Chapter 3966: Hopeful Star Pavilion
Chapter 3966: Hopeful Star Pavilion
The Virtuous Calamity Daoist had existed in an era far older than Zhenyu’s. Even the Mad Demon himself belonged to an incredibly ancient period, and Zhenyu had only obtained fragments of information regarding the relationship between the two.
Still, there were traces.
Lin Mu discovered several records mentioning treasures associated with the Virtuous Calamity Daoist.
Some of his belongings had apparently been taken by the Heavenly Stream Guardian Sect after his death. Several weapons were mentioned in old records, along with a few cultivation resources and other miscellaneous treasures.
There were also references to certain inheritances. Yet there was no direct mention of the vault Lin Mu sought. He frowned slightly as he reached the end of another section.
"Nothing." He closed his eyes and thought for a moment.
That was frustrating, though it was hardly surprising. If the vault had been openly recorded somewhere, there was little chance it would have remained hidden for so long. Lin Mu continued searching.
Eventually, another name appeared: Hopeful Star Pavilion.
Lin Mu immediately stopped.
"Again?" He stared at the name for several seconds.
He had already encountered it during Zhenyu’s memories, though at that time he had considered it little more than another ancient faction. Now that he was actively searching for connections surrounding the Virtuous Calamity Daoist, the name immediately stood out.
Lin Mu leaned back and began reading everything Zhenyu had recorded regarding the faction. The Hopeful Star Pavilion had been relatively young during Zhenyu’s era. It had formed around the same period that Zhenyu had risen through the ranks of the Wild Peak.
It was not an official organization recognized by the Heavenly Stream Guardian Sect. Rather, it had started as a group formed by several disciples and elders who shared similar ambitions and interests.
Such groups were common within large sects. Disciples gathered together, developed friendships, exchanged information and occasionally formed alliances that could influence the internal politics of their sect.
Of course most disappeared after a few generations but the Hopeful Star Pavilion had been different. According to Zhenyu’s records, the group had grown rapidly as several influential disciples had joined it and even a few elders had also been connected to the group.
Their influence expanded through information trading, resource exchanges and various businesses conducted between members and outsiders. They apparently had an extensive network of contacts, and their greatest strength was their ability to acquire information that ordinary disciples could never obtain.
Lin Mu’s eyes narrowed. "So that’s how Zhenyu found the Mad Demon Depths."
He continued reading.
The Hopeful Star Pavilion had apparently learned that Zhenyu was searching for a way to increase his strength. The young Junior Elder had already possessed exceptional talent and had accumulated considerable achievements, yet he remained dissatisfied with his cultivation speed.
Someone from the pavilion approached him. They did not directly tell him that the Mad Demon Depths contained an ancient experiment. Instead, they presented it as a rumor that there was supposedly an ancient place beneath the sect’s territory.
A place where an ancient expert had once conducted experiments related to longevity. A place where remnants of those experiments still existed. And a place where a cultivator might find opportunities that could greatly improve their cultivation.
Zhenyu had been interested immediately and that single rumor had eventually led him into the Mad Demon Depths.
Lin Mu slowly rubbed his chin. "The Hopeful Star Pavilion knew enough to point him here."
That alone made them interesting, but the question was how they had obtained the information.
Zhenyu’s records provided little answer.
He had only interacted with a handful of Hopeful Star Pavilion members. He had recorded several names, though he had also written that those names might have been aliases or names that were no longer relevant.
Lin Mu understood why. Zhenyu had entered the Mad Demon Depths more than a hundred and ten thousand years ago. Over such an enormous period, entire generations of cultivators would have risen and fallen.
Even immortal cultivators could not casually ignore such a passage of time. Still Lin Mu scanned the names but most meant nothing to him. Then one name made his eyes stop.
"Deng Siqi?" Something about the name felt familiar and Lin Mu stared at it.
He had encountered countless names throughout his life. Ancient cultivators often had similar names, and there was always a possibility that two completely unrelated people shared the same name.
Still, this one bothered him.
"Where have I heard that before?" Lin Mu closed the jade token for a moment and searched through his memories.
Several names surfaced but none were quite right. Then another memory emerged related to Lady Kang. The information she had once provided regarding the Supreme Elder of the Eastern Immortal Court.
The man was known publicly by his title: The Heavenly Stream Immortal Daoist.
His true identity was shrouded in layers of secrecy and even his original name was uncertain. Lady Kang had given Lin Mu several possibilities. Some were rumors, some were old records and some were names that had appeared in obscure historical documents.
Among those names was Deng Siqi.
Lin Mu’s eyes widened. "The Heavenly Stream Immortal Daoist."
He opened the jade token again and stared at the ancient record.
"Deng Siqi." The two names suddenly seemed to overlap.
Lin Mu remained silent for a long time. There was a tremendous difference between finding an ancient name and finding a possible connection to one of the oldest living experts in the Eastern Immortal Court.
The Heavenly Stream Immortal Daoist was an extraordinary existence.
He had survived for an incredibly long period and had reached the level of a multiple Transcendent Tribulation Immortal. His position within the Eastern Immortal Court placed him among the most powerful and influential figures not only in the region but across the entire four Immortal Courts of the Immortal Realm
If this Deng Siqi was the same person, then the implications were enormous.
Lin Mu’s fingers tapped lightly against the jade token. "Could they really be the same person?"
