The Return Of The God Level Assassin

Chapter 1244: FINAL PARTY (II)

Chapter 1244: FINAL PARTY (II)

LUO YAN glanced back at the king and couldn't help but agree with his cousin. "Yeah. It's sweet, though."

And it really was. Shen Ji Yun had shared bits of Uncle Yi Mu and Uncle Yue's love story with him. How they'd been together, how Uncle Yue had suddenly broken things off and vanished. They were back together now, but during all those years apart, Uncle Yi Mu must have missed him so badly that he created this NPC. Just so he could still feel like Uncle Yue was with him in some way.

That was next-level pining. Uncle Yi Mu never really moved on, and he didn't even try. If he had, he wouldn't have modeled Arcadia's most important character after his ex-lover. And honestly? It was kind of romantic.

But Luo Yan didn't want that kind of romance. That's why he made Shen Ji Yun promise they would always talk through their problems first, whether it was something small or a big fight. Their first move should never be avoiding each other, but sitting down to figure things out. He wasn't about to let their relationship fall apart over some avoidable misunderstanding.

No offense to Uncle Yi Mu and Uncle Yue, of course. Back then, Uncle Yue probably felt like he was backed into a corner with no other options. And honestly, Luo Yan understood why he did what he did. He thought he was going to die, and he just didn't want the person he loved to witness him wither away. So, he left. Hoping that Uncle Yi Mu would forget him, and moved on with his life. He probably didn't expect that the other would not even try to do either.

Luo Yan was just glad that the two still had their happy ending.

After the king's speech, he left, and the party officially began. Music swelled through the ballroom as the uniformed NPC staff circulated with trays of food and drinks. Players from different teams started mingling, some already pairing up to dance across the floor.

Luo Yan could feel multiple eyes on their team. Some glances held curiosity, like they wanted to come over and talk to them. While others carried clear judgment, probably still stuck on the news about Shen Ji Yun being the Moonlight Media CEO's nephew. Luo Yan mentally rolled his eyes. Let them stare. It wouldn't erase the fact that team Yunyue had won fair and square.

"Want to dance?" Su Yuqi suddenly asked Luo Jin.

Luo Jin's eyes widened. But before he could answer, Eclipse blurted out:

"Me! Me! I want to dance!" The teenage kitsune jumped up and down, then turned to Luo Yan. "Master, let's dance!"

Just like Luo Jin, Luo Yan didn't get a chance to react before Eclipse yanked him onto the dance floor. By the time he processed what was happening, the teenager had already spun him around, making Luo Yan laugh despite himself.

Eclipse kept hold of his hands, grinning as he guided Luo Yan into the rhythm. They moved together, well, as much as anyone could "move together" with Eclipse's idea of dancing, which involved a lot of unnecessary twirls and near-collisions with other people. Luo Yan just went with it, his earlier laughter bubbling up again when the kitsune nearly tripped over his own tails.

Shen Ji Yun watched the two with a twinge of frustration as Eclipse claimed the dance he'd been too slow to ask for himself. He sighed. He would definitely ask next.

Dusk, clearly bored by the party, grabbed a drink from a passing server and headed for the balcony to escape the crowd. Rowan, being Rowan, followed right behind. Though not after snagging two plates piled high with food first. He complained loudly about how they shouldn't have bothered coming to such a dull event just to mingle with "lesser beings." As usual, Dusk ignored every word.

Bai Ze shook his head. One of these days, Rowan would definitely get his scaly ass killed.

Luo Jin turned to Su Yuqi, his expression caught between shyness and embarrassment. "Can we still dance?"

Su Yuqi didn't bother responding. She just flashed him a grin, grabbed his wrist, and pulled him straight onto the dance floor.

Bai Ze sighed as he watched them. Those two had clearly been heading the romantic route for a while now. At this rate, they'd probably start dating soon. The mere thought of his cousin and Su Yuqi as an actual couple gave him bad goosebumps.

He took two drinks from a passing NPC and passed one to Shen Ji Yun. Maybe he should be glad Eclipse pulled Luo Yan to dance before Shen Ji Yun could. With Luo Jin and Su Yuqi dancing together, if Shen Ji Yun and Luo Yan had joined them too, he would have been left standing there with Eclipse. Which would only make him look like a single dog. It might be true, yes, but he didn't need everyone to know it.

As he was drinking, a lightbulb suddenly turned in his head. Wait- why was there a need for him to look like a single dog? He could ask someone to dance too!

At that thought, his eyes immediately went to the area where team Siren was. Xia Li should be there, right? Because of the finals, he hadn't seen Xia Li in the game for the past four days. The two of them had been meeting more frequently since the after party of the Rookie Carnival. Usually he would help her grind, in other times, they would simply eat at some restaurant or cafe.

Bai Ze still wasn't entirely sure about his feelings for her. Or maybe he just didn't know how serious they were. He definitely liked Xia Li. That much was clear. But the depth of that feeling? He honestly didn't know. That's what kept him from pursuing her properly. It wouldn't be fair to her if he pursued her when he couldn't even understand his own emotions. She deserved more than that.

Yet somehow, he couldn't bring himself to stop seeing her.

He downed the rest of his champagne in one go, then made his way toward the direction where team Siren was.
