Chapter 1755: True Fear
Chapter 1755: True Fear
“Hahahahaha…” A wave of chilling laughter suddenly shrouded the battlefield, coming from Asmodeus, sending waves of fear across the battlefield.
Many turned to face him, both bodies of Klaus included.
“Finally, I have gotten two more Pseudo-Primordials.”
Before him, two undead warriors with overflowing auras remained on their knees, looking at him with eyes filled with reverence and respect.
The 8th and 9th Omens had been turned into undead, and considering they were upgraded with the bodies of two powerful Celestials, they were now even more terrifying than they were 10 mins ago.
They are now a part of the Paragon Team, and they would be helping him slaughter his way across the Ancient Battlefield.
The once weapons of the Foreign Race had now become weapons of the paragon who will use them to slaughter their own kin.
What Klaus wanted to achieve is more than one can imagine.
He wants to make sure that by the time he leaves, the Foreign Race has either submitted to him with no chance of rebellion or been completely annihilated.
He is no fool.
He knows that when it comes to the Foreign Race, the loss of nine Pseudo-Primordial-level warriors is nothing. Sure, the Nine Deadly Omens had killed thousands of warriors, bringing pain and fear to the universe.
In the past 100 years alone, they have killed thousands of Supremes, hundreds of Celestials, and, quite recently, they killed a Pseudo-Primordial.
Maybe to the Foreign Race, Pseudo-Primordials aren’t anything to them since they have quite a lot of them.
But to the universe, a single Pseudo-Primordial is as important as a galaxy. They cannot afford to lose them, and so whenever one falls in battle, the entire Ancient Battlefield mourns.
But the Foreign Race has many Pseudo-Primordials, and so they can always send more.
However, the problem arises when the warriors they send are killed or turned into weapons to be used against them.
That is what Asmodeus represents.
He is someone who can turn Pseudo-Primordials from the Foreign Race into his undead and then use them against them.
In short, Asmodeus is now someone they cannot allow to continue living—well, he is an undead, so he hasn’t been alive for who knows how long now.
Unfortunately for them, they don’t know that, and so they would try to kill him, which won’t work unless Klaus dies.
To them, they only know that Asmodeus is a danger to their kind, and if he is allowed to live on, the danger he alone would bring to them would be so much worse.
After all, if these nine are taken care of, they would become nine Pseudo-Primordials that would fight for the universe.
Meaning the universe has, at the moment, gained two more Pseudo-Primordials, and seven more will soon join them. That is already a deep cut to the pride of the Foreign Race.
But who is Asmodeus if not the most evil person in the entire universe? They thought they were evil, but clearly, they haven’t met Asmodeus.
He flashed a mysterious smile and said:
“Say your pledge, my two new generals.”
The 9th Omen spoke, kneeling on one knee while he held a Greatsword in one hand, the tip jammed into the ground:
“I, Veyrath, the Omen of Finality, pledge to heed the command of the Undead Sovereign and fight for this universe against all who seek to destroy all life and freedom, so give me strength.”
Asmodeus smiled and nodded…
“I, Serakha, the Omen of Decay, pledge to follow the commands and instructions of the Undead Sovereign. I pledge to fight for those who can’t and bleed for the peace and freedom of this humble universe, so give me strength.”
Two twin sickles hung on her back, the look of determination plastered on her face as she looked at Asmodeus as if he were her lord and saviour.
In some way, he is. After all, he gave her this new life, one that makes her undead, meaning death as she knows it cannot claim her unless under some special circumstances.
“Rise and stand proud among your peers, for soon, you will be fighting the enemy together as a team. And don’t worry, your other friends will soon be joining you.”
Just then, Matthew, who had wanted to kill his opponent a while back, walked out of the storm holding the barely conscious body of Vaelgor, the Omen of Oblivion.
All around the Ancient Battlefield, thousands covered their mouths, looking at perhaps the most shocking sight yet.
Most of the time, when two people of the same cultivation base fight, even if one wins, both are supposed to have cuts and injuries on their skin. It had always been the same unless you were the Paragon.
Matthew, despite fighting his opponent for close to 30 minutes, still looked squeaky clean. One might argue and say he was clean because he healed his injuries before coming out of the storm.
Maybe that was the case. However, aside from no injuries being on his skin, his armor was also clean, and his hair remained the same, not even a strand falling out of place.
That made no sense, but in a way, also made perfect sense.
Matthew had defeated his enemy with so much ease that it didn’t feel like he had been in a fight.
Naturally, that was terrifying, and even Klaus was taken aback… “Looks like he has become much more monstrous than he was back when we fought against the void beasts.”
He smiled, knowing that when he saw Axarax again, he would thank him for his sacrifice. After all, it was his energy he used to awaken this old friend of his and help restore his cultivation.
Matthew tossed the body into the undead space and moved aside.
Meanwhile, 30 light-years away, a spaceship came to a halt, and inside, close to 300 people stood watching the battle between the Paragon and the Nine Deadly Omens, every last one of them wearing a terrified look on their faces.
Suddenly, their leader’s communicator rang, and he answered.
The projection of the Celestial Supreme, Elorm, appeared on it…
“Are you there yet?” he asked, looking annoyed and also afraid.
The man who answered the call frowned and answered, “My lord, we have decided to turn down this mission. Find some others to help you. My team and I value our lives more than anything.”
He hung up the call and looked at the screen again, just when Akutaq had also finally decided to end his battle…
“What the hell?” His body trembled, his hands shaking like he had seen a ghost.
He never believed there was such a thing as fear until today…
