Chapter 1253: IN THE HIDDEN ALCOVE

LUO YAN led Shen Ji Yun to a narrow space tucked between two tall shelves at the very back of the floor. It was almost hidden from view unless you knew where to look.

A low wooden bench sat beneath the window, just wide enough for two people to sit side by side. The window itself was small, but it offered a quiet view of the trees outside. This was the spot where he had spent countless hours studying, unseen and undisturbed.

This was the place he always came to when he was a student and wanted to be alone. There were so many times he would just sit right here with his headphones on, studying for hours without anyone bothering him. Just seeing this spot again made him feel more nostalgic than ever.

He really had not expected this spot to still be here. With all the clear changes and updates to the library, he had assumed it would be long gone. But it was still here, exactly as he remembered. And he felt so relieved that it was. Because what he planned to do next would not have been possible without this quiet, hidden place.

"Yan Yan, why did you bring us here?" Shen Ji Yun asked, his voice a mix of confusion and curiosity.

Luo Yan did not answer. He just smiled and gently pulled Shen Ji Yun with him into the hidden alcove.

"This is my small way of saying sorry for not being able to say yes when you asked me to live with you."

Then, without waiting for a reply, he rose onto his toes and pressed his lips gently against Shen Ji Yun's.

Shen Ji Yun's eyes widened in surprise at the sudden soft press of Luo Yan's lips against his. For a moment, he stood frozen, his mind blank with shock.

The warmth of the kiss was gentle but firm, and it sent a ripple of electricity straight through him. He could feel the slight tremor in Luo Yan's hands where they rested against his chest, and the faint, familiar scent of Luo Yan filled his senses. His heart hammered wildly in his chest, beating so loudly he was sure the entire floor could hear it.

But the surprise melted away almost as quickly as it had come. Shen Ji Yun's eyelids fluttered shut, and he let himself sink into the kiss. He brought his hands up to cradle Luo Yan's face, his touch tender but certain.

He tilted his head slightly, deepening the connection between them. Luo Yan's lips were soft and warm, moving against his with a shy confidence that made Shen Ji Yun's stomach flutter.

He kissed back without hesitation, pouring all the affection and longing he felt into that single moment. The world outside the alcove seemed to fade away, leaving just the two of them wrapped in quiet intimacy.

He could feel Luo Yan relax against him, a soft sigh escaping between them. Shen Ji Yun didn't pull away. Instead, he held him closer, one hand sliding to the small of Luo Yan's back to steady them both.

The kiss was slow and deep, full of unspoken promises and the kind of warmth that spread all the way to his fingertips.

When they finally parted, both were breathless, foreheads resting together as they lingered in the quiet bubble they'd created.

Shen Ji Yun's earlier disappointment was completely forgotten, replaced by a swelling happiness that left him smiling without even realizing it.

"That was..." Shen Ji Yun began, his voice soft and a little unsteady. "Amazing."

Luo Yan smiled, his eyes warm and full of affection. "It's always amazing with you."

They held each other's gaze, the air between them thick with unspoken feeling. Without a word, they leaned in at the same time, closing the small distance that remained between them. Their lips met again, this kiss deeper than the first.

After activating his student ID card, Luo Yan and Shen Ji Yun walked to the campus bookstore to pick up his textbooks.

According to his schedule, he would need to go to the university hospital for a medical checkup tomorrow. The day after that was the freshman orientation. Then, starting next Monday, military training would begin.

Since there wasn't much else to do between those events, Luo Yan agreed to spend his free days with Shen Ji Yun.

A bright, genuine smile spread across Shen Ji Yun's face the moment Luo Yan agreed. His eyes lit up with pure happiness, and he couldn't seem to stop himself from reaching out to gently squeeze Luo Yan's hand. He looked so openly pleased that it was almost boyish. Luo Yan almost kissed him again right there and then.

After picking up his textbooks, Shen Ji Yun walked Luo Yan back to his dorm. Luo Yan knew it wasn't just to see the room where he'd be staying for the next month. Shen Ji Yun also wanted to meet his new roommate, especially after hearing that Luo Yan planned to have dinner with Zhen Yihan. Almost before Luo Yan had finished speaking, Shen Ji Yun immediately said he would be joining them too.

So now they stood together inside his dorm room.

Shen Ji Yun looked around the room and gave a small nod of approval. He felt grateful that Uncle Tian had managed to arrange a two-person dorm for Luo Yan instead of a four-person one. He still remembered his own freshman year in a crowded four-person room, where space was tight and privacy was rare. The thought made him feel slightly less annoyed that Luo Yan would be sharing a room with someone else.

While he was lost in thought, Luo Yan suddenly tugged his hand and pulled him down to sit together on the edge of the bed.

Luo Yan looked up at Shen Ji Yun, a soft expression in his eyes. His voice was warm and a little tentative as he spoke. "So, Brother Ji Yun... I was thinking, maybe I could stay at your place from Thursday to Saturday? What do you think?"
