Chapter 1239: HAPPY LUO BROTHERS
Chapter 1239: HAPPY LUO BROTHERS
WITH public opinion now swinging in their favor, Luo Yan dug into his meal at his father's chosen restaurant with full enthusiasm. The place was excellent—great atmosphere, even better food. His only gripe was that manager who kept popping up every five minutes to ask if they needed anything.
That would have been fine if she'd just done her job. But she kept subtly flirting with every guy at the table. First, it was his father who completely ignored her. Either she didn't notice or chose not to care, because she only backed off after receiving his death glare. Undeterred, she immediately shifted her attention to Bai Ze next.
Bai Ze clearly didn't like the attention, but unlike Luo Yan's father, he couldn't be outright rude. Instead, he kept pretending to be engrossed in conversation with Shen Ji Yun every time the manager approached him. When she gave up on Bai Ze and turned to Luo Jin, Su Yuqi smoothly cut in by casually asking when his 18th birthday was. That quickly made the manager back off.
Now the only ones left were him and Shen Ji Yun. Luo Yan had a strong suspicion the manager wouldn't approach him. He was too pretty. Women like her usually avoided men who could outshine them in the looks department. That meant Shen Ji Yun would be her next target.
Luo Yan nearly scoffed. Like hell he'd let that happen.
Before Luo Yan could intervene, heck, before the manager could even take a step toward their table, Shen Ji Yun turned his head just slightly, his gaze sliding over her like a shadow passing across glass. Not dismissive, not hostile. Just utterly indifferent.
Then he reached for his tea, and took a slow, deliberate sip. His eyes never left hers, but it still felt like he was not seeing her. Like she was just a part of the restaurant's wallpaper and not a person.
A beat. Then two. The manager's smile stiffened. Then, without a word, she smoothed her skirt and walked away.
Luo Yan nearly choked on his rice. Wow. That was cold. Shen Ji Yun didn't even blink.
He glanced around and realized no one else had noticed what just happened. Of course, it made sense. Neither of them had said a word, and the others at the table were too busy with their own conversations or food to pay attention. So it was just him who caught that silent exchange.
He opened his phone and quietly sent Shen Ji Yun a message.
[yanyan1213]: Good job. ;) <3
Shen Ji Yun glanced down at his phone like he was just checking the time. But Luo Yan knew the exact moment the other read the message he sent. That tiny, almost invisible lift at the corner of his mouth gave it away.
[luckycloud]: I'm a man in a serious relationship. I can't give my boyfriend any reason to be jealous.
Now it was Luo Yan's turn to smile. Publication courtesy of *.
[yanyan1213]: Lucky boyfriend.
"By the way, when do you plan to go back to B City?"
His father's question interrupted their message exchange. Shen Ji Yun turned to face him. His expression stayed blank, giving no hint that he had just been secretly texting with Luo Yan.
"We plan to go back early tomorrow morning," Shen Ji Yun replied.
Luo Yan frowned a bit, but not as much as the frown on Luo Jin's face.
"Did you bring your VR helmets?" Luo Yan asked. "If you did, then you can stay until the day after tomorrow instead."
Tomorrow was the last day of the Arcadia Cup. Since all the fighting was over, tomorrow would only be the closing ceremony where all the teams who participated in the Cup were invited. Because their team was the champion, they had to attend. That's why he asked if they brought their VR helmets. If they did, then it would be fine for them to stay longer. But if they didn't, they would have no choice but to leave early tomorrow morning.
"Yeah. Why not stay longer?" Luo Jin agreed. "I mean, since it's summer vacation, you don't have to rush back. Just stay at our house. I'm sure Dad won't mind."
Luo Wei Tian raised his brow at his youngest son's obvious attempt to make Su Yuqi stay longer. But being a good father, he didn't call Luo Jin out and simply said,
"Yes, you're welcome to stay as long as you want."
"I have my VR helmet," Bai Ze said. "I don't mind staying."
Shen Ji Yun nodded. "The same for me."
Luo Jin looked at Su Yuqi with bright eyes, like he was silently begging 'Please, say yes'. Su Yuqi couldn't help but chuckle at that.
"I did bring my VR helmet," she said. "But it might be a little awkward if I stay, don't you think?"
"If you're worried about being the only woman in the house, maybe Jiao Jiao could stay, too?" Luo Wei Tian said, then turned to Yu Jiao. "What do you think, Jiao Jiao? You know you're always welcome at our home."
Luo Yan looked at his father meaningfully. It seemed the other was truly taking this matchmaking thing seriously. He glanced at Luo Ren next. Based on the way he was looking at Yu Jiao, he clearly liked the idea of her staying, too.
Yu Jiao looked unsure. Before she could respond, Su Yuqi spoke up:
"You can say no. I just mentioned it might feel a little awkward, but I'll survive."
Yu Jiao turned to Su Yuqi. What the other girl said seemed to clear away her hesitation. "No, I'll ask Mom. If she agrees, then I'll stay too."
Luo Ren's usual stern look softened slightly, his gaze drifting toward Yu Jiao before he caught himself. Across from him, Luo Jin failed to hide his grin, his fingers tapping excitedly against the table. Neither said anything, but their pleased expressions made it clear that they were both happy with how things turned out.
Luo Yan shook his head. He really couldn't blame them. His eyes shifted to Shen Ji Yun. Because just like them, he was feeling pretty happy about this as well.
