Chapter 2938: The Last of the Worries
Chapter 2938: The Last of the Worries
After some time traveling at high speed, Minos arrived in the vicinity where his creation was keeping an eye on the position of a Devil. Even from a distance, he saw through space, locating the bestial creature in the depths of a canyon, surrounded by bodies and blood.
Surrounding the Devil were several colored flames, with black chains connecting various points in the area. He seemed to be in the middle of some kind of macabre ritual, his Reincarnation Wheel spinning as his power pressed against the surroundings, as if it were the gravity of his domain.
The surrounding light seemed to lose its strength or even recede in his presence, turning the site darker and more negative.
Minos' creation wasn't the only one observing this place at the moment, apart from him. Several beings of a high level by local standards were scattered around the edge of the creature's domain. Minos didn't focus on them, but counted over 10 Celestials near the area.
'I don't know him... He must be one of the Devils who ascended after the war began.'
Minos considered as he slowed down, feeling the vibrations coming from the level 128 enemy's ritual zone.
Unlike him, who had to control himself in this place, the Devil was freely exercising all the power of his soul while performing that mysterious ritual.
'It's a pity I don't have time to interrogate you. Otherwise, I'd try to find out what this is all about.'
Minos stopped in mid-air, looking down vertically above where the dark dragon-shaped creature was concentrating on his ritual. Closing his eyes for a second, Minos brought his hands together, allowing his divine powers to course through his veins, muscles and nerves, directing them to the tip of one of his fingers.
His six seraphim wings opened and with them, golden lightning descended from the sky, illuminating the entire darkened region.
For just an instant, those present saw a giant golden figure flash across the sky, casting the opposite of a shadow over the canyon.
Minos then pointed one of his fingers downwards, letting his powers follow their destiny towards the creature unaware of his plans.
With a smile on his face, Minos watched the air below him melt. A beam of light so bright and strong, capable of blinding low-level Celestials, passed at lightning speed against the creature vertically below.
A column of light descended from the heavens, briefly illuminating the entire planet, before hitting the creature from Hell hard in the middle of his ritual.
The Devil noticed the enemy attack a second before being hit, but was unable to do anything about. In the middle of a ritual and being attacked almost point-blank by someone who had slipped unnoticed into his vicinity, he could barely express his shock before he was hit hard by the light.
The only thing on his mind was how a being of light had come so close to him without attracting his attention and how a creature limited by reality had gathered so much power so instantly. He could only try to defend himself with his own body while having his existence incinerated by the flaming pillar of light from the mysterious Deity that attacked him.
Minos let his attack completely consume the level 128 Devil's body, feeling the advantage of having once been a Devil. Another in his situation would have been noticed from afar, but given the darkness that still existed in his essence, he was practically invisible to the enemy.
But not everything turned out as he had planned. Looking at the surroundings of this world while the enemy had his soul burned, Vicente felt the laws moving away from him.
'Looks like I'll be forced to return to the realm before I go to the other Devil... That's fine. I've already got a throne, anyway.'
He stretched out one of his arms and clenched his fist, ending the golden pillar of flame and light and then drawing something towards him.
Something flew at high speed from where the Devil had been a moment ago, where now the whole surrounding region of this canyon was in flames, filled with ashes, with no more signs of the Devil's ritual altar.
Minos looked at the Infernal Crown that had come into his hands and remembered the absorbable weapon that had once been part of him. Now, however, that weapon was merely the core of what he was about to create.
As he squeezed hard on that Absolute artifact, he raised his cultivation to its maximum, breaking through space-time while creating cracks along the entire length of the crown.
Minos' creation appeared behind him while the natives of that world watched from afar, even more horrified to feel his aura than they were moments ago.
For an instant they had a glimpse of what Minos was doing, with the end of the crown of darkness and the formation of a small throne of light that erased from this world all the impurities behind the demonic ritual of a moment ago.
Minos saw the birth of light from something made of darkness and couldn't help but look at the item in his hands curiously.
He let himself be carried away by the spatial distortion into the Upper Realm, focused only on the new singularity in his hands.
'It's interesting how the crown gave birth to a throne... In an existence where Devils are tasked with hunting and Deities are fugitives, light is born from darkness. Is the death of the dark hunter the beginning of the fugitive made of light?' He thought curiously, feeling the common notions of his plane of origin shatter like pieces of a puzzle.
In the midst of his thoughts about how unusual it was for light to come from darkness, his soul grew in power as his surroundings materialized somewhere in the underwater dimension, his new home.
His own throne formed on his back, as he felt a new domain emerge in his territories.
The throne said in his mind, 'From now on, your inheritances will be activated. It may take some time, but eventually candidates to inherit your new throne will emerge, master.'
Minos had done the task of spreading out some inheritance sites on different planes, but he still had to find something to give to his future heir. Now that he had conquered it, he could begin his selection process!
But although he had listened to the throne and was pleased to hear that his plans could begin to develop, Minos had something else in mind.
'Devils don't gain much from the death of Deities. What would happen if Hell won a war against the Upper Realm?'
The throne answered with certainty in his voice. 'Perhaps a new Ancestral Realm would emerge. Deities concentrate the power they gain in themselves. But Devils can't do the same, so the power of dead Deities would be enough to energize something new. The only doubt I have is whether this would be good for the rest of the living beings not related to Hell.'
'Then we have to prevent that from happening! Or at least we can't allow the war of the dimensions to reach such a point!' That was the last of the worries on his mind now.
Anyway, as soon as the surrounding space stabilized, and the newly formed throne disappeared into its domain, Minos focused on the other call he had received. 'Time to kill the next Devil!'
