Chapter 1949: Unruly Students
Xi Yue was relieved when she heard this.
The healing power of wood spiritual power was far more effective than that of water, but possessing such power was a double-edged sword. In places like the Miluo Continent, those with wood spiritual roots were hunted down. She would rather go without it than risk being captured.
It seemed there was nothing to fear for now, as long as she kept the Circle of Life hidden.
As they spoke, the two of them had already entered the grounds of the Water Medicine Department at the medical academy.
The Water Medicine Department and Wood Medicine Department were housed in adjacent, circular, and massive buildings, standing side by side.
From where Xi Yue stood, she could see the teachers and students inside the building attending their classes, yet no sound reached her ears. It was clear that a barrier was in place, keeping the noise contained.
Wen Jiaquan looked at Anling Yao with a reassuring smile. “Go ahead and attend your class. Since you’re recommended by Xi Yue, there’s no issue with waiving your punishment. Besides, I’ve heard about your situation—it wasn’t your fault. Missing class was unavoidable for you. There’s no need to worry.”
Anling Yao gave Wen Jiaquan a deep bow, then flashed a grateful smile at Xi Yue before quickly making his way into the Water Medicine Department building.
Wen Jiaquan turned to Xi Yue and said, “I’ll take you to meet Elder Yu and the other instructors. Elder Yu will assign you to a class and students to teach…”
Just as Xi Yue was about to nod, a loud crash echoed from the direction of the Wood Medicine Department.
The solid barrier was fluctuating violently due to some vibration, as if it could no longer contain it anymore.
Xi Yue looked over in surprise and saw chaos in one of the teaching buildings there.
A group of more than a dozen young men and women surrounded a middle-aged man, laughing boisterously with a swaggering attitude.
The middle-aged man appeared to be at the Void Darkness Stage, yet in that moment, he could only curl up on the ground, clutching his head. His mouth opened and closed, shouting something incomprehensible, his body trembling violently.
However, the barrier was still in place, so Xi Yue couldn’t make out what they were arguing about.
Wen Jiaquan also saw the scene and let out a sharp click of his tongue, his brow furrowing. “It’s them again?!”
Xi Yue looked at him in confusion, but before Wen Jiaquan could explain, the middle-aged man could no longer endure and suddenly leaped out of the window in a frenzied manner.
Despite the window being glass, the middle-aged man showed no hesitation. He crashed through it, tumbling outside and landing right in front of Xi Yue and Wen Jiaquan.
Shards of broken glass were embedded in the middle-aged man’s body, his entire form soaked in blood. Yet, he seemed oblivious to the pain. As soon as he staggered to his feet, he made a desperate attempt to flee.
It was unclear whether it was a slip of his feet or sheer panic, but as soon as he got to his feet, he collapsed back to the ground.
“Are you alright, Dr. Li?” Wen Jiaquan called out, stepping forward to help him up.
But just as Wen Jiaquan approached, the man known as Dr. Li let out a piercing scream, scrambling to his feet and shouting as he ran. “Help! Help! They’ve killed someone! They’re demons! I won’t teach them. I refuse to teach them! Ah~!“
The shrill, piercing scream quickly faded into the distance, but the man’s disheveled and miserable appearance left Xi Yue stunned, unable to look away.
Isn’t he a cultivator at the Void Darkness Stage, a mentor from the Heavenly Medical Valley? Aren’t the instructors at the Heavenly Medical Valley supposed to be revered and held in high esteem? ṜãΝоβΕṡ
Xi Yue couldn’t help but glance toward the shattered window, and her eyes quickly locked with a pair of unruly, defiant eyes.
Through the broken window, a tall young man, around 18 years old, with a dangerously alluring look, stood watching her with a half-smile, his gaze both mocking and enigmatic.
