As Romethra consumed the black pill, an ominous transformation began to take hold. Dark energy surged through his veins, intertwining with his barbarian essence and corrupting it. The raw power within him stirred, twisting and distorting his physical form into something otherworldly.
His muscles expanded, swelling with unholy strength. His skin turned ashen, taking on a sickly pallor that spoke of the taint spreading within him. Jagged, obsidian-like spikes erupted from his shoulders and spine, reminiscent of a fearsome demon's wings. His eyes glowed with an unnatural, malevolent light, their vibrant color replaced by an eerie, soulless glow.
A twisted grin contorted his once noble features, revealing rows of razor-sharp teeth. His hands, now transformed into clawed appendages, exuded an aura of darkness and malice. The very air around him seemed to thicken with an aura of malevolence and chaos as he fully embraced his demonic nature.
Romethra's transformation into this demonic barbarian form left the onlookers spellbound, their eyes widened in a mix of terror and disbelief. The sheer monstrosity of his appearance struck fear into their hearts, as they witnessed the corruption that had consumed their once-esteemed leader.
Gasps of horror and whispers of despair spread through the crowd, each spectator grappling with their own emotions in the face of this grotesque metamorphosis. Some trembled in fear, unable to tear their gaze away from the sight of this unholy being. Others felt a pang of sorrow and betrayal, mourning the loss of their beloved chief to the darkness.
The elders, in particular, stood in stunned silence, their aged faces etched with a mix of anguish and resolve. They had witnessed Romethra's descent into darkness, and now the consequences of his choices stared them in the face. The very fabric of their tribe seemed at stake, torn between loyalty and self-preservation.
Whispers floated among the elders, their voices tinged with sadness and determination. They huddled together, their weathered brows furrowed, as they exchanged words of concern and urgency. The threat of the contract they made to the 'shaman' does not matter to them anymore now that they know about the shaman's real identity.
As Romethra's transformation into a demonic form enveloped in dark energy stunned the spectators, gasps and murmurs filled the air. The onlookers, both from the human army and the fleeing barbarians, were taken aback by the sight before them. The sheer magnitude of Romethra's newfound power sent shivers down their spines.
Danny, still atop his lightning eagle, turned his gaze towards Romethra. His eyes widened in both surprise and concern as he sensed the surge of dark aura emanating from the barbarian chief. He could feel the intensity of the power coursing through Romethra's transformed body, and it was unlike anything he had ever encountered.
Among the barbarians, the elders gathered , their faces etched with worry and disbelief. They had followed Romethra for years, trusting in his leadership and strength. But now, witnessing his dark transformation, doubt crept into their hearts.
"What in the name of the spirits is happening?" muttered one of the elders, his voice laced with fear and uncertainty.
"I never thought I'd see the day when Romethra would stoop so low," replied another elder, shaking his head in dismay. "He's traded his humanity for power. How could he betray our people like this?"
"He's become a slave to his own ambition," spoke a third elder, his voice filled with regret. "We must distance ourselves from him, for our own survival."
The elders exchanged solemn looks, their minds racing with thoughts of the consequences and the future of their tribe. They knew that staying with Romethra now meant certain destruction, not only at the hands of the human army but also from the revenge-seeking old man riding the three-eyed crow.
"We need to escape while they are distracted," suggested one elder, his eyes scanning the battlefield for an opportunity. "We must find refuge with another tribe, far from the reach of Romethra and his dark pact."
"Agreed," nodded another elder. "We can't risk returning to our own tribe and becoming entangled in Romethra's treachery. Our people deserve better."
As the elders made their decision, they also realized the importance of informing their spiritual leader, the Ullesis, about Romethra's betrayal. The Ullesis was a wise and revered figure among their people, someone who had guided them through countless trials and tribulations.
They understood that the Ullesis needed to be aware of the situation and would offer guidance on their next course of action.
"We must send word to the Ullesis," spoke the eldest among the group, his voice filled with determination. "He needs to know what has befallen our tribe and the choices we've made. Only then can we seek his counsel and find a new path for our people."
"But, bloody hell, we can't go ourselves, can we? We're stuck with the damn contract, and if we even try to make a run for it, that shaman will surely gut us like fish with that blasted connection of his!" another elder exclaimed, frustration evident in his voice and a touch of desperation in his tone.
"Damn it all! I curse the day we ever voted for Romethra to be our chief. Regret doesn't even begin to cover it. We're stuck here. Our only hope is if that human lad somehow manages to take down both the old geezer and Romethra. Only then, just maybe, we'll be free from this cursed contract," the elder grumbled, his voice laced with remorse and a flicker of desperate optimism.
"So here's the plan: we'll gather the others and tell them to make a run for it while we stay here," the elder suggested, his voice filled with determination. "We'll sacrifice ourselves if we have to, but our priority is to ensure the safety of our brethren. We'll buy them time to escape and find shelter with another tribe, far away from the clutches of Romethra and that blasted shaman.
We owe it to our people to make this sacrifice and ensure their survival. Hopefully, the humans and the demon beast won't keep our men from fleeing."
The other elders nodded in agreement, their expressions resolute. They were ready to face the uncertainty ahead and protect their tribe from the fallout of Romethra's actions.
Without wanting to alert Romethra, they quickly passed on their instructions to their trusted subordinates.
