Chapter 1333: Getting Hired
Chapter 1333: Getting Hired
From the simplest explanation Lord Victor gave him, it seems that after the Star Monarch Era, the heavens had made it impossible for Supremes to become Celestials.
In fact, in the past billion years, the number of Celestials that appeared in this known universe is less than a dozen, and they all came from the Heaven’s Court.
Only ten Supremes were allowed to become Celestials. The rest achieved that milestone in the Forbidden Universe after spending billions of years there.
However, they returned as heaven’s rejects, being rejected by heaven. However, since they came back as Celestials, they didn’t care too much about the ill treatment the heavens were giving them.
Regardless of what the heavens thinks or how cruel it acts, they had become Celestials, and that was what mattered to them.
It was like someone felt threatened by Celestials, and so they had made it impossible to become a Celestial in this universe.
However, just like how the Paragon was able to survive most ordeals, the supremes also figured out how to become a Celestial.
In fact, they found out two ways to become a Celestial
The first option was to venture into the Foreign Universe, where the invading forces of the foreign race were from. Naturally, only a madman would dare go there, since the danger involved was just too much.
So, since that wasn’t an option, the next best yet equally dangerous option was the Forbidden Universe, where the once-vibrant forbidden race used to live before their fall at the hands of the Doom Universe.
When Klaus inquired about whether the forbidden race was still there, Lord Victor said yes, albeit fragmented into several chunks and loaded with ancient horrors.
Only a few who venture there ever returned. However, every single day, Supremes ventured there, with hopes and dreams that they can make it and become Celestial.
Lord Victor has the same dream and do did every immortal, demigod, god or supreme.
"No wonder you have nine Immortal Rings," Klaus said, causing Lord Victor to furrow his brow in shock.
Even Rory turned and stared at her father in shock...
"Oh, it seems I have made a blunder." Klaus smiled, unsure of what to even say. It seemed the fact that Lord Victor was a nine-Immortal Ring wielder wasn’t even known by his daughter.
This also meant he intended to hide it from her... However, Klaus may have just made it impossible for him to keep it hidden anymore.
"Is he telling the truth, Father?"
"Yes. I indeed have nine Immortal Rings. However, I intend to get twelve before forming my Law Core and becoming a demigod. Don’t worry, I still have a couple of million years before reaching the rank of a Supreme."
"Why didn’t you tell me?" Rory asked, clearly feeling betrayed by her father.
Lord Victor smiled and answered, "I said nothing because you would have tried to put yourself in danger just to catch up to me.
Or do you think I didn’t know you have been working hard so you can join me when leaving for the Forbidden Universe?"
Rory opened her mouth to speak, but no words came out. She had indeed been working toward escorting her father to the Forbidden Universe, not to become a Celestial herself, but to protect him.
Her father was her idol, so Rory wanted him to succeed at all costs.
"You are still young, Rory. You have a lot of years ahead of you, so instead of worrying about an old man, spend your youth living the best life you can have.
Trust me, when I was your age, I was the same as you. I wanted to go with my father, but in the end, I had to abandon that and focus on myself.
So while it is admirable that you seek to protect me, know that I am in no way weak. I have nine immortal qi, like Lord Klaus said, and soon I will be forming my tenth.
That is even why I wanted to talk to you," Lord Victor said, turning toward Klaus.
"Me? How can I possibly help you form an Immortal Ring? You are not planning on making me kill an Immortal Lord–level calamity beast, right?"
"No." Lord Victor shook his head, letting a smile appear on his face... "I want to hire you for a mission."
"Oh, I am all ears."
"The reason why Ophelia was hunted down and you had to go to her aid was because she accidentally bought a map fragment that leads to a place full of treasures"
"The Jade Ant Queen’s Nest."
"Indeed. It is a very dangerous realm, a place where treasures beyond measure could be found. The map fragment that Ophelia bought leads to a cave that houses the Divine Immortal Liquid. I want you to lead a team of five Immortals to retrieve it for me.
I would have gone myself, but with the Voidbound Corsairs now targeting my people, I need to stay to handle that."
Klaus turned and looked at Rory. "Why me? How about her?"
"She is part of the team you will be leading."
"Oh, I am lost here. She is an Immortal Lord with six Immortal Rings, while I am a peak Empyrean with only one Immortal Ring. I don’t know if you get what I am trying to say."
Lord Victor nodded and smiled. "The fact that you are a mortal, yet you have an Immortal Ring, is why I need you to lead them.
You would be leading five Immortal Lords, to be precise. However, the moment you enter the Nest, they would be suppressed to true Immortals.
While they would have their Immortal Rings, their combat power would take a hit, so I need someone like you who can fight across realms to lead them.
Your combat power would remain the same, so basically you would have more freedom than them. I will also pay generously.:
Klaus nodded, already thinking about the money. While he could get some from the Dark Space Company, he knew that with plans to live ten lives at the same time, even that wouldn’t be enough.
Just like Lord Victor, he also had plans to form at least twelve Immortal Rings each for all ten bodies, so he needed a lot of money, and now, it seemed he would be earning some.
"I don’t mind venturing into a treasure nest. However, I must first become an Immortal, since I am already at the bottleneck."
"I understand. Rory will take you to a barren planet, since I learned Paragons have some of the most dangerous tribulations in the universe."
"That is true. However, I am not the Paragon at the moment, so just any ordinary place would be okay."
Lord Victor and Rory narrowed their eyes, clearly confused.
Klaus smiled and said, "Even if I tell you, you wouldn’t understand. I am the Paragon, but in this body, I am not the Paragon."
"So you are a clone?" Rory asked, but Klaus shook his head.
"I am not. I am a real person, like you."
"Then why are you not the Paragon?" she asked again...
"Because I don’t want to... It is complicated. However, you would soon understand. So to make it simple for you, I am the Paragon; however, as far as the heavens are concerned, I am just Klaus Hanson, an ordinary warrior."
The father-and-daughter duo clearly didn’t understand, but Klaus also wasn’t about to tell them about his cultivation technique.
In the end, Rory took him to a barren land somewhere far from the cities to have his fake tribulation. The real tribulation was about to descend on a planet far away.
