Chapter 1225: Dead Lands in the North, Crystal Nest in the South (2)

For a moment, Divine Lord Vaelith became indecisive, unable to make a choice.

Whether it was Undying Fiends or the Edge Sweepers, they were both terrible threats. No one wished to be pursued by any of them, especially the latter.

Undying Fiends were only dangerous due to their undying nature. At least for Divine Lords, encountering them still offered a chance of survival. Even many weaker survivors could escape with the help of a Divine Lord, unless they were caught by surprise and surrounded, which occurred today.

However, that was also because they had enjoyed peace for too long, which had lowered their vigilance. Otherwise, they would have been fully ready to flee before the Undying Fiends could get so close.

On the other hand, the Edge Sweepers were different.

Edge Sweepers were far more powerful and possessed terrifying tracking abilities. It was very difficult to shake one off their trail. Even if they could flee far away from one, the Edge Sweeper might still be on their tail.

Furthermore, the Edge Sweepers themselves also carried other forms of danger, such as the crystal dust. If even one particle of crystal dust contacted the body or even entered it, they would be doomed.

As such, compared to the Dead Lands, the Crystal Nest was far more terrifying.

No one in the tribe had the courage to travel through the Crystal Nest’s vast territory. A single moment of carelessness could cost them a limb or doom them for a lifetime.

Since Empyrean Oceanheart’s group was fleeing from the Edge Sweeper, it indicated that they lacked the means to deal with it.

As such, following them would also just put the Proud Ember Tribe in further danger.

Divine Lord Vaelith sighed with disappointment as he realized these details. It seemed they were fated to never leave the Umbral Edge.

Just as his thoughts followed down this path, his heart surged with unwillingness

No!

He couldn’t accept this fate!

If even Soul Masters and True Divinities couldn’t escape the Umbral Edge, then no one else can! Equally, if anyone could escape the Umbral Edge, it would most likely be Soul Masters and True Divinities!

Empyrean Oceanheart’s group’s inability to deal with the Edge Sweeper didn’t prove that it would also be impossible in the future.

It only showed they were inexperienced and unfamiliar with the Umbral Edge!

As long as they accumulated enough experience and knowledge, they might be able to find a way to deal with the Edge Sweeper or even escape the Umbral Edge in the future!

Vaan already showed enough capability in dealing with the Undying Fiends.

If this group couldn’t do it, then no one else can.

They only had this one chance.

Divine Lord Vaelith quickly realized that if his tribe didn’t cling to this group, they may never get such an opportunity again.

"I still hope my tribe can follow Your Excellencies," Divine Lord Vaelith voiced his heart’s wish.

"Considering Lord Vaan’s ability to easily deal with the Undying Fiends, this Humble One sincerely believes your group will eventually find a way to deal with the Crystal Nest’s Edge Sweepers." ɽÀɴȪᛒĘṤ

"After all, you can already deal with the Undying Fiends. At the very least, I believe we have a better chance at survival if we follow your group," Divine Lord Vaelith stated.

"You’ve been mentioning Edge Sweepers. Could it be that there is more than one Edge Sweeper in the Crystal Nest?" Empyrean Oceanheart frowned.

"Exactly, Your Divinity." Divine Lord Vaelith affirmed with multiple nods, adding, "During our early days in the Umbral Edge, this Humble One encountered at least three different types of Edge Sweepers."

"One was a whale-type Void Beast, another was a dragon-type Void Beast, and the last one was a turtle-type Void Beast."

"The Crystal Nest is very vast. This Humble One did not explore it too deeply, yet still encountered three Edge Sweepers in my early years. I’m sure these Edge Sweepers weren’t the only ones there."

"There must be many more!" Divine Lord Vaelith strongly believed without any proof.

However, his reasoning wasn’t unfounded. It was most likely true.

At the very least, everyone understood that all of the Void Beasts in the Crystal Nest were likely parasitized to become Edge Sweepers.

That said, Void Beasts shouldn’t be limited to the Crystal Nest. Thus, what had become of the Void Beasts in other regions, such as the Dead Lands?

Vaan was curious about this. .

"We plan to enter the Dead Lands and hunt some more Undying Fiends. Are you sure that your tribe wishes to follow us?"

When Vaan asked this question, not only was Divine Lord Vaelith startled, but even Empyrean Oceanheart and Seraphina were too. He did not discuss this decision with them beforehand.

Nevertheless, Divine Lord Vaelith was the most startled one.

He had only known of people who sought to run away from the Undying Fiends. This was the first time he seen someone wanting to seek them out.

Wasn’t that pure foolishness?

"May this Humble One as why you wish enter the Dead Lands to hunt more Undying Fiends, Your Excellency? The Dead Lands is not a good place."

Empyean Oceanheart and Seraphina also glanced at Vaan, awaiting his answer.

Vaan also glanced back at them before sheepishly saying, "It was my fault. I didn’t give it enough thought before wiping out the last group of Undying Fiends. As such, I couldn’t extract any useful information from them."

Originally, he intended to learn more information on the Dead Lands from the Proud Ember Tribe.

Unfortunately, who knew that Divine Lord Vaelith, the tribe’s representative, knew so little?

If he had known this earlier, he definitely would have spared a couple of Undying Fiends, so he could study them later. After all, it wouldn’t expend much effort to keep a few captive.

Moreover, extracting information from them would also be simple.

During the confrontation with the Undying Fiends, Vaan had discovered that their soul states were similar to the system’s. They were hollowed souls, lacking consciousness and incapable of thought.

Such a soul state would make the Undying Fiends extremely easy to possess and control, let alone read through their memories.

It was no wonder that they were controlled like puppets.

"If I can capture another Undying Fiend, I’ll definitely be able to learn something more useful about the Dead Lands."

Divine Lord Vaelith immediately blushed with shame when he heard this comment.

’I’m sorry for being useless!’ he mentally cried.
