The Villain's Story

Chapter 956: Affinity: Null.

Chapter 956: Affinity: Null.

[Alexander, what is the name of your father?]

Festul inquired, with a slight tone of worry, and curiosity. Alexander paused, causing Olivia to give him a weird look. He thought about the question for longer than he should have, mainly because he felt angry.

He was confused, wondering why in the hell Festul had asked him that specific question. Why on Earth would that even be relevant, considering how far Alexander had moved on from them? Why reignite those memories.

‘Arken Miller.’

He answered, without a shred of hesitation. Ever since the System had recognized ‘Miller’ to be his last name, he had already accepted his master as a father figure. He had taken better care of him than his actual father, and actually hoped for his success. Although calling Arken ‘dad’ was still something Alexander thought weird, he was sure he was going to come around in due time.

[No, I mean your biological father.]

Festul, however, was not aiming for that answer. He pressed on, as Alexander lashed out in his mind.

‘Why on Earth are you so fixated on that bastard? I don’t want to think of him at all!’

[Do you not want to think of him? Or is it that you cannot?]

Alexander paused once more, confused. He wondered where Festul was going with this strange… question.

[Try to remember your actual Father’s name, in fact, try to remember his face, or other parts about him. Also try to remember your family. The Wright Family.]

Alexander… could not.

[It isn’t that you do not want to remember, but you literally cannot.]

As Alexander focused more on Festul’s words, he realized the truth. Festul… was right, He could not remember his family at all. The… whatever the last name was, family was covered in a gray fog within his mind.

They were all blank, an empty space in his mind, a strange kind of space that he could not figure out. His family… was grayed out.

“… What the hell?”

He cursed out, as Olivia threw him a worried glance. He ignored it, and focused more on this anomaly. He could not remember his mother, his brother and sisters… in fact, he did not even know how many siblings he had. It was all… strange.

He delved deeper, as deep as he could, but in the end, he always came out with nothing. Why so? He inquired in his mind.

[It’s as I expected then… quite a problem.]

‘Explain, now, please.’

Festul sighed, deep within his soul, as he explained.

[I’ve always been confused with your unique affinity, I’ve never seen it, not even anything remotely close to it all my life, and believe me… I have lived a long time. It intrigued me, your [Null] affinity, and I began studying it.]

Alexander grabbed Olivia’s hand, and led her through the crowd, which was quite a shock to the young lady. Alexander meanwhile, wanted something to do to take his mind off his decaying memories. He was confused, and needed answers.

[Every affinity influences the user in some way or another, Fire, Ice, Time, and Dark, no matter what. It always has a degree of influence the user has to deal with one way or another. Darkness and Chaos are just the ones that have an extreme level of influence…

So naturally, I wondered, what kind of influence does [Null] have? And I finally figured it out. It’s making you forget… yourself, with each use. It’s frightening, and extremely so. It even got to me, making me forget I was even studying it. If not for my original status as a Supreme, I would have never noticed it.

The damn affinity is making you forget yourself…]

‘How big of an issue is this? Can it be… alleviated, in any form or way?’

There was a long period of silence, with each second only increasing Alexander’s worry. He did not wish to stop using his [Null] affinity. He was… proud of it, it was something that outright displayed his uniqueness. It was special to him, in many ways.

It was his, and only his. And he loved that. He was obsessed with that. Festul sighed, and asked.

[It is better to confront the ice dragon about this. I have never paid attention to something like this, more or less focusing on the path to power and stabilizing my clan. Affinities, and knowledge about them is limited to my own.]

Alexander scoffed at the suggestion.

‘And you think Alan knows? I can bet you he knows even less than me! He isn’t the type to pay attention to these kinds of things.’

[I’m still fairly certain he knows much more than you. He is a Dragon, and they come with strange perks like those. Although he may not know much about your [Null] affinity, the House of Death behind him will know… especially that dark, gloomy bastard.]

‘Who?’

[Just talk to the damn dragon. He’d be more help than you expect, besides, I feel as if he has undergone a considerable change. If he is of no help, then those that he is connected too will surely be of help.]

Alexander remained silent for a while, thinking about Festul’s words. In the end, it did not hurt to ask, as Alan would likely be willing to help. But… another matter occupied his brain, something important.

[Oh for the love of the Eternal flame!]

Festul cursed in his soul, his voice echoing through Alexander’s mind. The wolf was angry, and cursed.

[Forget this mortal trollop and focus on the more important task at hand! Do not try to woo the human female and just focus on work! Isn’t that attractive to most?]

‘No… besides, wouldn’t it be ru-‘

[I DON’T CARE ABOUT THIS, GO AND SEEK HELP FROM THE DRAGON!]

Alexander groaned as a headache engulfed him. With sad eyes, reminiscent of a puppy, as he told Olivia that he had an urgent matter to take care of, blaming it all on Festul. The girl was confused, but didn’t push it, even encouraging him to go take care of it.

Meanwhile, Alan himself was in a peculiar situation.
