Chapter 1363: LUO YAN'S GIFT

Chapter 1363: LUO YAN’S GIFT

THEY sat by the window and watched the last traces of daylight disappear beyond the glass. The restaurant was small and intimate with hanging lanterns throwing a soft light over the dark wood interior.

The food arrived gradually. First came the chilled sliced beef glistening with chili oil, followed by a steaming bowl of fish soup with pickled greens. A clay pot of braised pork belly was set between them next, along with a plate of stir-fried greens.

Luo Yan picked up a slice of pork belly with his chopsticks and held it toward Shen Ji Yun. “Try this.”

Shen Ji Yun leaned in and accepted the bite. After chewing for a moment, he nodded. “It’s good.”

Luo Yan smiled. “I knew you’d like it.”

Reaching across the table, Shen Ji Yun picked up a slice of the chilled beef and held it out instead. “Then this one’s for you.”

Luo Yan opened his mouth without hesitation. The beef was cool against his tongue, followed by the gentle heat of the chili oil. He gave an approving hum.

They ended up sharing nearly every dish that way, each offering the other a bite whenever something stood out. Between mouthfuls they talked about the day’s tour, and sometimes fell into comfortable silence. It was a peaceful and joyful dinner for both of them.

After dinner, they decided to walk for a few minutes to help digestion. Hand in hand, they walked out of Cai Lin Xuan.

Luo Yan tilted his head back, looking up at the night sky. Stars scattered across it, and the full moon sat bright overhead, casting a pale glow over the path ahead.

“The moon is really bright tonight,” Luo Yan said as they walked, his head leaning on Shen Ji Yun’s shoulder.

Shen Ji Yun looked down at him, then up at the night sky. “Yeah. It’s a good view.”

He looked at Luo Yan again. The moon was beautiful, but he would rather spend the whole night looking at Luo Yan instead. A part of him wondered when the other would give him his birthday gift. He had enjoyed everything they did today, but there was still something missing. He shook his head at himself. Now he sounded like an ungrateful boyfriend who didn’t appreciate what Luo Yan had planned and was still asking for more.

“What’s wrong?” Luo Yan asked, lifting his head from Shen Ji Yun’s shoulder. “Your brows just furrowed.”

Shen Ji Yun blinked, a little surprised. He hadn’t realized his expression had changed. “If I tell you, you might think I’m annoying.”

Luo Yan raised an eyebrow in amusement. “Brother Ji Yun, even if I find what you would say annoying, that’s not going to make me love you any less. So just tell me.”

Shen Ji Yun sighed softly. “I was just thinking that the day is almost over, and I still haven’t received my birthday gift from you.” He glanced at Luo Yan, a little embarrassed. “See? I told you it was annoying.”

Luo Yan paused and looked at him, then let out a soft laugh. He couldn’t help but smile at the blush that was creeping up Shen Ji Yun’s cheeks, obviously embarrassed by the confession. “Oh, Brother Ji Yun. There’s nothing to be ashamed of. Your feelings aren’t annoying. It’s only natural.” He placed his hand gently against Shen Ji Yun’s cheek. “Don’t worry. I do have a gift for you. We just need to get back to the villa first.”

Shen Ji Yun leaned into Luo Yan’s palm. “Sorry if I’m acting like a child.”

“No, you’re not,” Luo Yan said, pressing a quick kiss to the tip of Shen Ji Yun’s nose. “You’re just being your usual adorable self. Come on, let’s head back to the villa so you can finally open your gift.”

***

Shen Ji Yun shifted on the couch. They had been back at the villa for about ten minutes now. Luo Yan had told him to wait outside the room for fifteen minutes before coming in, then disappeared inside and hadn’t come out since. He had been sitting in the living room, watching the timer on his phone. Yes, he was counting down the minutes, making sure he would enter the room right on time.

As he waited, excitement and curiosity churned in his chest. He was excited to see what Luo Yan had prepared for him, but he was also curious why he had to wait fifteen minutes like this. What kind of gift needed that much time to set up?

He kept glancing at the door, then back at his phone. The minutes felt longer than they should have. He wondered if Luo Yan was setting something up inside, or if he was just taking his time to build the suspense. Either way, Shen Ji Yun found himself leaning forward on the couch, his foot tapping lightly against the floor.

When the timer finally reached zero, he stood up.

He walked toward the door, his heartbeat picking up with each step. He reached for the doorknob and took a breath before turning it. The moment he stepped inside, his heart leaped into his throat, pounding so hard he could feel it in his ears, threatening to burst from his chest.

The room was dim, lit only by a few soft lights near the bed. But it was enough to see clearly. On the side table, a small basket sat with a bottle that looked suspiciously like lube and a few packets of condoms. Shen Ji Yun’s eyes flicked to the bed, and that was when his breath caught.

Luo Yan was sitting in the center of the bed. If that was all, Shen Ji Yun’s heart wouldn’t be pounding like this. But Luo Yan was practically naked, a long red ribbon wrapped around his body and tied into a perfect bow at his neck. The rest of the ribbon wound down his chest and around his waist, the ends resting against his thighs.

Shen Ji Yun’s mouth went dry. He couldn’t move. He couldn’t speak. He just stood there, staring.

Luo Yan gave him a slow, inviting smile. “Come and open your gift, Ji Yun.”
