Chapter 831: The Gospel.
Chapter 831: The Gospel.
Most of the information she had thought was actually valuable was about the Church of Darkness, and it’s ’bible’ was fascinating.
It was a biography of all the first kings, explaining their entire lives from their birth to end, what led to their motivations and their strength. However, one thing caught her off guard.
The Bible of the Church of Darkness was a biography of the first kings, treated just like the holy books on Earth, but there was one difference.
It had only one mention of Valus, the object of worship only had an entrance at the final Chapter, other than that, there was nothing about their ’god’. It was just a story of the first kings until the end.
Valus had little presence there as well, there were no commandments from him, no rules to follow, He was just present at the final Chapter, and even then, only at the very end, in a single line.
Other than that, the only useful information about the Supreme were his feats, his many names, and his tendencies and relations. And even then, there wasn’t much to go on, which confused her.
Why such reverence, but little to no context as to where it comes from?
She had read multiple things many times, but given the time limit, she had barely scratched the surface, nonetheless, Alan was happy enough to hear it all.
It was the first time she had seen him so interested in something, while everyone else besides Maxwell had ignored most of what she gathered, Alan had absorbed it all.
Especially the tendencies, relations, and the powers of the Supreme of Darkness, he had paid little to no attention to anything else. It was a first for her.
However, the Supreme of Darkness was something that sparked her interest as well. The drop of blood Alpha had fed her when she became ’Almada’ belonged to Valus. Alpha had only told her that she had been instructed to give it to her, and that Almada had signed a deal with the Dragon of Darkness.
Unfortunately, there wasn’t anything in the Library about this deal, therefore, she was in the dark.
"It’s ready."
A voice broke her out of her thoughts, it was Azmakul, finished with the portal to the world of Darkness, he stepped back from the magic circle, and everyone watched as a surprisingly normal portal appeared.
It was just like Alan’s portal, only black in color. They had been expecting something special this time as well, like the one that led them to the Realm of Shadows, but it was just an ordinary portal, almost making them wonder why it took Azmakul so long to make it.
Little did they know, he had forgotten the coordinates, he had been asleep for a long time after all.
There weren’t even any special effects, even Alan was surprised, but shrugged it off.
"Now, I believe the young lady already told you the specifics, So I’ll just make it brief."
Azmakul stepped aside, and urged them into the portal.
"Good luck, and make sure to abide by the rules."
----
The world of Darkness was a place of pilgrimage, there was only a single piece of land on it, where those who worshiped Valus visited and stayed, and it was the home ground of the Church of Darkness as well. They managed everything in the world.
That piece of land was an island, a small one compared to the World of Darkness, and a city had been constructed on top of, filled to the brim with churches displaying various texts, Libraries of knowledge, taverns, and a dock.
According to the texts Sabrina had read, only those chosen by the darkness could come here, and offer their respects to their lord. The pilgrimage actually began at the dock, and those that had been chosen, but weren’t ready, could stay in the city for as long as they wanted.
Everything was free, but there was one rule to follow, aside from the normal religious rules, and it was to never take off your cloak, and never speak, even telepathically. In the world of Darkness, your identity was hidden from everyone by wearing a simple cloak.
Other than those two rules, everything else could be forgiven. You could also talk with companions in private, but never engage in any conversation in public.
The pilgrimage officially began when a soul was ready to sail towards the Dark sea, which made up ninety-nine percent of this world. It was a rough and strange sea according to every text she had read, where nothing would go your way.
Those that managed to tame the darkness and search for the light in the dark sea would be granted the highest honor, and would meet Valus. This was the most important piece of information she had managed to gain, because they were in the dark about the trials in this place.
Even Azmakul had refused to say much, and the trial given to Alan was relatively simple in words.
[Trials of Darkness.]
[Meet the Dragon of Darkness, Valus: Incomplete.]
That was all he had to go on, but thankfully, the information she had gathered was able to point them in the right direction. They just had to sail in a sea of eternal darkness... and hope they found Valus.
Supposedly, when one sailed in the sea of darkness, there was no way to illuminate the surroundings, no form of magic, no special fire could illuminate beyond the vessel you sailed upon.
It was just you, and your boat in a black world. Everything beyond was a mystery, and every step forward felt as if you were walking towards the open maw of a dangerous beast. It was like a horror movie.
Nonetheless, they had to do it, and strangely enough, everyone was excited for it. After all... what was so scary about voyaging into an endless world of black in search of a faint light, something that most people far more qualified than them failed to find?
Nothing at all, apparently.
