Chapter 3848: The Senior Brothers Are Waiting
Chapter 3848: The Senior Brothers Are Waiting
The twins immediately looked less excited hearing Lin Mu’s words, while Ashy tilted her head. Little Shrubby though remained attentive as if already knowing what Lin Mu was about to say.
"Do not bother the sect members," Lin Mu said. "If someone sees you, leave. Don’t attack them."
"What if they attack us?" Xiao Yang asked.
"Run."
"What if they chase us?" Xiao Yin added.
"Keep running."
"What if they’re faster?"
Lin Mu looked at the twins. "Then you can defend yourselves."
The twins immediately brightened.
"But only enough to escape," Lin Mu added.
Their excitement disappeared. "Aww."
"No mayhem," Lin Mu continued.
The twins looked innocent.
Lin Mu stared at them sternly. "No mayhem."
"We don’t cause mayhem," Xiao Yin said.
"We are very peaceful," Xiao Yang agreed.
Lin Mu remembered the hundred meter long gulley Xiao Yin had created while drunk. He said nothing as the twins slowly looked away.
Lin Mu turned toward Ashy. "No stealing."
Ashy froze. "I don’t steal."
"You collect shiny trinkets."
"Yes."
"That belong to other people."
Ashy thought for a moment. "They shouldn’t leave them where I can see them."
Lin Mu stared at her and Ashy lowered her head. "Fine."
Lin Mu finally looked at Shrubby and the liger immediately understood. "I’ll watch them."
"Good." Shrubby was the eldest among Lin Mu’s beasts in terms of hierarchy of arrival and easily the most responsible... Usually.
Lin Mu still remembered several occasions where Shrubby had become equally enthusiastic once food became involved.
"And what if you can’t handle them?" Lin Mu asked.
Shrubby answered immediately. "Then I pick them up and run away as far as possible."
Lin Mu nodded approvingly. "Good."
The twins looked offended.
"You can’t catch us," Xiao Yin said.
Shrubby looked at her. "Yes, I can."
"We’re fast."
"I’m faster."
"We can hide."
"I can smell you."
Xiao Yang looked at Xiao Yin. "He has advantages."
"Unfair advantages."
Shrubby gave a proud huff. Lin Mu felt considerably more reassured. If the twins caused trouble, Shrubby could simply grab them and disappear. Few beings within the Inner Court continent could match Little Shrubby’s speed.
Even if someone noticed the disturbance, they would probably find nothing by the time they arrived.
Lin Mu gave the four beasts one final warning. "Remember. This entire world belongs to the sect. The forests, mountains, lakes, and even the beasts living here are technically within their territory. If you cause a large disturbance, someone might investigate."
The four nodded and even Ashy looked serious... For three seconds.
Then she started bouncing excitedly. "Let’s go!"
The twins immediately shot toward the trees as Shrubby followed and Ashy flew after them.
Before disappearing, the tiny bird suddenly turned around. "I’ll listen out for any rumors too, Master!"
Lin Mu raised his brows.
Ashy continued flying backward while speaking. "I’ll see if I can find anything about the vault. I memorized the symbol!"
Then she turned and vanished among the trees.
Lin Mu smiled. "She at least remembers."
"Do not underestimate that bird," Xukong said. "Her obsession with gossip might actually prove useful."
"It already has before."
Lin Mu resumed walking and he reached his courtyard soon after. Thankfully, he had returned at the right time as two disciples were standing outside the building. They looked as if they had been waiting for a while.
The moment they saw Little Bull approaching, both turned toward him.
"Junior Brother!"
"Where did you go?"
Little Bull stopped.
One of the disciples suddenly remembered something. "Did you go to the library like Brother Liang suggested?"
Little Bull nodded. "Yes."
The two disciples relaxed. Lin Mu could tell that they had actually been slightly worried.
"What did you get?" the first disciple asked. "Show us!"
The second disciple walked closer. "We can give you pointers too."
Little Bull reached into his new storage pendant and took out several manuals. The two disciples immediately grabbed them.
"Multiplying Fist Technique." The first disciple nodded. "Good choice."
He picked up another. "Stone Skin Guard."
Then another. "Charging Bull Shoulder."
The disciple looked at Little Bull and then looked at the manual, before looking at Little Bull again. "This one suits you."
"Because my name is Bull?" Little Bull asked.
The disciple hesitated. "...Yes."
The second disciple was already examining the other manuals.
"Oh, I know this one." He held up the Multiplying Fist Technique.
"I practiced it for eighty years."
"Is it good?" Little Bull asked.
"Very good."
"Then why did you stop?"
The disciple became silent.
His companion laughed. "He punched for three days and forgot to circulate his vitality properly. Both his arms swelled until they were thicker than his legs."
"That happened once!"
"You couldn’t bend your elbows for a month."
"I recovered!"
"You needed Elder Fan to feed you."
The disciple’s face darkened.
Little Bull stared at him. "Did he use a spoon?"
The first disciple burst out laughing.
The second disciple glared. "Don’t ask."
Little Bull nodded obediently. "I won’t."
The first disciple wiped his eyes.
"I can guide you through two of these." He pointed at the Charging Bull Shoulder and Stone Skin Guard.
The second disciple sighed. "I can teach the Multiplying Fist Technique."
Little Bull smiled. "Thank you, Senior Brothers."
"No need for thanks." The two waved their hands. "That’s what senior brothers are for."
The first disciple looked toward the distant training grounds. "Come. We can practice before the food gets ready."
Little Bull looked at the sky.
He had been underground for so long that he had lost track of the normal meal times. "Did I miss breakfast?"
The two disciples looked at each other and then they laughed. "Junior Brother, the name of the meal doesn’t matter."
Little Bull blinked when the first disciple placed a hand on his shoulder. "If you’ve already eaten breakfast, you can eat another breakfast."
The second disciple nodded seriously. "Exactly."
Then he paused. "Isn’t that called brunch?"
The first disciple frowned. "What’s brunch?"
"Breakfast and lunch together."
"That’s stupid."
"Why?"
"Why combine meals?"
The second disciple opened his mouth and then closed it when he couldn’t find words.
The first disciple continued. "Two meals are better than one meal."
Little Bull nodded. "That makes sense."
The second disciple looked between them.
He suddenly seemed to question his own understanding of the world. "Maybe brunch is a scam."
"Exactly!" The first disciple slapped him on the back.
BANG
The impact produced a loud boom, making the second disciple stumble forward. "Come, Junior Brother. We’ll train first."
"And then eat."
Little Bull followed them. "Can we eat before training, too?"
The two disciples stopped, and they slowly turned around as their expressions became serious.
Then the first disciple smiled. "Junior Brother."
The second disciple nodded. "You really do belong here."
The three immediately changed direction. The training could wait, but second breakfast came first.
