The human soldiers kept firing at the Barbarians without stopping, taking out more than two hundred of them before they closed the distance between them to fifty meters.
This is another big advantage of the puppets. Their movements were precise, and their synchronised eyesight cooperation enabled them to make the least amount of effort in order to kill as many enemies as possible.
Romethra was greatly angered when he saw how much damage the human archers were causing to his army. But that was just the start of his problems.
The archers suddenly stopped firing and unsheathed their swords and took a shield in another hand after placing their bows away.
Romethra had thought when the humans clashed with his men head-on, they would be pulverised by his men and it would be a massacre, but much to his shock, the human vanguard didn't break at contact. They instead stood their ground behind their shields and stopped the barbarians from progressing further.
The easy battle they were expecting never happened.
"Roarrrr!" "Awoooo!"
Romethra was once again dumbfounded when he heard the screams and shouting from the back. When he looked behind and he found a beast horde pouring out of the Caragan Forest and attacking his army from behind.
Before Romethra could react, the sounds of an unfamiliar bugle horn and increasingly loud pounding reached his ears.
More?
Romethra caught the sight of the human's lightly armoured cavaliers that were flanking his army from the side, and his expression darkened even further.
The formation of the human troops on the eastern side of the barbarian army was completely thrown into disarray by the 700 armoured cavaliers, and even though the outermost barbarians had adopted defensive measures against them, the cavaliers had simply built up too much momentum from galloping behind the small hill.
They were storming along like a force of nature, and there was no way that things like shields, clubs, and hammers could stop them, even if the warriors wielding them were extremely strong and tall Barbarians.
It was crazy, the barbarians were getting crushed by the humans.
Now they were surrounded from three sides.
Suddenly, a streak of lightning descended from the sky as bright as the sun. Romethra was again stunned.
The chief of the Anthral tribe and the Barbarians didn't understand what was happening.
Suddenly, the barbarians discovered that there was a huge beast that had stopped in the sky, and they let out a large cry of alarm. They knew that if someone could fly, they were a massive threat.
Even the humans were shocked at seeing the flying demon beast but seeing that it attacked the barbarians rather than them they cheered and continued attacking the barbarians.
"Th-thats a Rank 4 Demon Beast! How is that possible?" feeling the pressure from the Demon Beast Romethra immediately found how strong the Demon Beast was. It alone could destroy his whole army.
There was no way he could kill it, not with his current strength.
Another lighting strike descended from above, bombarding the ground asunder which killed another score of barbarians.
"Bastard!" the chief of the Anthral tribe cursed again, infuriated.
His contorted and enraged expression came into full view as he looked at the human standing on the flying beast.
The lightning strikes were devastating his barbarian army killing them like some chickens. Soon, he saw some of them running away from the battlefield. Some threw their weapons, intending to surrender to the humans.
"No, I can't let that happen. I can't lose here not to humans." Romethra roared in anger.
Seeing no way out of this, Romethra took something out of his pocket. It was a small black horn of an unknown beast. Romethra immediately blew it as hard as he could. But no sound came out of it.
Alex who was keeping an eye on Romethra found something off about the horn. It gave him a bad feeling. Before he could intervene, Romethra blew the horn but it didn't ring a sound as he had thought it would.
No! it wasn't meant to make a sound. The horn sent a blast of a spiritual energy wave into the surrounding.
'He is calling someone. But who?' Alex found out that the horn was meant to send a signal to someone.
"Kill him" Alex ordered his companion. He couldn't take any chances now.
The Black lightning eagle screeched eagerly and sent a powerful lightning bolt as thick as a barbarian, this time it was aimed towards the Chief rather than bombarding it haphazardly on the battlefield.
"Curse you, human!!!" Romethra shouted as he tried to dodge the lightning strike.
Unfortunately, he couldn't make it in time and was struck by the lightning bolt on his arm which rendered his body paralysed for a second. Romethra greeted his teeth in pain. The lightning bolt had burnt half of his arm.
His barbarian physique helped in protecting himself against the strike of the Rank 4 Demon beast. But he didn't come out of it scratch free. He had lost an arm and his body was badly hurt.
Alex was badly startled when he felt that malicious aura locking him in place.
He turned his eye in the direction of the Caragan forest and saw something flying in his direction at great speed.
"Stay your hand, young man!" an eery voice rang on the battlefield causing everyone to look up again.
Now there was another beast flying above them and it too had a person riding on its back.
As he spoke, black streaks of fire began to surge into the sky above him, greeting the descending lightning.
