Chapter 2939: A Thousand Years in the Blink of an Eye
Chapter 2939: A Thousand Years in the Blink of an Eye
'I'm late...' Minos looked at his creation, who had just informed that had lost track of the second Devil mentioned earlier.
Looking at the horizon of this world, which was dominated by seas and very little land, Minos felt the frustration of losing something so valuable after making all the effort to come to this place in search of the death of yet another Devil.
But he couldn't blame his creation. Against a level 128 Devil, few beings on all planes of existence could stop them from coming and going as they pleased. His catching up with the previous Devil had already been an excellent mark and in this situation, Minos couldn't complain, despite his frustration.
He looked at his subordinate and ordered, already preparing to return to the realm. "Continue your search. I'm sure we'll find others."
"Yes, master!"
The space around Minos changed, and he disappeared from the coastal site his creation was left behind to continue searching.
As he crossed space-time, Minos heard something from the throne.
'Your inheritance is officially open. One of your family members can now go in search of one of them. The others will have to wait for the next throne you get.'
Naturally, Minos wouldn't put his family members in competition with each other for the same throne. So, as he gathered vacancies in the Upper Realm, one of his companions at a time would have the chance to join the inheritances he had recently created.
'Perfect. Pass on my message to everyone. I've been waiting for you in the Upper Realm!' Minos smiled with satisfaction, imagining this would be the first of many chances he would have to direct the final growth of his companions.
He couldn't directly give the extra thrones he got to anyone. After all, these thrones had their own wills, even when they didn't develop intelligence, like the case of his own throne. But that wasn't all bad. His family and friends still had room to grow. Their inheritance could be what they needed to finish maturing as cultivators.
Minos didn't intend to interfere directly in the tests for his future heirs, so he left everything to the throne. At the moment, his focus was on continuing with his plans to increase the number of empty thrones in his domains!
With his focus in mind, he returned to the Upper Realm, beginning his journey to his domain to deal with the results of his first actions in the realm.
...
Meanwhile, in the Seraphim Dimension, in the universe of origin of Minos and his family...
The Seraphim Dimension remained calm and stable, as it had been for countless millennia before Minos was born. The beautiful world of Lydis' watchers for their universe continued its work, keeping smaller, undeveloped worlds safe from contacting interstellar civilizations.
Previously, the race had been weakened by the loss of many of its members in the Spiritual World, but after Minos brought back the souls of their dead, many of them had already been reborn and made up for the lack of personnel. But besides this, Minos' progress towards becoming an Entitled Deity contributed even more to this race, strengthening it as a whole, raising it to a level that few races outside the Upper Realm could reach.
And so, as expected, the seraphim who stayed behind after Minos' promotion—most of the members of the race—have been treating Minos' family even better than before.
Not by chance, Minos' four wives, living in this dimension at the moment, were now at the heart of the Seraphim Tribe, living in the former home of the dimension's leader.
In the giant estate of that old acquaintance of Minos, Ruth, Abby, Gloria and Segiel were divided into four different cultivation areas, concentrating on their meditations, as they had done for the last few centuries.
Time had run out for everyone who was away from Minos. While he chased after his affairs in the realm, centuries had passed. Even so, the cultivations of each of them remained stagnant at the same levels as when they had left him.
Abby was at level 125 and didn't see any possibility of advancement before a few thousand years of cultivation. Meanwhile, Ruth and Gloria weren't that far from their breakthroughs, but they would still need centuries of cultivation like they were having now. Only an Absolute grade absorbable weapon would shorten the time needed for them to advance more quickly.
As for Segiel, she was the furthest behind in terms of cultivation among Minos' wives, and her advancement should take even longer than Ruth's and Gloria's.
Neither of them had received bonuses for his promotion to the Upper Realm, since they were only his wives and didn't share his lineage. And since they didn't want to experience the dangers of cultivation away from him, they were focused on the path they had been following for the last few centuries.
This was not the case with Minos' other relatives who stayed behind after his advance, or even his companions who were in the Seraphim Dimension. Each of them was involved in something, having started exploring the dimension or even other areas of the universe near where they were after Minos' success.
In the first years after his advance to the Upper Realm, they had all stayed where they were, following their previous plans. But as time went on, more and more of them went beyond their routines, reaching the current point where there were family members spread across many sectors of the universe.
These family members were going back and forth between different worlds and their safe havens, such as the Seraphim Dimension. In such a place, three old friends of his were currently in position to receive other members and carry on their own affairs afterwards.
In the palace of the seraphim, where the four women were cultivating, the former Supreme Leader of the Armhands, Jalai, was drinking something hot next to Vico Travisani and Emlyn, the former Nine-Tailed Fox, now a Celestial Fox, one of Minos' oldest friends.
Emlyn had reached level 119 centuries after her departure from the Spiritual World, having joined Jalai and Vico when they came to the Seraphim Dimension years ago. She was seeking level 120, but was neither cultivating nor exploring the universe. She was waiting for the return of another group of allies to leave their seclusion or return to the dimension for her to leave. As such, she had been spending most of her time alongside those two high-level Supremes, Vico, currently at level 123 and Jalai at the absolute peak of level 124.
After Kendrick had become stronger than him, Jalai had left his position in Oqia and come to this dimension to wait for the day when Minos would fulfill his promise to take him to the Upper Realm. So, unlike Emlyn, he wasn't waiting for anyone to return or leave cultivation, but was patiently waiting for Minos' signal.
While he waited, Jalai spent his time with the fox and the blond human drinking tea with him, the only ones besides the members of the seraphim race there with him now.
This day seemed like just another one of the many they'd had over the last two years, when suddenly, a golden throne formed in the sky above the estate.
The three had never seen such a throne before, but they had heard of it from Minos' children, the ones who refused to enter the Upper Realm. When they felt the pressure of it and looked in the throne's direction, they recognized it promptly.
The three left where they were to go closer to the throne when its majestic voice resounded throughout the dimension.
"Mortals. My Senior declares the start of the Upper Realm Games. The Stuart Family will have one slot with the possibility of ascension to the Upper Realm as an Entitled Deity. Decide amongst yourselves who will receive this opportunity. You have 100 days."
