thickened in the air.

It saturated the arena with a power that hadn’t been there before.

It pressed against their skin and hummed in their bones.

Realizing that the efforts from both Davina and Vadyn were simply to clear the sky, High Millinar Vlaos shook his head and stared at Vadyn across from him, still mid-air. She drifted away silently with a wide smile spreading across her face.

He could see the confidence in that smile—the kind that made him feel uneasy.

"What did you do?!" High Millinar Vlaos roared.

"Starting your nightmare," Vadyn replied as she moved further away. "May the Overseer give you luck."

Just then, his eyes widened as he snapped his gaze back to the shore.

Below, another figure from High Lord Rashal’s group made his move. Not attack—but spread his arms wide, his chest facing the sky, and his head tilted back. Basking in the moonlight like someone who had been trapped in darkness for years and felt sunlight for the first time.

Rex.

He drank in the moonlight like a man dying of thirst—the full moons bathed his body in silver fire, and he welcomed every drop. In the Spirit Realm, there are multiple moons, but the Black Rift had always blocked most of their blessing, leaving only scraps for him or other werewolves to feast on.

But here, in this arena after Davina cleared the sky, the full moons came down to him unfiltered.

No obstruction blotted them.

Just three full moons pouring their power into him.

Rex smiled wider and wider with his eyes closed.

His fangs were exposed and gleamed from how wide he was smiling.

Soon, once satisfied, Rex opened his eyes again and did everything he could to calm his beast side that was already banging on the door of his consciousness. He was seeing red. He had told his anger to fully compromise while he was within the God Realm, to make sure that he didn’t make another enemy.

It resisted. Badly. But he held it in.

Now, there was no need for that.

Rex combed his black hair back with both hands as his body began to swell, began to change. It wasn’t a sudden transformation, but a seamless one. Muscles rippled and swelled beneath his skin, fur bristled across his shoulders, arms, and legs, and his frame expanded into something monstrous, but in a way, it was also magnificent.

A mark appeared on his forehead, the King Mark—the tri-colored full moon that blazed with crimson, honey-gold, and abyssal-black. His curved horns caught the moonlight and glowed—responding to the full moons above like a summoned blade.

Entering the Purgation Duel, he had been nervous.

Bringing Davina into this battle had weighed on him—as he couldn’t protect her and do what he needed to do at the same time. Of course—this feeling was bearable now after everything that happened lately, realizing that a bird couldn’t fly if coddled.

But now, those thoughts dissolved like mist in the sun.

Rex had gone through the struggle between life and death countless times, and that had changed him.

Fear was replaced by something electric. Something ravenous.

Just the very notion of a battle to the death sent a current through his veins—a thrill that made his heart pound more than when he had sex. He could hear his own blood singing, and finally, the monster came out, replacing his crimson eyes with savage ones.

His head tilted back. Moonlight bathed Rex’s face as he opened his maw and howled.

Aoouuu—!

KABOOM—!

Following the howl was a destructive detonation of aura that shot skyward, caring little for the Major Law of Coldness that should’ve slowed it down. Everyone watched the climbing pillar and then felt the air churn as Rex began to walk.

Each step he took was measured, and the ground cracked beneath his feet.

Even the air around him that shimmered with heat and power spread to the area like pulses.

Underneath, the red sand and gem-swarf were pushed away—leaving a barren spot. On the other side, the ocean water retreated, pushed back by the intensity of Rex’s aura. The High Millinars above were completely caught off guard.

For the first time since the Purgation Duel began, they understood what Diamantona meant.

Understood why Rex was not someone to be underestimated.

"So-so strong!" High Millinar Vlaos gasped, arms raised to shield himself from the sheer force radiating from Rex. It was so heavy that his lungs felt like they couldn’t expand. "Has he been hiding his strength this entire time?! He’s a measly first-star Awakened Demigod before!"

"No, he wasn’t this strong back then!" High Millinar Angela shook her head. "He... He got stronger."

"But that’s impossible! Are you saying he grew this much in three days?!"

"I-I also couldn’t believe this."

"He needs to die!"

Across the shore, even High Lord Ursa’s eyes widened a little.

"You were right." He glanced at Diamantona—still standing beside him idly like a lost kid. "He’s much more dangerous than we thought."

"Just wait for a bit more," Diamantona shrugged, completely unimpressed. "He’s still holding back. It’s not his full strength. Scions from the Anger Stratum usually fought like that. Handicapping themselves first and gradually using more of their powers."

"Still holding back...?" High Lord Ursa frowned. "Then only Julas would be able to match him."

"As long as they stuck to the plan, then the Scion is not going to be a problem."

"If you’re that confident, then so be it."

On the other hand, Rex halted and fixed his gaze on Diamantona across the red shore, letting the Scion understand through his stare alone that this battle would end only when one of them was dead. The very chance of coming out of this with both of them being alive was nil.

And only then did he lift his eyes to the sky.

His crimson eyes stared at the High Millinars above, still stunned by what was happening.

Aylith... Any moment now.

<Notice: the Goddess of the Greater Moon has answered the user’s call!>

...

<Divine Quest: Lambs for the Greater Moon.>

Sacrifice for the Greater Moon: 0/2

Amplifier: 50% (Reserved for the user’s first Divine Quest)

Rewards: 100,000 Divinity Points

Time Limit: -

...

So generous. Truly generous. But then again—I’m the one who provided you with those Divinity Points, so it’s only right to be rewarded this well.

Rex currently held—one hundred and fifty thousand divinity points. Completing this new Divine Quest would double that as the System’s amplifier; fifty percent would bring the total reward to exactly one hundred and fifty thousand.

Realizing this, his lips curled into a savage smile.

Above, High Millinar Vlaos saw it and braced himself for any sudden attack.

Every instinct screamed that it was coming.

Just then, he blinked.

But the moment he opened his eyes again—Rex disappeared. Gone. The air collapsed into the space he left behind, a soft concussion of displaced atmosphere. And then, he felt it. A presence behind him that was too close for comfort.

His head spun, and his eyes widened at the sight of a phantom that was already right behind him.

BOOM—!
