Chapter 385: Dark Fire vs Lightning! - Part 1

Mary's gaze shifted between Pero and the tumultuous battleground, her eyes reflecting a blend of trepidation and unwavering determination. The weight of the decision settled heavily upon her shoulders, intertwining with her burning desire to assist her friend in reclaiming what was rightfully hers.

It was not only an opportunity for revenge against those who had decimated their cherished sect but also a chance to restore justice and honor.

As Pero's unwavering loyalty resonated within her, Mary felt a surge of resolve coursing through her veins. If Pero could willingly offer his life for his King, she too could muster the courage to undertake this dangerous mission for the sake of her friend. It was a chance to demonstrate her own unwavering commitment and loyalty, standing shoulder-to-shoulder with Pero in the face of adversity.

Their gazes met, and at that moment, their eyes mirrored a shared understanding, a silent agreement to face the ultimate test of their commitment and bravery. United by their common cause, they knew that the path ahead would be arduous and fraught with peril.

"Alright, I will do it. But you need to immobilize him for just a few seconds and give me a clear window to deal out my strongest attack. We only have one chance; if we fail, it will be over," Mary declared, her voice resolute with a hint of urgency.

Pero nodded, fully comprehending the gravity of the situation. "Leave that task to me and my soldiers. We promise to provide you with that opportune moment," he affirmed, his commitment shining through his words. With a swift motion, he retrieved a peculiar item from his pocket and extended it toward the pirate captain.

Curiosity mingled with surprise as Mary accepted the strange, round orangish jelly into her hand. Before she could utter a question, the jelly came alive, moving and enveloping her entire body from head to toe. A startled cry escaped her lips as she felt its presence engulfing her.

"Don't worry, Miss Mary. It's something like a protective armament," Pero explained, seeking to allay her concerns. "It will not only conceal your Qi and presence from Romethra but also provide you with additional protection in case things don't go according to plan. It is very precious to King Danny."

"While dealing with the Devil Cultivator, the King transferred it to the commander using a secret method," Pero elaborated, anticipating Mary's question. "He also conveyed the plan using the same method and instructed us to deliver it to you, as you have the greatest chance of succeeding."

Though initially taken aback, Mary gradually regained her composure, realizing the invaluable advantage the jelly bestowed upon her if it did hide her presence. It was a shield that would shroud her intentions, rendering her movements and intentions elusive to Romethra's perception.

She felt a surge of gratitude towards Pero and Danny for his thoughtful gesture, understanding that this unexpected gift could make all the difference in their daring mission.

Mary tightened her grip on her sword, her mind focused on the imminent confrontation. Clad in the protective jelly that didn't hinder her breathing or her movements, she felt an indomitable spirit welling up within her. She was ready to face the challenges ahead, relying on her skill, Pero's support, and the element of surprise to achieve their shared objective.

The stage was set, and the moment of truth approached.

. . .

Just as Romethra had finished his transformation, the battle between the Devil cultivator and Danny also broke out.

His primary objective was twofold: to distance the fight from the main battle, ensure the safety of innocent bystanders, and exploit the Devil Cultivator's reliance on dark arts.

"Aquilla," Danny commanded through their mental connection with the black-feathered Lightning Eagle, "fly higher and head towards the forest. We need to get this old man away from this battlefield."

Understanding the urgency in Danny's voice, Aquilla spread its majestic wings and soared higher into the sky. The powerful beats of its wings propelled them swiftly and away from the three-eyed dark Crow, ascending toward the sanctuary of the dense forest.

Danny clung onto Aquilla's back, his grip firm and resolute. With every beat of Aquilla's wings, they distanced themselves further from the tumultuous battleground. Danny's priority was to ensure the safety of his people, shielding them from the danger and destruction that loomed amidst the clash of dark arts and lightning-infused attacks.

"Your dark arts won't work on me!" Danny shouted defiantly, dodging the Crow's retaliatory blasts of dark fire. The Lightning Eagle expertly weaved through the forest canopy, using the trees as shields against the onslaught of malevolent flames.

The Crow's frustration grew evident as Danny's lightning disrupted its dark Qi, causing its attacks to falter. "Cawwww!" the Crow screeched, its third eye narrowing in anger.

Aquilla's movements became more fluid and precise as Danny assessed the Crow's patterns and controlled his companion's overall movements. He anticipated its attacks, and Aqilla swiftly evaded them with nimble wings and lightning-fast reflexes. On the other hand, Danny generated lightning balls in his hands and threw them in the Crow's path to some difficulty for the bird in chasing them.

But the devil cultivator had it enough and immediately sent some of his dark Qi into the Crow's body.

The sky darkened as the Dark Crow once again empowered by the Dark Qi, unleashed its sinister power, leaving behind a trail of black fire that devoured everything in its path. The flames danced with a terrifying aura, radiating malevolence and despair. The once peaceful forest now trembled under the weight of its ominous presence.

The crow's speed increased by a large margin and it was almost like it teleported to arrive just behind the lightning eagle.

"No more evading. Behold, the Soulbound Chains!" bellowed the Devil Cultivator, his hands raised high in a commanding gesture. In an instant, a swarm of black, spiky chains cloaked in dark fire erupted from his palm, lashing out with malevolent intent.

In a blur of motion, Danny vanished from his perch atop the majestic Lightning Eagle, leaving the Devil Cultivator's chains grasping at empty air, their desperate attempts to capture their elusive prey in vain.

The old man's eyes bulged in disbelief, his voice choked with surprise as he struggled to comprehend the sudden disappearance.

"What? Where did he-!"

Without warning, Danny materialized with supernatural speed, hurtling through the air toward the Devil Cultivator. With a resounding impact that resonated through the sky, his fist collided with the old man's body, sending him hurtling backward with an explosive force. The resulting crack reverberated across the forest, a testament to the sheer might of Danny's lightning-infused strike.
