Chapter 1472: Immortal Pool
Chapter 1472: Immortal Pool
Traversing through the Jade Nest turned out to be more harrowing than Klaus had expected.
It had been two days already since they arrived inside the Jade Nest, and so far they had fought ten battles, run from two, barely survived one, and now, as they stood frozen, their gazes locked on a three-headed panther, the need to run filled their hearts.
While the battle Rory and the three teammates fought was a bit harrowing, the past two days were very wild, especially when they mistakenly stumbled into the nest of a demigod-level serpent after escaping from another demigod-level giraffe.
They managed to escape thanks to Klaus’s understanding of several laws.
The law of gravity allowed him to slow down the serpent for a few seconds, giving both Echo and Rory the opportunity to use the law of space to move them far away by compressing and expanding space.
Rory compressed it, allowing them to move several km in a single step. Then Echo expanded it, increasing it further.
This bought them ample time for Klaus to use the void to transport them to safety. A few minutes after escaping the two demigods, they were attacked again by another serpent, this time an Immortal Lord.
The battle was a bit dangerous, considering Omen nearly lost his arm. The man was injured, so he couldn’t join the next battle.
Thankfully, after their tenth battle, they managed to kill 7 beasts.
Klaus managed to add two more immortal rings to his reserve, making 8, and so did Rory, who now has 9 immortal rings, while the rest of his teammates managed to add just one, having 7 immortal rings each.
If the lion staring at them is dealt with, then Slate will be getting his second immortal ring, raising his total to 8.
The only problem was that the beast was a half-step demigod. While it is not yet a demigod, it is not an Immortal Lord either. Ordinary Immortal Lords will appear like bugs before it.
Basically, it is more dangerous than a peak Immortal Lord.
Klaus turned to his teammates and could tell they were beyond tired. Their last battle drained them.
Unlike him, who could swap places with Kaden (his other incarnation training inside the second level of the inheritance tower), they only have one body.
Rory, who has two forms - archer form and lunar combat Princess form - had already exhausted both forms.
Their pale looks and dull expressions showed they would love to sit out this battle.
Of course, if this location were an ordinary place, he would have suggested they retreat. However, just beyond the cliff in the distance, the Immortal Pool, where the Immortal Essence Water can be found, resides.
Killing the three-headed lion is of utmost importance, and so he wanted to get it done.
’Icon, status report.’
[The master is on his own here. Lady Rory is down to 20% of her reserve in both Immortal and Lunar energy, and her spatial essence is even lower, only 5%. As for the other three, Warrior Omen is down to 10%, and so is Warrior Echo. Warrior Slate is much lower, only 7% left.
It would be advisable for the master to face this beast on his own. Of course, the master is not its match, so using an external weapon will do.]
’So I have to use my SS-class Lightning Gun, huh?’ Klaus brushed his chin and smiled. ’How many charges do I have before it runs out of juice?’
[Three shots, master.]
’I see. I only need one.’
Klaus turned and looked at his teammates. "Relax, guys, just beyond that cliff is our destination. I will personally handle this bastard, then we can move."
"A-Are you sure?" Rory asked, a pained expression appearing on her face. She, after all, promised her sisters she would protect Klaus. Now, it appeared he was the one doing the protecting.
"Don’t worry, Rory, I just need one clean shot and this sucker will be put down."
Turning, he looked at the lion for a brief moment and extended his hand. "I will be needing your crescent blades though."
She nodded, retrieved her beautiful Lunar Crescent Blades, and handed them to Klaus. He received them, and then with one swift move, they flew and hovered behind him in a crossed shape.
"Alright, you all should open your eyes and learn how it is done." With a smile on his face, he moved and appeared 2km from the lion.
It let out a low growl and snorted, fumes appearing from the nostrils of the head facing him. Technically, all heads were looking at him, so three sets of fumes appeared, a terrifying sight no less.
"Well, first rule of fighting a being more advanced than you, make them confused." Klaus moved, and a copy of him moved with him. Soon, another version appeared from both his main body and the clone.
Then one appeared from each of the four, making eight in all. Soon, sixteen of them appeared, and that multiplied to 32 and soon 64. Before long, over 2048 copies of him appeared and spread across the place.
Rory and the others, who tried to focus on the main version of him, were soon overwhelmed by the illusion Klaus had manifested into reality.
Before long, the lion was also trapped, so it started to attack, shooting beams at the many versions of Klaus. However, whenever a clone was obliterated, two more copies took its place.
Before long, over 10,000 copies of Klaus appeared in the space, causing the lion to growl hatefully.
Rory, who lost track of him, tapped into the connection they shared, knowing it was the only way she could see him. And she was right. However, she became shocked when she saw where Klaus was.
60 meters from the lion, Klaus stopped and pointed a green revolver at the lion. Just then, all 12,064 copies of him did the same.
This put the lion on high alert. However, when 12,000-plus beams fired at it, it became confused, unsure which one to defend.
Of course, despite there being thousands of beams, only one was the real deal. However, it was already too late when it sensed it.
The beam struck its forehead, leaving a hole.
Klaus moved a second later, and the crescent blades spun into action. In no time, he was atop the lion’s large back, both blades carving arcs in the air.
The lion, whose middle head had been obliterated, sensed him, but, as before, it was too late to react, causing both heads to come off cleanly.
Klaus jumped down and exhaled. "Ah, that was easier than I expected."
In the distance, Rory and the others widened their eyes, shock and fear evident on their faces. Naturally, they all wanted to say the magic words, ’what the fuck.’
However, they lost their voices.
None of it made sense, yet somehow Klaus made it even more mind-blowing.
If the fact that he just pulled out an SS-class weapon wasn’t shocking enough, then how about that insane calculation? He was precise, a feat that requires extreme calculation and focus.
How was he able to achieve that?
"Okay, we can leave now." Klaus stored away the body of the beast and threw the core toward Slate, who caught it and stared at him in a daze.
But then again, if they knew how much Klaus had sacrificed just to look this cool, they would sympathize with him.
’I just pray we get more than one drop of the Immortal Essence, else I will need to take Kaden’s reserve of energy and make him cultivate to recover.’
They left for the Immortal Pool a few minutes later.
