Chapter 1336: Early Immortal Tribulation (3)
It is one thing to stand in one place, undistracted and defending against ultra-powerful tribulation spears, and another to be under the assault of a True Immortal who had already formed six Immortal Rings while defending against the same powerful spears.
Naturally, the latter makes things much more complicated.
First, there is just no way in hell a True Immortal should possess six Immortal Rings. There is just no way. Forming Immortal Rings takes time and a lot of resources.
If a price tag is to be assigned to Immortal Rings, then if 1 million Heaven’s Crystals were used to form one Immortal Ring, the second Immortal Ring would need 10 million, and it increases from there.
So the fact that a True Immortal has six such rings is just too unbelievable.
Second, there is the issue of the spears still raining down on him. Klaus could already sense it. The fourth spear coming was just too dangerous to be distracted right now.
So if that is the case, then it means he has to split his attention between the Heaven’s Guardian and the three remaining spears.
However, that is where the situation gets dire. Since he believed this Heaven’s Guardian was not a True Immortal simply because he had more Immortal Rings than what a True Immortal should have, then he had to consider the fact that he was dealing with an Immortal King or even worse, an Immortal Emperor.
His answer partially came when his sword met the crescent-shaped blade the Heaven’s Guardian was wielding. The impact shook his hand, and he was pushed back a few meters.
Before Klaus could stabilise himself, the Heaven’s Guardian was upon him again. His second attack was even more deadly.
He came for a sweeping slash with his blade, but Klaus ducked and stabbed his sword forward, aiming for his stomach. The Heaven’s Guardian saw through him and merely sidestepped.
However, Klaus wasted no time in even considering countering, since the fourth spear was almost out, and the fact that there were dozens of runes carved on it showed he was in for a dangerous moment.
Klaus split his mind, one part handling the battle while the other half focused on the spear.
’He is faster, stronger, and super motivated. I cannot underestimate him,’ Klaus said inwardly, and then his focus moved to the spear.
It appeared and unleashed a crushing pressure, the kind that slowed Klaus’s speed a bit. However, he didn’t mind. He kept defending against the Heaven’s Guardian while making sure he didn’t mess up his defensive measures against the incoming spear.
The Heaven’s Guardian was persistent. It appeared that the pressure from the spear wasn’t affecting him, so he was moving much faster, making sure his attacks kept coming nonstop.
Even worse, the spear was descending rather slowly, and with each movement, the pressure bearing down on Klaus increased.
"This is getting annoying. It is like they want to slow me down so that this loser can finish me off," Klaus muttered, already sensing he was getting cornered as the spear drew closer.
The closer the spear came to Klaus, the more aggressive the Heaven’s Guardian became. He did not slow down.
If anything, he became more aggressive with the passing of the second.
His four eyes burned brighter as he pressed the attack, the crescent-shaped blades in his hands moving in sharp, ruthless arcs. Each strike was clean, efficient, and aimed at killing. There was no wasted movement, no unnecessary flourish.
He was timing his attacks and making sure every opening in Klaus’s defence was exploited.
This pointed to an experienced warrior whose understanding of combat had already reached a much deeper level. It then made him someone to be greatly feared.
"Hey, four eyes, what do you say we take a time out? I have a spear situation to take care of," Klaus said; however, he was attacked that instant, making him smile weakly, seeing how fast his answer came.
Klaus retreated half a step, blocking one blade with his sword while twisting his body just enough for the second blade to graze past his shoulder.
Clang!
The impact sent vibrations through his arm, and before the echo could fade, the Guardian was already attacking again.
Klaus suddenly felt a threat to his life when, all of a sudden, the spear that was slowing down shot forward with deadly speed.
At the same time, the Heaven’s Guardian retreated and unleashed two arcs, aiming to distract Klaus from the main danger, which is the spear.
Naturally, it worked. Instead of merely waiting for the spear to pierce and crush him into meat paste, he now had to defend against the sword arcs.
Klaus was caught in a bind. However, as he always does, whenever he finds himself in a situation like this, he taps into the many lives he has lived and pulls out the best defence.
Luckily for him, he has the perfect defence...
"Monk’s Embrace." Klaus positioned one arm in a monk-like pose. Around him, however, two large palms opened and enclosed his entire body.
Then, from the void, the Grim Void Blade appeared and attacked the spear that was coming, instantly shattering it. The sword arcs also landed on the defence Klaus manifested, rendering them useless.
"Nice job, Seya," Klaus said, ducking low just as one of the crescent-shaped blades came flying at his head.
Klaus may have defended against the arcs and the fourth spear; however, the Heaven’s Guardian was still there, and his determination to kill was stronger than ever.
However, Klaus had also found a way to win. He is just too smart to let the heavens have all the advantage.
"Seya, go back and wait for my signal." The Grim Void Blade vanished again, and this time, when Klaus’s focus moved to the four-eyed Heaven’s Guardian, a cold look could be seen in them.
"For someone with four eyes, you clearly lack insight." Klaus stomped on the ground, and the ground started to change, transforming into quicksand.
The Heaven’s Guardian saw this and tried to take flight to avoid getting drowned in the quicksand. However, just when he was about to make that move, Klaus formed a hand seal and activated his Space and Gravity Laws.
"Let’s call it a no-fly zone." The moment he said that, Heaven’s Guardian lost his ability to fly, sending him crashing to the ground.
"I like things more grounded, so don’t take it to heart that you lost your ability to fly." Klaus grinned, then put his next plan into motion.
At the same time, the fifth spear was almost out of the cloud. It was, of course, locked on him. Sensing this, Klaus smiled and winked at the Heaven’s Guardian, who was doing his best to stand on the quicksand.
He was coating the quicksand with ice, allowing him to stand much more firmly.
However, Klaus didn’t seem to care; instead, he pointed up.
"One good thing about pressure is that it needs a surface area or an object to act on. However, since you have been written out of the equation, I guess I have to find a way to write you back in. This is why I created this quicksand. It will allow you to feel what I am feeling."
Klaus took a step forward, then grinned even more widely. "Now, let’s conduct an experiment and see how quicksand, fire, and pressure react when mixed."
The quicksand started heating up as he said that. The heavens’ guardian finally frowns.
