Chapter 1183: Vaan & Scarletsea
Chapter 1183: Vaan & Scarletsea
While Henrietta was holding back her emotions, Vaan suddenly tugged on her hand with force, drawing her petite body into his embrace before sealing her startled lips with his.
Her body subconsciously trembled with resistance before ultimately softening in submission, allowing Vaan to pry into her mouth with his tongue to tease and taste the timid delicacy within.
Waves of delightfulness washed over Henrietta as her body weakened, eyes blurring with reminiscence and intoxication from Vaan’s manly scent.
Vaan’s long-awaited touch had awakened her body’s fond memories and lit a fire in her heart, unleashing her suppressed desires with surging force. Her youthful energy took over, prompting her to pounce on him proactively and passionately.
It was said that distance would make the heart grow fonder, but Henrietta didn’t just experience a fonder heart but fresh feelings, as if love were born anew.
Henrietta’s proactive passion was not something Vaan had expected from one who was usually so shy around him.
However, Henrietta was an old mind, even though she retained a youthful body. No, it was precisely because she had a youthful body that her passionate desire would burn more rigorously, having tasted the forbidden fruit before.
Months of suppressed desire were released without restriction.
Though the open sky was hardly the place for such acts, Vaan decided to allow nature to take its course in moments like this. He did not refuse Henrietta’s heated advances and even indulged her.
Still, a thin barrier of magic obscured their location, preventing potential peeping-toms from enjoying a free show.
Without further reservation, Vaan took Henrietta by force, connecting their hearts and bodies as one. Their beings melded as they exchanged the fires of passion and desire.
Their relationship may have begun as one of self-interest, then shifted to carnal pleasure, before love eventually bloomed, but they were ultimately husband and wife, committed to walking the path of cultivation together.
Even if their love lacked spiritual substance, their intimate session was still necessary, as it served as a confirmation of their relationship and commitment.
In the blink of an eye, three hours of passion passed before Henrietta was drained of her energy, leaving her flawless, fair body resting on Vaan’s and supported by him.
Given her initial momentum, it seemed she could dual-cultivate with Vaan for days on end, but in fact, she was like a star; the fiercer her passion burned, the quicker she exhausted herself.
She was overstimulated and too excited. Thus, she was exhausted early.
After the passion died down and her desire cooled, shame and reason finally returned to Henrietta, prompting her to bury her face in Vaan’s chest, unwilling to let him see her embarrassing self.
Henrietta couldn’t believe that she was so audacious as to indulge in such acts with Vaan in the wild, in the open sky no less. It was truly debauched and shameful beyond belief. She didn’t know what possessed her to have such courage.
If anyone caught sight of them, how could she still hold her head high in the Blackmoon Empire as its empress?
’I can’t believe I would do such a thing! Am I actually a perverted woman?’ Henrietta questioned herself.
It seemed as if she was losing her sense of morality to act so depravedly in the open.
Nevertheless, this self-blame lasted only briefly before Henrietta pinned the blame on Vaan for indulging her. She hammered his firm chest in complaint. ℝΑℕỖβΕ§
"Couldn’t we have done it elsewhere? Why did you let us do it in such an open space? What if someone saw us?"
Against such questions, Vaan opened his mouth, preparing a response, before ultimately closing it, shaking his head with a soft chuckle. Against such unreasonableness, his best choice was to just shrug it off and compromise.
Nothing good would come from arguing with Henrietta on this point; it would only create unnecessary conflict.
In a relationship, men could never be right, even if they were actually right—not because they couldn’t be right, but because they just wanted peace. Moreover, what would even be the point of it?
They could challenge the world outside, but they couldn’t challenge their women at home. What kind of man would that make them?
Weak and petty men?
Since Vaan was only back for a day, he didn’t wish to create any unnecessary conflict over petty matters, especially since they didn’t concern him. His heart was big enough to accept such concessions to his women.
Meanwhile, Henrietta also stopped hounding Vaan after seeing his light-hearted reaction. Stubbornly pursuing it would only make her seem too unreasonable and petty.
"You should see the others. I have already taken up three hours of your day. Any more and the others will blame me for being selfish," Henrietta said with a gentle smile as she tidied up Vaan’s clothes.
"Alright," Vaan casually nodded after some thought.
After they fixed their attire and cleaned themselves up with magic, Vaan dispersed the barrier and gave Henrietta a soft peck on the forehead.
Vaan’s gentleness immediately made Henrietta’s heart flutter, and her body heat gradually rose again, painting her cheeks crimson as she blushed shyly, yet not wanting Vaan to see; she gently pushed Vaan away with both hands.
"Go and see the others," Henrietta softly said while looking away.
However, Vaan shook his head, pulling Henrietta back into his embrace again before whispering into her ears, "Let me talk to your master."
Henrietta was surprised by Vaan’s request, but she shortly nodded.
"Alright."
Within moments, Henrietta’s aura completely changed as a sense of domineering ancientness permeated the area, replacing the tranquil peace with suffocating majesty.
Henrietta’s eyes flickered with primordial wisdom and wariness.
Although Henrietta’s cultivation had advanced several steps over the past six months, Empyrean Scarletsea’s possession of her body still placed a burden on it. Despite that, she still readily agreed to Vaan’s requisition, proving his position in her heart.
"What do you need?" Empyrean Scarletsea asked with knitted brows, appearing aloof and cold, yet also troubled by their bodily contact, not because she disliked it but because she feared she wouldn’t be able to contain her own emotions.
After all, while Vaan was the reincarnation of Vanitas, he was also not the same Vanitas that she knew and loved. He was no longer the same man who only had eyes for her.
Thus, even if the current Vaan recovered his past-life memories, he would not abandon all his women for her, nor would she wish for that of him. As such, she was already determined not to pursue this old romance.
Simply being able to watch him from a distance was enough for her.
Though Empyrean Scarletsea believed this, her heart trembled the moment Vaan tightened his grip, holding her firmly in his arms as she was about to pull away and draw some distance.
"What is the meaning of this?" Empyrean Scarletsea coolly asked, seemingly aloof yet shaken.
"I’ve also missed you, Scarlett."
With just this one phrase from Vaan, Empyrean Scarletsea felt her determination shatter. She had decided not to pursue this old romance, yet she found herself unwilling to let go once the other party decided to pursue it.
The era no longer belonged to them. Thus, the past should stay in the past. That should have been the natural way of things.
Yet...
With that one phrase from Vaan, Empyrean Scarletsea instantly knew that he was speaking to her as Vanitas. The person had recovered his past-life memories.
Suddenly, her heart was overwhelmed with sadness, longing, and joy–all at once. Countless years of repressed feelings surged out like rushing water from opened floodgates.
"I’ve missed you too! So, so, so very much!"
Empyrean Scarletsea cried in Vaan’s arms for a long while. Her tears simply poured out uncontrollably.
Vaan held her firmly in his arms, taking in all of her emotions in silence.
During his trip to the Myriad Sea God Palace, he had undergone much reflection. He pondered ceaselessly over what he should do with his old relationships from all of his past lives.
What should he do with all of the people he had left behind?
Ultimately, he decided that if his old lovers had moved on and found new partners, he would respect their choices and wish them happiness.
However, if they still valued their old relationship, he would stubbornly pursue them all and welcome them back into his loving arms. Even if it would take an entire lifetime, he would also do his best to make it up to them.
Evidently, Empyrean Scarletsea was one such person who still valued their old relationship and never stopped loving him.
Considering Varuna’s heavy destiny, Vaan believed Vanitas would have died one way or another, even if he did not choose to sacrifice himself for Empyrean Scarletsea back then.
Even though fate was beyond his control, Vaan still felt like he owed Empyrean Scarletsea too much.
While his sacrifice was of noble intent, his choice was also a cruel one; he forced her to live on alone in misery and grief. If they had perished together back then, she would not have to suffer like this, even if she awakened her past-life memories later.
