Chapter 949: To Las Vegas!
Chapter 949: To Las Vegas!
“Aghhhh….”
Alan let out a stifling groan, fueled purely by his boredom. There he lay, sitting on a bench made of ice in the middle of a military compound. The sun was bright, and for some god damn reason, he was not allowed to rest on the inside, where there was an air conditioner.
Apparently, the officers were ordered to not let any unauthorized personnel deeper into the compound. For a second, Alan wanted to smash the officer who stated that into the wall, but was stopped in time by Alexander and Olivia, as well as the rest of the Twilight members.
For some reason, the military was adamant on being stubborn as hell, despite being aware of his rank, and the mission he was assigned to by their direct superior. He didn’t know why all the men in uniform in this compound had a stick up their ass… and he was really close to losing it.
“Just chill, They are probably afraid of you.”
Alexander commented from the side, sitting on the ground, sharpening his twin swords.
“What the fuck did I even do to them?”
Alan inquired, to which Olivia answered.
“Your pretty famous for losing your temper, Alan. And no one would want someone who can easily destroy a city on the inside of a military compound. Do you have any idea how much expensive equipment there is inside there?”
Alan snapped back.
“That’s false! I only lose my shit on people that deserve it. I never start something! I only end it.”
With that, he turned to the seven other guild members from Twilight.
“Am I right, guys?”
The seven simply nodded their heads in fear, and respect, though it was hard to determine which one was greater. Olivia heaved a heavy sigh at the abuse of authority, while Alexander only chuckled.
Alan, satisfied with the majority vote being on his side, complained.
“And when are those guys from the other guilds coming? And where are the government bastards?! Aren’t those guys usually on time?”
“No, the government is never on time. That would be the Association.”
“So where are they?”
“…”
Olivia remained quiet, not having an answer for that. As a courtesy, Richard had made the members of Twilight arrive thirty minutes earlier than the rest of the convoy, unfortunately, the said convoy was an hour late, and Alan’s patience was running thin.
Incredibly thin.
Even Alexander, who was usually more composed, was getting irritated. The other members of Twilight, who were new recruits, talented new recruits, didn’t know what to say.
On one hand, they could the see the most famous member of their guild slowly lose his patience, becoming something like a ticking time bomb. On the other hand, they were slowly watching Alexander, another reputable member of the guild, also slowly lose his patience.
They were thankful that Olivia, the grand daughter of the sage, was here to keep them both in check… but even they were unsure when she would snap as well. After all, nobody liked it if they were early for an appointment and everyone else was late.
Especially for one as important as this.
“They’re here.”
Alexander stood up and stretched, his gaze focused on the distance, at the entry of one of the hangars. Alan turned his head, his face full of annoyance as he took a good look at the arriving party.
The members of the Association, World Government, Titan, and Behemoth came together with one another. Alan sniffed the air, catching a peculiar scent.
“Did those fucks just have a dinner without us? And make us wait this long?”
His nose was telling him they all had a hearty meal at a restaurant, and that pissed him off. Not only were they late by an hour, but they had a dinner without bringing Twilight. Perhaps it was a power move.
‘The Association wouldn’t do something like that, if they did, Harrison would have their heads, neither would the World Government. It was probably Titan or Behemoth… those guys are known for hating us.’
Alan thought to himself, as he finally stood up, stretching swift body. He saw the others approach, all full of smiles and laughing with each other, as if they treated this mission like it was a vacation.
“Took you long enough.”
He said. Everyone focused their attention on him, but no one said anything. They were all aware of his rank now, and nobody would risk getting on his bad side even further. Amanda Wells shrugged her shoulders. The men from the Association and World Government were slightly confused, while those from Titan and Behemoth, excluding Elaine and Henry, had animosity and mockery written all over their face.
Elaine approached Alan, and apologized.
“Sorry… Father made the reservation, and made sure we went without you.”
Alan’s expression softened a little, until Henry stepped in.
“What does it even matter? It was just a simple dinner, nobody told you to wait out here in the sun for so long.”
He rolled his eyes, stepping into the aircraft, as a visible vein appeared on Alan’s face. From the side, the members of Titan and Behemoth snickered, and were about to say something, until a strict glare from Alan closed their mouths.
“Ahem.”
Olivia coughed, trying to diffuse the situation.
“Alright, we are already late, aren’t we? Why don’t we all just get into the aircraft?”
She suggested, dragging Alan back by his wrist, Alexander helped her, and Alan relented, cursing under his breath.
Amanda, one of the three people in this mission with actual authority, chuckled, as she urged everyone to board the aircraft. Finally, with the sole exception of Alan, everyone boarded the aircraft, and soon, it was in the air, heading for Las Vegas.
From the ground, Alan snorted, as he manifested his wings. He had another job while the group enjoyed gossiping with each other in the aircraft.
And that was to be a bodyguard, since he was the only one who could fly, and the strongest one in the convoy… his job was to guard the aircraft from any aerial monster curious enough to approach.
He unfurled his wings, and jumped, the force of his jump creating a crater in the middle of the compound.
That was intentional, if he wanted to, Alan could have floated up as gentle as a butterfly, but as payment for making him wait in the sun for so long, he decided not to.
‘Let’s get this over with…’
He sighed inwardly, going in front of the aircraft.
Hi, apologies for the slow updates, was busy with entry tests for Uni and a bunch of other things. Regular updates from now on. Also, while your at it, go read my other book! Unlike The Villain’s story, which I started because I was bored, leading to some… bad choices… Keep Dying, Knight! is actually well planned! Please give it a read, and more support for it means more chapters for both novels.
