Chapter 825: Supreme Dragon of Darkness, Valus.(6)
Chapter 825: Supreme Dragon of Darkness, Valus.(6)
Alan fell to the ground, regenerating his right arm and the tip of his tail. His fall was cushioned by the shadows, which had expanded to cover the black sand. He didn’t particularly need it, but it seemed his shadow had different plans.
It was acting independently, and while its actions didn’t negatively impact Alan, they weren’t of help either. Alan was merely confused as to what his shadow was doing. Nevertheless, it did listen when he personally commanded it... Other than that, it liked to do whatever it thought would help in the fight.
Alan stared at Shi Lam in the skies. He was thinking about how to harm Shi Lam; he didn’t want to land a major blow, just a scratch would be fine.
However, Shi Lam was unbelievable. He already knew it, but witnessing the gap between him and a Divine being was something else.
Nothing he would do would work, not his seven-star techniques, even the state of Enlightenment wouldn’t do anything. Even in that powerful form...
He wouldn’t land a scratch.
"Do you think I can defeat SSS-rank? What about an Epic being?"
Shi Lam, who had been ready for an attack, stopped for a brief moment. He hadn’t expected Alan to ask a question. He was just on the verge of having fun as well.
"You are far beyond any SSS-rank, although the rank of Epic may vary."
"Vary? How so?"
Alan turned his head, he was aware of the differences in each rank, that only seemed to rise the higher they went... so he was expecting either a yes or a no, what did he mean by vary?
"My prince, by any chance, have you only met opponents far above your level? You underestimate yourself far too much."
Shi Lam continued to explain as he slowly walked down. He was still walking in the air.
"In the lower ranks, anything is possible, really. A B-rank can take down an S-rank, and in some cases, even a normal man can take down an SSS-rank, provided a Unique Skill is present, along with the proper circumstances. However, this is rare; this is why anyone capable of doing so is called an Irregular.
But it is not impossible. Anything can happen in the lower ranks, after all. You, my prince, are an irregular as well. Even if you don’t have a Unique skill."
’I do... but go on.’
"With your absurd regeneration factor, the usage of aura, the natural talents of a dragon, the power of the Winter Heart, and the power of a shadow, and the fact that you are an amazing combatant, you are an irregular. You are practically SSS-rank already.
Even if the system window doesn’t show it that way. You can definitely kill an SSS-rank; without a doubt, you have the arsenal to accomplish such. It would be arduous, but not as arduous as an SSS-rank trying to kill you with no special arsenal.
However, against an Epic being, you would lose. Everyone would lose."
Alan raised his brows, curious as to why the word ’everyone’ was used.
"Epic is the first step to Supremacy, followed by Legendary, Mythic, and Divine. You would not win; no one from the lower ranks would win.
Even if they have a unique skill, even if they have the best possible circumstances. Alone, without the help of an Epic being or higher, a lower rank cannot kill an Epic being. It is the doorway to transcendence.
No lower rank can win against an Epic being, the same way no Epic being can win against a Legendary. No legendary can defeat a Mythic being, and no mythic can defeat a Divine being, and no amount of divinity will trample supremacy.
The league is simply different. Even the famous irregulars of the highest races, Elves, Dwarves, Orcs, Dragons, and God beasts... The geniuses of these races. Even they cannot bridge that gap."
Shi Lam reached the ground and approached Alan.
"The real race begins at the level of Epic, my prince. Everything before that is merely the prologue. You could have all the Unique Skills, you could have... everything. But as long as you are not an Epic Being, you cannot compete with an Epic Being. It is simply impossible."
"No matter what?"
"No matter what."
"But Azmakul sai-"
"Sir Azmakul was a Supreme being once, that is why. Now, I must prepare to send you all to the Dark World, to meet his highness Valus."
Shi Lam turned around, and Alan remained silent. This entire bout was merely Shi Lam trying to teach him the ways of a Shadow, but he never imagined the gap was this big. But still, he had another... belief.
Was this law really absolute? That in the upper ranks, you had to be of the same rank to even pose a threat? Then... was Earth really doomed?
The Abyssal layer attacking Earth had an Epic being, someone who had stepped through the door of transcendence, and was at the very first step of supremacy?
Alan stopped for a moment and just thought. He had access to more information than Shi Lam in certain cases... and this was one of them.
Aranus had bridged it, had he not? He had done the impossible many times, although not in a good way. He beat every Supreme being when he was Supreme, all Supreme beings together. He challenged a Supreme being as a Mythic being, and he didn’t even use Lapsus.
Was that law really absolute?
"Suppose..."
Alan looked up at Shi Lam, the old dragon turned his head, eager to hear his question.
"Suppose there was one, someone who could still do it... Wh-"
"Then they would be the very first in the history of the entire universe, and that is an unfathomably long time, my prince.
It has never been done, and it can never be done."
Shi Lam disappeared into the ground, turning into a shadow, and left Alan all alone in the realm of Shadows.
’Ha...’
What was he thinking anyway? He wasn’t Aranus.
