Chapter 2051: The Power of High Lords

Chapter 2051: The Power of High Lords

High Lord Ursa’s face darkened, and he gritted his teeth so hard the bony sound it made—even reached where High Lord Rashal was. His ancient body surged with rage—like he was young again, and his old bones rattled as his muscles contracted.

He couldn’t stand High Lord Rashal’s arrogance.

’So what if I become a High Lord because I have a high-class family? So what if I retained my position by cheating others?’ He clenched the trident in his hand tightly as his aura began to rise, abyssal blue—and it reeked of the bad side of the ocean. ’Nobody has ever retained their position as long as I have. Every person that started with me was now gone, while I have carved my name in history!’

’Do you think anyone could achieve what I’ve achieved?!’

Now, the rage had already reached his chest, making his breathing heavier than it was.

And his aura was rising so much that the dark ocean underneath began to part obediently.

Just then, a sinister chuckle slipped from his lips as he looked up at High Lord Rashal again.

"Since you’re so adamant to say that I am dishonourable for using everything in my disposal to triumph over my enemies, then I won’t hold back." He said as his eyes widened with a maniacal light, completely unrestrained. "I won’t fight fairly against you."

"Naturally," High Lord Rashal’s eyes narrowed. "I expected no less from you."

"Tch!" High Lord Ursa wanted to scream, wanted to impale his trident into High Lord Rashal’s heart—and carve it out, but he held it in. "I know how formidable you are. I know that though you are young, only a few High Lords could match you in strength, and I am not included. The Blinding Annihilator, a nickname given to you for your innate power to destroy others until there was nothing left.

"But let me tell you something that you should know about me."

He lifted up his free hand, letting the sleeve fall.

Behind it, a deep blue mark that ran from his elbow to the back of his hand was revealed.

Along its length, there were branches that went to a circle with varying symbols.

Symbols that made High Lord Rashal frown, as some of them were familiar to him.

"I was not born in the Primordial Meadow. I am not from this realm. I was born within the Northern Sea Realm under the Dragon God of the Abyssal Ocean. Have you ever been curious why the Overseer did not like me? That’s the answer." High Lord Ursa spread his arms to the side, laughing aloud. "And now, we’re fighting above the ocean. I cannot die!!"

Boom—!

Suddenly, a bright white beam tore through the air.

It was a lance of annihilation made entirely of immortal energy that moved a thousand times faster than a bullet. Its speed alone cracked the air, blasting a shockwave ring that churned the dark ocean and made the fabric of space tremble.

Even though the arena was a hastily built realm, it was made by the Cluster Custodian.

Someone with the power tied directly to the Overseer.

And yet the beam was strong enough to actually shake its foundation.

High Lord Ursa’s laughter stopped.

A suspended silence choked the moment before his eyes bulged; the blood vessels in them throbbed like they were alive. Blood drizzled from the corner of his mouth, tracing a thin red line down his chin. His body trembled, and slowly, stiffly, he tilted his head down.

In his chest, there was a hole that wasn’t there before.

It was bigger than his own head, and the edges were charred, smoking.

Levitating above, High Lord Rashal’s open palm that was pointed directly at High Lord Ursa, sizzled— the residual heat of the beam still curled from his skin. He watched, expressionless, as the water below defied gravity, rising in a burst and flowing into the wound, mending the hole in High Lord Ursa’s chest with liquid flesh.

And then, the wound was sealed before the water turned back to skin.

"You are mistaken again, Ursa." High Lord Rashal climbed higher into the cold air. His body began to emanate a radiant white light—not wild, but immaculately controlled. His form was now silhouetted against its brightness as it spread around him. A perfect aura that framed his entire form—leaving only his cold eyes visible. "I don’t have an innate power."

High Lord Ursa looked up at him, eyes widening in shock.

Above, High Lord Rashal was no longer a rival, but a celestial eagle among Demigods.

A sovereign who was looking down at a pretender. Or even a God who was looking down at his servant.

Even before he could say it, High Lord Ursa could already tell what this was.

"I have a realm in me."

...

"What...?" Rex stared at High Lord Rashal in utter shock. "Is that even possible?"

"Having a realm inside you?" Lilliana’s brows furrowed together. "Is that even possible to do?"

Since they were going to be fighting shoulder-to-shoulder in the Purgation Duel, it was best for them to know each other’s powers exactly. High Lord Rashal proposed that they confess what they have with no restraints so that the others would know how to capitalize on each one’s combat prowess.

And as the one who suggested it, he took the lead, explaining his own power first.

Just seconds ago, he had told them that he had a realm inside him.

It was the Pure Black Realm.

Even though that was already shocking enough—he didn’t stop there. He also confessed that his power solely came from this realm. No innate abilities, no racial abilities, no other source of energy, nothing. All he had was this realm.

But the realm was extremely powerful, capable of annihilating anyone exposed to it long enough.

A purgatory of pure white that would devour anything.

"Normally, it wouldn’t be possible. Before this, my powers were much the same as Vadyn’s, with small differences at most." He gestured toward her—then lowered his hand. "But at the time, I needed to grow faster as I needed to secure an opportunity, and my original powers can’t grow that fast. And I stumbled on a treasure, one that, I later learned, contained a pocket dimension called the Pure Black Dimension."

He paused—letting the others grasp what he was saying. "But this pocket dimension was special. It has the capability to grow stronger like a realm, using the body as a catalyst for it to gain energy. As long as I devour people using its power, it would grow stronger. So, I made a choice. I decided to use my own body.

"To do that, I had to abandon everything. My bloodline. My powers. All of it. I had to become a clean slate."

Rex couldn’t believe what he was hearing.

For someone to abandon their own powers that they had cultivated for decades or even centuries—that person must have an extremely strong willpower. Even for Rex, he didn’t know if he could do something like this.

"You said Pure Black Realm earlier," Davina broke her silence. "Now you said Pure Black Dimension."

"As I said, the Pure Black Dimension could grow stronger. I specifically requested to be a part of the military precisely because of this. To feed my new power and rise through the ranks until I get to where I am today." High Lord Rashal explained. "Until I become as strong as I am today."

Rex reclined back as the pieces inside his mind began to form one big picture.

Back then, I vividly recall that the System said that his power was the Pure Black Dimension.

Now, everything became clear. It had grown stronger. How many people did he need to devour to reach his current strength...? I’ve killed and devoured tens of millions by now, and yet I’m still nowhere near his power. Billions? Or maybe more than that?

He shook his head.

Power demands sacrifice as always, and it seemed others had paid more than he had.

In pursuit of power, every possible method is on the table.

Not to mention, his growth became much simpler now. Devour more—and he’d grow stronger. System, that’s really convenient. Why didn’t you give me a pocket dimension like that instead of a realm? Instead of the Silverstar Genesis?

<Notice: In the long run, having a realm is much better than having a unique pocket dimension.>

Fine, I’ll give you the benefit of the doubt.

"And what can this Pure Black Realm do?" Davina asked again.

"It can disintegrate anything exposed to it long enough, as long as the gap between me—and the enemy is not devastating." He replied and allowed his lips to curl a little. "For the Purgation Duel, I’m confident that nobody there could sustain my power."

...

"I have a realm in me that’s much bigger than your puny, measly pocket dimension, and you brag about being unkillable?" High Lord Rashal clicked his tongue rapidly and shook his head like someone utterly disappointed. "You know, out of the many enemies I’ve fought across thousands of wars, I killed them without breaking this face."

He pointed at his own face, donned with an ice-cold expression.

One that High Lord Ursa hated so much.

"But when I annihilate you, when I erase you from existence, this face will break. And in your very last breath, you will see the biggest smile you have ever seen in your life." He tilted his head—as immortal energy flooded his body until the sky turned white. "You brag about being unkillable with the ocean at your side. In that case—" his voice rose into a roar, "—I will kill you as many times as it takes until it is completely drained!"

Boom—!

High Lord Rashal turned into a white meteor—a streak of blinding radiance that tore through the sky, aimed straight at High Lord Ursa. There was no hesitation in his charge. No doubt. Just pure—absolute intent to kill.

Across, High Lord Ursa spat.

Now is not the time for words anymore. It is time to fight.

He let out an overbearing bellow filled with contemptuous rage as his body contorted—his flesh twisted and scales erupted across his skin. In the span of a heartbeat, he was no longer a man. He turned into a serpentine ocean dragon—massive and thick with overlapping scales that gleamed like wet rocks from the bottom of the ocean.

And his aura broke the boundaries of the realm around him.

He coiled once and then launched himself head-on at the incoming meteor.

The impact was devastation.

KABOOM—!

An explosion of white and deep blue erupted at the point of collision—a shockwave that spread across the entire arena. Miles away, the battle between the others halted for a heartbeat as the overbearing blast wave washed over them.

High Millinar Julas was slammed by the force, hurled spinning sideways through the air.

His body tumbled before he caught himself.

Davina was thrown back too, the immense physical force knocking the air from her lungs. She recovered quickly—years of training had made her body respond before her mind could—but when she tried to breathe, she clicked her tongue.

Her lungs felt heavy. Sluggish.

It seemed the Law of Ice had already seeped into her from trying to get away from High Millinar Julas.

She looked up and met the eyes of High Millinar Julas.

He was already recovering, already turning toward her, already hunting.

She turned and blasted away.

The chase resumed. Two streaks carved through the frozen sky—one dark and relentless, the other emerald and desperate. Davina was slower. She was aware of it. Her body was fighting the ice inside her, and every breath was a battle.

But every time High Millinar Julas closed in, she moved without looking.

An aerial roll. A sudden drop. A sharp pivot that left him grasping empty air while she shot away.

He growled in frustration, "It’s like she has eyes on her back!"
