Chapter 1756: Three More to Go
Chapter 1756: Three More to Go
“Bastards…”
Elorm shouted, banging his fist on a table he was seated behind. The table shattered, and splinters flew all around.
His expression showed fury and anger, so untamed that if any poor soul were around, he would have unleashed that pent-up anger on them. Luckily, he was alone, and so the table took the blame.
A few weeks ago, when word reached him that the Paragon had arrived on the Ancient Battlefield and had gone after the Twin Dagger Fiend, he contacted a team of demons known as the 10th Demon Brigade to make sure he died no matter what.
Back then, these demons were so happy that they would get to kill the Paragon, who is a natural enemy of their demon race, while also getting paid.
And so, to Elorm, the Paragon was as good as dead.
If the Twin Dagger Fiend failed to kill him, his hired demon team would get the job done.
Fast forward, the day had come, and what he wanted to see and hear wasn’t what had happened.
The Paragon he wanted dead was not only still alive, but there were two of them, and he came with a team of monsters just like himself.
Aside from that, he had killed the Twin Dagger Fiend, and while it could be considered a bonus since the Nine Deadly Omens had come to kill the same targets, his team had chickened out.
While the team he had hired wasn’t as powerful as the Nine Deadly Omens, they had the element of surprise, and so he expected them to use the chaos to their advantage.
Unfortunately, the leader of this team wasn’t stupid at all.
He did the math and knew if they failed to use the element of surprise to kill all of them, what awaited them was death. Initially, even after doing the math, he wanted to go with the attack.
But that all changed when Kay sniped the target from 10km away, and then Asmodeus went ahead and turned the 8th and 9th Omens into his undead.
That was the turning point for them, and so they took it, and now, watching from 30 light-years away, they could only sigh in their hearts.
Then again, if only they had paid attention to the battle, they would have noticed that some people were missing.
Danny, Miguel, Kay and over 100 Celestial Undead were missing from the battlefield. The 100 Celestials were the ones Asmodeus used to clear the first battlefield, after killing the Twin Dagger Fiend.
They never returned to his side.
Aside from them, Nyrela and the ladies whom Klaus had sent to loot the shattered valley were also nowhere to be seen.
These signs were ones that this demon team, who thought 30 light-years was enough to hide from any scanning range, failed to notice, believing the distance would save them from Klaus.
For now, they were all oblivious to the fact that by coming here today, they had unknowingly offered themselves to be slaughtered.
By the time they realised, it would be too late.
But for now, they could only watch as Akutaq dragged his opponent from where he had sent him when they started their battle.
Just like Matthew, Akutaq, who was once known as the Blood Sabre Vampire, also faced off against a single opponent. However, unlike Matthew, who is also a Pseudo-Primordial, Akutaq is only a Celestial.
Despite that, Klaus knew the one who should be worried was his opponent. In fact, even if he paired him against two opponents, Akutaq would not be cornered.
That was how much faith Klaus had in him.
The Blood Sabre Vampire had long earned his respect with how selfless he was when it came to protecting those he deemed friends.
In battle, he bled the most not because he was weak, but because he always went out of his way to do more, so his teammates would not struggle.
So giving him a single Pseudo-Primordial was Klaus’s way of telling him he should relax for now and wait for when the odds stacked against them.
Thus, Akutaq made sure he took his opponent into his unique Blood Sage domain. What happened there remains a mystery, but from the injuries on his opponent, it was clear he had taken his time to torture him.
Yet again, another person ended his battle after taking his opponent into the void. Yaxche, who is Akutaq’s younger brother, is the second-most talented void user after Klaus.
Their team, which comprises Klaus, Akutaq, Matthew and himself, functioned simply because of Yaxche. He is the least talkative but also the most creative when it comes to killing.
Klaus had known him for a long time, but the number of times they had spoken could be counted. He doesn’t talk much, but if you give him a target, no matter how strong they are, he will kill them.
He mostly takes his battles into the void, and whenever he does that, you knows the one coming out dead is his opponent.
Today, just when the battle began, he took his opponent into the void, and just like his brother and Matthew, when they came out, his opponent was barely conscious.
He tossed the poor bastard into the Undead Space and then vanished into the void.
Nobody aside from Klaus knew where he had gone.
To be frank, Klaus would pick Yaxche over Matthew and Akutaq if he were in danger and needed saving. The bastard can stay in the void for years, not because he is training.
He simply wants to be alone and talk to no one.
That is some next-level kind of introverted behaviour.
But with him done with his battle, three battles remained. Two were being fought by Klaus, and one, perhaps the most brutal battle of them all, was also nearing its conclusion.
Daniel, with his body bloody and his left arm hanging limp, held his hammer with one hand, a twisted smile on his face as he looked back at their opponent.
Jason, also now having a large wound across his chest, pointed his spear at the Omen of Silence and smiled.
Finally, Kilian, standing with his left arm severed, held a calm expression, but among the three of them, his expression was the scariest of them all.
“Time for you to speak, Omen of Silence.”
His sword hummed, and the Dao of Damnation poured out.
