Chapter 1190: Stage Two
Chapter 1190: Stage Two
The Smoldering Maw battlefield.
The Evure soldiers inched closer to the base of the active volcano as the Asuras kept losing their men.
The generals standing at the back line could not keep still anymore.
A nine feet tall burly general in fur coat jumped at the frontlines, smashing his club into the Evure soldiers' heads.
Heads burst like soap bubbles getting popped and once again began a round of carnage.
The Evure generals, namely Roy and the Sixth Pillar watched from afar with an expressionless face, as if everything was under control.
Back on the cliff where Lith was, he could see a bishop move from the black side and threaten to kill the pawns one by one.
Lith was unfazed and said, "Fei, move the knight to capture the bishop."
Fei nodded and as the pieces moved, a surprising turn of events occurred.
The bishop did not fight the knight, instead it went around and a few moves later, another bishop and knight came out from the enemy side to capture this one knight.
Lith found it interesting.
Roy would be in danger if he charged at the frontlines, possibly ending up getting buried in this battlefield.
"Ask Roy to fight that General." Lith issued the command.
Fei raised an eyebrow in interest, wondering what her Master was up to. This was clearly asking Roy to go on a suicide mission.
Though, she was in no position to question him. Actually, it didn't matter much to her whether Roy lived or died. She just felt it was a pity to see an important piece get sacrificed so early.
Fei was unaware of the corruption in the golden threads coming out of Roy. It was inevitable she thought in such a manner.
Sylvia, from the side, got to work and sent Roy the message through one of her butterflies.
On the battlefield, when Roy heard the command, he frowned. He frowned hard.
'What's this command? Is he asking me to go die?'
Roy was fully aware of his abilities. He could take on a general easily but on this battlefield, there wasn't one but multiple such generals.
To make a move was very risky. He wasn't a fool to have not charged at the frontlines so far.
If he went there, the battlefield could have turned upside down a lot earlier.
However, Roy couldn't find any reason to refute the command.
With what face could he do that?
His life was already in Lith's hand. If he turned back, he could get killed in suspicion of rebellion.
Roy bit his lip, hard. His fangs pierced the flesh and made him taste his own blood.
With clenched fists, he shouted to the Sixth Pillar, "Make sure to not let anyone assassinate me!"
"Go ahead." The Sixth Pillar said calmly, giving Roy some confidence.
Roy extended his wings and flapped them once, vanishing from his spot and appearing right in front of the burly General.
With a quick fist, Roy tried to pierce the general's liver, only to find the General jumping back.
The General wasn't stupid and took a few more steps back, laughing at Roy like a maniac.
"To think the EGC generals would act like absolute fools."
Saying so, the general whistled.
Shadowy figures made their appearance on the battlefield and surrounded Roy.
There was no need to do assassinations when they had a number advantage.
Five people surrounded Roy and all of them were Legendary Rank beings.
One of them was a Marquis in the AGC's main world, a noble of high caliber.
The Asuras were on their wits end. They were willing to use any and every weapon in their arsenal by now.
Most of their forces were still fighting in different places. The EGC forces that entered Octavia were still not as big of a number, otherwise the Asuras would've called back everyone and focused on this place completely.
To call back troops meant losing multiple economic and strategic positions. Such losses would take a very long time to recover. The Asuras might not be the second most powerful force in Shen Ze by then, and getting back up would be next to impossible due to pressure from the Central Alliance and the EGC.
In any case, the generals here were enough to capture one general of the EGC. They knew who Roy was and were also aware of the Sixth Pillar. Both houses had spies planted, they naturally had the knowledge of such key figures.
Both sides did not talk and immediately engaged in battle.
The Marquis Asura made hand seals and a flashing magic circle above Roy's head sent a barrage of lightning.
Roy's wings went into overdrive and flapped hard, dodging the lightning rain.
A golden spear made of Light manifested in his hands. Spinning it, Roy sent it flying at a chanting general in black robes. He appeared inconspicuous but did not miss Roy's acute vision.
"Guhhh…"
The spear hit the figure's chest and interrupted the chant, causing a severe backlash.
Roy didn't stop and extended his hand up, the same Light spear appeared in his palms.
Using it like a rod, he blocked the physical attacks of the generals nearby.
'I can only block a few more of these! Aghhh!'
Roy was pushed back and made to manifest another spear to block attacks from behind himself.
From afar, Lith watched the battlefield with folded hands.
"Sylvia, initiate stage two."
Sylvia nodded and stood up. She walked to the edge of the cliff and began casting spells.
Moments later.
Space distorted over the ablaze skies of Octavia as multiple gray gates opened up.
The generals fighting Roy immediately paused and took a step back to have a look.
Roy finally got a chance to breathe and distanced himself.
Covered in multiple deep wounds and bleeding from his forehead, he breathed profusely as he stared at the skies.
"Fuck!" Roy exclaimed. 'If you had something like that in tow, then use it sooner!'
The eyes of the generals reflected the orange sky. Multiple black dots could be seen emerging out from the gates.
The burly General could not help but comment, "Son of a bitch…"
