Chapter 1058: Peach Blossom Cafe

Chapter 1058: Peach Blossom Cafe

As Cyrena held Vaan's big, warm hand, her body temperature rose according to her increasing heartbeat. Her world seemingly became small as she could not think about anything else; she could only focus on the sensation and joy of holding Vaan's hand.

"Have a guess where I am taking you for lunch," Vaan said as they strolled through the busy street.

"Um… I don't know. Where are we eating?" Cyrena asked in a small voice.

"Guess," Vaan smiled before adding, "I'll give you a reward if you guess correctly."

Cyrena's heart thumped excitedly upon hearing that. Her mind was no longer fixated on them holding hands as there was something else to look forward to.

"Hmm…"

Cyrena began to think seriously, suspecting her teacher might have chosen a high-end restaurant that not only sold good food but had a romantic atmosphere.

Subconsciously, Cyrena thought of a very popular Darkan-style cafe that was a hotspot for couples. Not only did it sell amazing sandwiches and sweet drinks, but the peach blossom trees were very romantic.

She had always wanted to visit that place but never actually went. After all, there was no meaning in going if it wasn't with the person she loved.

Originally, Cyrena thought it was impossible due to their student-teacher relationship. However, now that they were on a date, the impossibility had become a possibility.

Suddenly, expectations and fears filled her heart. She hoped Peach Blossom Cafe was the answer Vaan had in mind, but she didn't want to be disappointed either.

"Is it Peach Blossom Cafe…?" Cyrena guessed nervously.

"Oh?" Vaan feigned surprise as if admitting Peach Blossom Cafe was indeed what he had in mind, which surprised Cyrena in turn. Then, he smiled, "Haha, how did you know?"

Cyrena's heart was immediately filled with pure bliss. It was a happy feeling to be on the same wavelength as her loved one.

In truth, Vaan didn't have any destination in mind for lunch. He just knew better than to ask a girl what they wanted to eat. After all, nine out of ten arguments in relationships, even when they are good, are about where to eat.

Women either didn't know what they wanted to eat, or they expected their men to know what they wanted to eat. As such, they would reflect the question back at their men.

Naturally, men would just list all the good places, including what they might feel like eating.

However, regardless of their answers, their women would most likely get angry because none of the places mentioned were where they wanted to eat. In other words, no matter what men say, they would most likely still be wrong. R̃𝐀NộBĘṦ

As such, asking a woman what they wanted to eat was equivalent to walking into a dead end. Once the mistake is committed, making the woman angry is inevitable. The only solution is to avoid it from the very start.

Don't ask a woman what she wants to eat; a man should make her guess where he is taking her to eat. It would make her think about where she actually wants to eat. Even if she didn't know where she wanted to eat before, they would eventually know where she wanted to eat after.

Of course, this was not a foolproof trick that would work every time.

After all, a wise woman would not fall for the same trick twice. Alas, if it doesn't even work the first time, then it could only be the result of two possibilities: either the woman was too smart, or the man's acting sucked ass.

Vaan can only offer his condolences to men who fall into such a situation. When dealing with women, headaches are inevitable, but suffering is optional.

When Vaan and Cyrena arrived at Peach Blossom Cafe, it was very busy, as expected of a super-popular couple cafe. There wasn't a single table available for them to dine in, and the queue for a table was also very long.

Moreover, Peach Blossom Cafe had established itself and had a reputation to uphold. As such, its staff couldn't just give preferential treatment to people of higher statuses while wronging regular customers.

It would only destroy its reputation.

"I'm terribly sorry, Your Excellency," the female waiter apologized with a deep bow. She did her best to maintain professionalism, but her heart was full of fear and anxiety.

After all, she didn't let the Overlord cut the queue or clear a table for him. She just treated him like any other customer. The store didn't set any regulations on receiving such high-level guests. As such, she only did as she was trained to do.

However, when had the Overlord ever graced their cafe?

The female waiter feared that despite doing what she was trained to do, the cafe owner would still blame her. Even worse, many people might find her for trouble after today.

Fortunately, Peach Blossom Cafe was well-loved and had many understanding customers.

Although Vaan didn't intend to make things difficult for anyone, the long queue still magically disappeared, and many free tables were cleared.

Vaan could have just offered handsome compensation to anyone willing to offer up their table for them. Everything was made convenient for him before he could do anything. Such was the influence he possessed.

"Thank you, everyone."

As a token of his appreciation, he showered everyone with his wealth of divine energy crystal and mana stones. Everyone cheered and was happy, so there was no problem.

Vaan and Cyrena took the spare table under the peach blossom tree, which was also the furthest from every other table. It was the prime table of the cafe, perfect for couples to enjoy some personal space.

As such, Vaan and Cyrena finally had some privacy to cultivate their feelings, free from other people.

Everything still felt like a dream to Cyrena, even as she sat down across the table from Vaan. While browsing the menu, she couldn't help but feel self-conscious of other people's opinions.

After all, it wasn't common for students and teachers to enter an intimate relationship. Even if there were virtually no gap in their age, most people would consider student-teacher relationships similar to parent-child relationships.

As such, people would also consider it immoral and blasphemous if it developed into love between a man and a woman.

Although Cyrena didn't care if people talked about her behind her back, she knew Vaan would bear the brunt of the matter if people were to criticize the issue at all. That was also why she felt it was all a dream.

Did she deserve such happiness?

"Are you alright being together with someone like me, Teacher? Won't this harm your reputation?" Cyrena couldn't help but ask. The issue plagued her heart and mind.

Vaan simply chuckled when he heard this. She was making a problem out of nothing.

"You think too highly of me, Cyrena. I might have impressive status now, but I am still a scum and womanizer at my roots. My history of success is that of a slum rat who climbed his way up by warming the beds of other women. Do you think I would still be afraid of others talking badly about me?"

"So long as two people like each other and agree to be together, isn't that good enough? If other people didn''t like it, that is their problem. What the hell does it have to do with us? I'd say, let the angry people be angry. What we want to do is our choice to make; it shouldn't be dictated by the opinions of others. Don't let the doubts of others drown out the voice of your own dreams, Cyrena. Remember that."

"Besides, who would dare to think or talk badly about me in this current age? Heck, forget about criticizing me; no one will even dare to oppose my opinion. If I said I was a toad, no one would dare say that I am not. Do you believe it?"

"Pftt! Hahahaha… Thank you, Teacher."

Cyrena couldn't help but laugh heartily with teary eyes, feeling very happy, relaxed, and free. After listening to Vaan, the weight on her heart and mind had evaporated into nothingness.
