Chapter 824: Supreme Dragon of Darkness, Valus(5).

"Your shadow is amazing."

"Is he? Ha ha, thank you for the compliment, I guess."

Maxwell let out a dry cough, beads of sweat rolled down his brow as he cautiously took a few steps back.

A black tide of energy had emerged from his body and pushed the black blade away. Based on what the Robot Samurai in front was saying, the black tide of energy was his shadow.

'So that's what the skill 'True Shadow' is huh... Neat.'

Nonetheless, he wasn't relaxed in this scenario at all. Shi Lam was someone way above his level, and he was close to pissing his pants.

He was, after all, face to face with a being no human could ever hope to reach, much less his untalented self. Even if Maxwell was unaware of Shi Lams true standing... His senses were just telling him.

The entire group could come at not be a match for this one, however, this one wasn't hostile.

"How lucky you are."

"I beg your pardon?"

Shi Lam smirked.

"Had the Realm not been restrained due to the arrival of the prince, someone of your calibre would have never survived here for even a second."

Maxwell gulped, waiting for the being to continue.

"And yet, your the most suited for the power of shadows beside the princes, the other two couldn't even do anything with theirs."

"May I ask as to what has happened to my companions?"

The princes were definitely Alan and Kazikato, whilst the other two were Alexander and Edward. It had been a while since communication had been cut, so he was worried about all of them.

Fortunately, with how the being in front of him acted, he probably knew.

Now the only question was if this one was willing to tell...

"One lies bruised but alive amidst the black sands, and the fox lies crippled, the black sands will devour him soon enough. The young prince is resting, whilst I'm still having quite the time with the prince."

'That's mean the dragon boys are okay... But Alexander and Edward are having a rough time.'

Especially Edward.

Maxwell needed more info, but before he could ask anything else, the black blade was at his throat once more.

"Since you have asked yours, mind if I ask mine?"

He nodded slightly, as if he had a choice in the matter.

"Do you think you will succeed?"

'What?'

The question posed by Shi Lam was confusing, succeed in what exactly?

"Your shadow tells me of an interesting ambition, to kill the man that birthed you, and raze his guild to the ground."

Maxwell froze, Shi Lam evidently couldn't care less, and asked once more.

"Do you think you will succeed?"

Max didn't answer, he merely narrowed his eyes as the Black Blade cut his skin, drawing the faintest amount of blood. His shadow rose once more, but this time, it couldn't push the blade away.

As much as it tried.

"Though he is an insect to me, you are an insect to him. What insect can topple a tiger alone?"

Shi Lam pressed on, taking in the knowledge the shadows told him.

He could read through the memories held by Maxwell's shadow, and he couldn't help but be interested.

His shadow remembered what Max forgot, and despite its best attempts to resists, it couldn't escape Shi Lam.

Unwillingly, it was telling him what Maxwell hadn't shared even to Alan and the group.

Maxwell had already deduced that Shi Lam had a skill to read his memories, although he was confused as to why he would bother. He was still unaware that his own Shadow was the one telling Shi Lam everything.

He was still clueless about the shadow element, and he was cursing it at this very moment.

If he only he studied Kazikato's element more, he would have had more knowledge, but alas.

"You have a surprisingly good chance, all of it acquired here."

Maxwell raised his brows, eager to hear more.

He had spent his entire life trying to figure out how to beat his father

Every waking moment was to gain as much of an advantage, but even then, he didn't think he had much of a chance.

So why was Shi Lam saying he did? Why? What did he know that Maxwell didn't? Especially about his own father?

What did Shi Lam figure out in a few moments that Maxwell hadn't his entire life? He was eager to know.

The Black Blade travelled up his neck to his chin, lifting it up a little.

Meanwhile, his shadow tried it's best to stop it, but to no avail. Maxwell wasn't even paying attention to the energy guarding him anymore.

He just wanted Shi Lam to continue.

"Your the most interesting among the prince's cohort."

"Why, thank you. Now would you please elaborate on what you said before?"

Shi Lam sheathed his blade, letting out a small laugh. At least one person among the princes cohort managed to meet his expectations.

Maxwell's shadow was truly special, and why was that?

Because it wasn't alone. Maxwell had unknowingly become the home of many shadows who had lost their master in Titan.

Shi Lam was amazed by it, he really was. For someone who didn't even have an affinity to the element of shadows, such a thing was miraculous.

"Very well."

Shi Lam nodded inwardly. The human deserved some praise, and some help. The shadows he held were begging for it.

"This trip has been far more beneficial for you than anyone else besides the prince. Listen well, human who wishes to face the chosen of a God beast."

'Chosen of a God Beast?'

"If you succeed in creating the opportunity you wanted so desperately your entire life.

Your victory is certain."

"...!"

"The scales with tip in your favor no matter what, only if you remember this.

The lands of Shadow are a priceless treasure, engrave into your being the sands and the clouds, and the Black Sun that watches over all.

The rest, I believe you have it handled. Oh, and go west, your fox friend needs help. Then proceed east and stay there, I'll come pick you up."

Shi Lam disappeared in a flash, leaving Maxwell deep in thought.

He shook his head and got on his bike, heading towards Edward.
