The Villain's Story

Chapter 924: The World's best method of Transportation.

Chapter 924: The World’s best method of Transportation.

Spatial sorcery is considered to be one of the most elusive and rare sorceries. It is a field of immense power, and at the same time, one of the weakest as well. Spatial sorcery is hard to define in terms of absolute power.

Unlike pure power type elements such as Fire, Lightning, Metal, and Darkness, it is considered to be more of a utility type element. However, the strength of magic always depends on the magician. Spatial sorcery may not have many ‘pure power’ spells, but it is not a weak field in the least.

The origins of modern spatial sorcery in the universe trace back to a Royal Elf called Stellaron, who currently stands at the top of the Divine. Before Stellaron, Spatial sorcery was possessed primarily by the Prime Species, and even then, they did not make much of it. They taught some of it to their subjects.

Ironically, Stellaron was never born with an affinity for Space. The Stars were originally never destined to be his to control. One time, in the royal elven palace, the young prince had ventured into one of the laboratories dedicated to the research of Spatial sorcery, mainly on how to stabilize portals and to elaborate on their designs.

In the middle of his playtime, the young prince stumbled into a dangerous area. The experiments being conducted in the laboratory had failed immensely. The failure resulted in an explosion of Spatial mana; all the researchers died, and Stellaron?

Transported to a dimension where he could neither see nor hear. A dimension where his mortal senses were useless. A dimension that could not be explained in words, a dimension of energy. In this dimension, Stellaron spent hundreds of thousands of years. Perhaps even millions.

This dimension had an abundance of spatial mana, and that was his only respite. In this dimension, where he had no need for food, no need for sleep, no need for oxygen, Stellaron quite literally created modern spatial sorcery… with not an ounce of information about it. He had never been taught about it, and he had never even read a single book about it. During his time, Spatial sorcery was even more elusive and vague than it is now!

It was simply Trial and Error. He repeated it hundreds of millions of times until he got it right, learning from his mistakes… and going crazy in the process.

Stellaron went crazy many times, but in the end, he would always snap back to sanity. In this unknown dimension, Stellaron spent millions of years, focused on creating what is currently known as the modern state of Spatial Sorcery.

Eventually, Stellaron found his way back to his home, although he was a much different man than when he left. In his universe, only seventy years had passed, while he had spent millions of years in that dimension.

The Father of Spatial Sorcery was never born with an affinity for space, but in the end, he spent millions of years of trial and error, quite literally creating it from scratch. He developed an affinity for space in that unknown dimension and eventually rose to the Divine Realm within that dimension.

All modern spatial sorcery descends from him; Alan’s portals are no exception, though he may be ‘instinctively’ able to open a portal, that knowledge was given to him by The Weave, which gained it from Stellaron himself! Stellaron is the only other being besides Ariel to have taught something to The Weave!

While his achievement was not recognized as an absolute law like Death, it was still an incredible feat.

Stellaron is the one who created spatial sorcery; all of what Alan currently knows comes from him as well, and even then, Alan is at the intermediate level of spatial sorcery! However…

He doesn’t need to be particularly advanced to create portals… Portals are the most basic and also the most important part of Spatial sorcery! Unfortunately, sometimes, the most prominent spatial sorcerers are used as the most convenient mode of transport.

It was only Alan’s fault that he was the best one on Earth, it was only his fault that he had the greatest amount of mana… It was only his fault; he was too good!

Alan sighed as he closed the file. The conference was about to end, but he still couldn’t stop thinking about how much work he had to. He was a bit lazy, and it was a headache thinking about all the portals he would have to open after the small expedition with Amanda Wells was done!

Although one thing about that expedition garnered Alan’s attention…

‘It’s there…’

The expedition he was going on with Amanda Wells would be in America, specifically the part that was lost during the invasions. They would venture into the former states of Nevada, stay in Las Vegas for a while before going forth into the danger zones, mainly Arizona and New Mexico. After that, they would return to Las Vegas, resupply, and venture into California, ‘reclaim’ both San Francisco and Sacramento… and then, they would advance towards Washington.

‘That’s where Seattle is…’

Seattle was important to Alan; he remembered it vividly, for it was the city closest to the Beach he was born. He wanted to see that beach. He wanted to witness his birthplace in all its glory. The timing shouldn’t be too different, so the beach should still be beautiful.

For a moment, Alan forgot the massive workload and focused on recalling that beautiful beach. He was slightly happy, having found the chance to go there. Although it would be better if he was going alone…

Nothing on Earth, even the uncharted territories, really posed a threat to him. Taking some people with him wasn’t an issue as well. They could be good company; besides, he needed some time to get mentally ready to visit the beach.

“My, that is quite the workload.”

Daniel said from the side, having peeked at Alan’s file, Alan didn’t pay him any attention, busy recollecting the beach. He didn’t mind having his file looked at, although he did wonder why Harrison did it so openly.

Daniel Park didn’t say anything and stood up to leave. The conference ended once everyone received their missions, and they were free to leave. Alan had to stay, however. Harrison Soubuelle wished to talk with him; therefore, he had to stay.

Richard and everyone else left, and Alan was left alone in the Conference room with Elijah and Harrison. The man still stood on the stage, assuming the same stiff pose. Elijah, on the other hand, was sweating.

Alan patiently waited for him to speak. He was curious as to why he had been stopped; what else did the Leader have for him?

Harrison finally stepped down from the stage, carrying a set of files. He approached Alan and stretched out his hand.

“First of all, I’m sorry that you have so much to do. Gary is insufficient in many ways right now. He’s already collapsed from exhaustion three times from setting up portals.”

Alan stood up and extended his hand as well, giving Harrison a firm handshake. The man nodded in agreement and continued.

“Second of all, my apologies for the reveal. It’s a good kind of bait, and I’m willing to make it up to you.”

“Bait?”

Alan questioned, and the man elaborated further.

“Bait to drag out demons and demonic humans, as well as other bastards colluding with them. The Expedition you are going to set out on is mainly focused on growing Amanda Wells and making sure it’s well known that you are going there. The existence of you and Amanda will attract a lot of people, and there are many who will strike.

The Association mainly wishes to deal with the remaining demonic forces. A lot of them are situated in the remote areas of the United States. Especially in San Francisco and Sacramento. I believe you can deal with them easily.

“…”

Alan remained silent, thinking about the increase in the workload.

“However, if you wish, you can be assigned a different mission. Elijah’s task was to go to Antarctica with his team and rescue a special person, along with useful data and equipment. He has been complaining a lot lately about elemental compatibility. You two can swap, if you agree.”

After he said that, Elijah stepped in, complaining about all his experiences in Gigantia and his immense workload. Alan did question why Harrison ever thought sending a Fire Dragon to the sea was a good idea… but in the end, he rejected it.

“Wait, Why?! It’s Antarctica! Basically, a heaven for you!”

“Just cause.”

Alan answered as he tried to desperately shake off Elijah, who was clinging to his knees, begging him to switch.

“What do you mean by ‘Just cause’?!”

“Get off me!”

Had it not been for the existence of the beach, he would have opted to switch. The main reason Alan wanted to actually go on the Expedition seriously was to visit his birthplace. Furthermore, he would be lying if he said he didn’t want Elijah to suffer a little because he secretly used [Dragon Eyes] on him.

Alan was aware that it wasn’t actually Elijah, but if he was being honest. He didn’t care. After finally shaking off Elijah and throwing him at the wall. He opened a portal behind him and said.

“If that was all, I’d like to go now.”

Harrison nodded, and Alan stepped into the portal, disappearing. Elijah’s cries rang out in the conference room.

“NOOOO!”

Harrison didn’t pay him any mind, staring at the place the portal appeared. In the end, he clicked his tongue.

‘Such an envious ability…’

He was going to make good use of it.
