Chapter 1477: Time Law
Chapter 1477: Time Law
The laws of the universe don’t work like normal cultivation and martial techniques. These two grow in line with the warrior’s strength and rank. The stronger they become, the more powerful the techniques become.
Cultivating the laws takes a different route. Instead of increasing in strength as one levels up, it focuses rather on comprehension and understanding.
It only grows as one’s understanding of that particular law deepens. Without comprehension, the laws will become useless regardless of how many affinities one has.
However, if one were to dive deep into the laws, there is a question many ask: "Do people awaken skills and techniques based on the law, or do they have to learn from already created ones?"
For as long as anyone could remember, skills like space seal, space lock, time loop, and several others were already available and could be learned as long as one’s comprehension is high enough.
Those are common to all Law cultivators.
Some people also wonder if people can awaken special law skills.
The answer is yes.
However, before one can do that, their comprehension level should at least be at the Super stage. A few geniuses can awaken skills at even the medium stage—Klaus is one of those geniuses.
However, he goes beyond that. Klaus is a prodigy among monsters.
In the realm of law skills, he had awakened special ones called Domain skills. These skills interact with reality, just like how some formations and treasures do.
An example of such a skill is the [Heaven’s Engine], which he awakened when he comprehended the law of gravity to the high affinity level.
It has three layers, each layer increasing the gravity on a target by several times.
This time, however, he had awakened another one, and it is just as dangerous.
In fact, moving from the Early stage to Immortal King allowed him to awaken quite a few. However, in this incarnation, he can only use these two.
So just as the [Heaven’s Engine] held the bird in place, he struck with both hands, the scythe and sword moving at deadly speed to score the first win.
"Oh, you don’t,"
Klaus saw that the bird was about to wrap itself with its wings, so he made another move.
"Chrono Transformative Disc"
One of the hands hovering behind him moved, and a disc-shaped item radiating a green aura appeared. For a moment, time slowed down.
But it wasn’t for long since the moment the disc appeared, Klaus had already made a deadly play. The attacks he aimed at the bird were pushed forward, or more like fast-forwarded, landing on the bird before its wings could cover it.
SCREEEEECH
A loud screech sounded, a terrifying aura emanating from its body. The scythe carved a large wound into its right side, while the sword left a pretty deep cut.
"There is more where that came from." Klaus grinned, and the hand holding the Chrono Transformative Disc activated a mechanism, causing a green circle to appear from it and start to spin around it.
The bird moved, its beak aimed for Klaus’s chest. However, it never got to land its attack since Klaus decided to cheat.
"Time Isolation,"
For a brief moment, he isolated himself from time, allowing the bird to miss that attack. However, it didn’t end there. Klaus wanted to win, and so he made a third move.
The two hands holding the weapons attacked again, only this time, he wouldn’t even allow the bird to see him coming. Also, he most certainly did not plan to waste his Time essence on this bird.
Just when the weapons moved, Klaus made his move.
"Time Skip,"
He jumped a second ahead, allowing him to slip through its defense. Yet again, the attacks landed on its body, and this time, the painful sound that came from its mouth was just too intense.
It was forced to crash, and for a moment, it failed to rise. It was still under the suppression of the Heaven’s Engine, so that, coupled with the fact that it had sustained four grave injuries, made it hard for it to stand.
Rory seized the moment and was about to unleash a devastating arrow when Klaus gestured for her to stop.
"Huh, why did you stop me?" she asked, her expression a bit dark. Recalling the painful attacks she had to endure, denying her the chance to land a fierce arrow made her feel a bit angry.
"Because no matter what you do, we will never win," Klaus said with a smile and turned toward the bird. A few seconds later, he turned and looked to his left and nodded, "Isn’t that right, my lady?"
For a moment, nobody knew what was happening. Then the void shattered, and a demi-bird appeared.
She had a human body, but a few features, like her eyes and feet, were birdlike. There were also her wings.
The moment she appeared, the bird on the ground vanished, and an unfathomable aura enveloped everyone. She moved closer, and with every step she took, the pressure in the air increased, forcing Klaus and his team to endure.
Klaus, at some point, moved the Heaven’s Engine over his friends, using the law of gravity to counter some of the pressure while they endured the rest.
When she was 20 meters away, she stopped and looked only at Klaus.
"How did you find me?"
"Very simple, really. When I attacked your clone body, I sensed a shift in the void. Naturally, as someone with a super affinity for the void, I didn’t fail to pick up on that fluctuation."
"I see. I suppose you can be a useful tool," she turned and looked at Rory and the others, "You all will pass as my food."
A pale smile appeared on Klaus’s face. He slipped one hand into his pocket and pointed the other at the bird lady. "I believe you are mistaken about something here. You see, I have an offer you cannot resist. In fact, if you hear what I have to say, you will kneel down and beg me to take you as my servant,"
"Oh, is that the case?"
Klaus nodded, "Indeed."
"Go ahead then. Tell me what you have in mind that will force me to submit to you."
"I don’t suppose you would mind if I move closer. What I have to say is a secret."
The bird lady studied him for a few seconds and nodded, "Why not? If I start becoming wary of an existence so insignificant such as yourself, I will become a joke."
Klaus grinned and walked forward, approaching the bird lady, to the horror of his teammates and the Jade Princess.
When he was close, he walked to her side, moved his head closer, and spoke the magic words...
He wasn’t even done when the bird lady’s eyes widened, her body trembling... "Impossible,"
"Ah, I doubt that, my lady," Klaus smiled and pricked his finger, causing a drop of golden blood to appear. A wave of delicious smell permeated the air, causing the bird lady to move her head closer to the blood.
Klaus wiped the blood away and walked back, a smug smile forming on his face. "Do you believe me now, or should I give more proof?"
For a moment, Rory and the others were lost at what was happening. Soon, however, their eyes widened, jaws hanging open.
Under their stunned gaze, the bird lady went down on her knees and bowed to Klaus.
"I greet the Beast Monarch."
