Chapter 834: Dark world. (3).
The mansion they were staying in was one only given to the higher ranking members of the Church of Blinding Darkness, Alan and Kazikato's status was even higher than those, therefore they were permitted to stay in such a place.
When Alan scanned the outside of the mansion with his Mana sense, he didn't find it to be as large as expected. The inside of the mansion far exceeded the outside, the proportions were simply not there.
A sort of spatial magic had been cast on the mansion, enlarging the interior by leaps and bounds. Alan was busy studying it, whilst the others simply enjoyed the fact that they had a proper bed now.
Ever since the Arctic Titan was destroyed by Azmakul's mistake, the group had slept on the cold ground of Lanekia, and if it weren't for the Jade Palace, even their other needs would have to be fulfilled in other ways.
The Jade Palace had everything but comfortable beds, every piece of furniture there was made of crystals and ice, and it wasn't exactly comfortable. Only Alan could find any sort of comfort in a bed made of nothing but hard ice.
The soft cushioning in the mansion was the equivalent to heavenly bliss for everyone else, who had been so tired from the journey. All of them had fallen asleep already, and only Alan remained awake as he studied the magic cast on the mansion.
Extending his hand, he performed it by himself, expanding the air in the palm of his hand. He had succeeded easily, one of the perks of being a dragon, but he didn't understand the magic.
It was the same as the skills he had learned back on Earth from Elena, a multitude of ice spells and her own special skill, 'Glacial Collapse'. Over time, he had begun to understand Glacial collapse completely, and incorporate it into other spells, but at the beginning, he had merely copied it.
He didn't understand this spatial expansion at the same time as well. But it didn't mean he had no idea how to use it. Even if he didn't have the basic understanding behind the composition of the spell, he could still use it as he wished.
A dragon was the monarch of mana, all spells were under his command. Alan focused his mana in the space he had created, and expanded it as much as he could. The mana was not an issue, but as he continued to increase the size of the space, he found it difficult to maintain its shape.
It wasn't an issue of control, and neither was it of insufficient mana. Alan found the space collapsing in on itself, and the magic ultimately failed. The expanded space he had constructed had collapsed from within.
"Is it because there isn't anything inside?"
He had been controlling it, so even air couldn't enter, perhaps that was the issue. The spell may have failed because there was nothing inside to support the expanded space? Alan raised his head in puzzlement and used [Dragon Eyes] to examine the mansion once more.
He noticed clumps of mana in certain places. In some parts of the mansion, mana was concentrated, acting like support pillars in a building. On every other area, the mana concentration as normal.
He attempted the magic once more, this time, filling the entire area inside the expanded space with his mana. Previously, he had let the air originally in the area of his palm stay, but as he expanded the space, his absurd level of control had made sure nothing else entered.
He couldn't exactly fill the expanded space with air, since everyone, including he, would probably suffocate. He substituted it for his mana instead, since that was something he had a lot of.
The space continued to increase with more stability this time, but Alan had to control certain areas where a collapse was more likely to occur.
He had succeeded, a bundle of mana lay concentrated in his palm, inside the space he had constructed. It may have looked like it was just the size of his palm, but it was as big as the lounge he was in.
Alan absorbed his mana back into his body as dismantled the space. He could use it in many ways. He could simply increase the expanding space with his mana supporting it.
Or he could set a clear limit to the expanding space, but let his mana run in until it was too much for the space to handle. In that way, it could be a bomb, but it was weak. An explosion of raw mana may sound impressive, especially since it came from the reserves of a dragon, but it was still something that could be easily defended against.
It wasn't a concrete spell, merely a super powered mana bomb, a basic spell that almost anyone could do, although the proportions were vastly different, the essence was still the same.
Alan sighed, standing up from the couch and stretching his sore body. He gazed at the blue fire burning brightly in the fireplace with a tired gaze, before donning his cloak. He left a note at the table in the middle, and promptly left the mansion.
[I'll be back soon, Wait for me.]
The note would suffice for now, he didn't want to wake everyone up just to tell them something as simple as that. For now, he had a more pressing matter to attend too.
It may be his first time in this dark world physically, but it wasn't exactly his first time at all. He had been in the home world of Valus, the Dragon of Darkness before, although it was an unconventional and deadly visit.
He had entered this world quite a few times before through his dreams, where his body was placed in the happenings of an iteration of the universe long gone. A memory where he actually felt the danger of death by just the excess energy of Valus and Aranus.
"..."
Alan let out a deep sigh, as his eyes scanned every corner of every street he walked in. He had some questions of his own that he wanted answers of... and for that.
He needed to tour this city.
