Chapter 3990: Revealing Who He Is

Chapter 3990: Revealing Who He Is

Lin Mu finally looked at the Old High Elder..

The elder continued, "You keep speaking as though you were here over a hundred thousand years ago."

Lin Mu’s expression became solemn and for the first time since they had arrived, the arrogance on his face faded slightly.

"That," Lin Mu said, "is because I was."

Silence descended across the group and several elders stared at him.

The Law Division High Elder frowned deeply. "Impossible."

Lin Mu’s eyes sharpened.

"Junior," he said quietly, "you have called me an imposter, questioned my robes, questioned my authority, and now you question my age. Continue down this path and I may begin questioning whether the Law Division still teaches manners."

The elder’s face darkened but before he could respond, another spatial fluctuation appeared. A black dot formed several hundred meters away and rapidly expanded into a portal.

Then another appeared and several more. It was clear that more elders were arriving.

Lin Mu sensed powerful auras approaching from multiple directions as well. Some were moving through the air, while others were using spatial techniques. The entire region surrounding the Mad Demon Depths was quickly becoming crowded.

’This might become troublesome,’ Lin Mu thought.

Xukong’s voice sounded within his mind.

"Troublesome? You punched a hole through their ancient prison, announced your arrival to half the sect, and then started scolding the first group sent to investigate."

Lin Mu maintained his stern expression. ’I needed a convincing entrance.’

"You certainly achieved the entrance part." Xukong laughed.

Lin Mu ignored him for now as he had more people to focus on. The oldest-looking High Elder among the first group stepped forward. His expression was considerably calmer than those around him.

"If what you claim is true," the elder said, "then state your name."

Lin Mu looked at him as this was the moment he had been preparing for.

He straightened slightly and his already massive frame seemed to become even more imposing as his hands moved behind his back. His white hair stirred in the wind, while the lingering spatial distortions around the crater caused his robes to flutter.

He looked across the assembled elders, then toward the distant Mad Demon Depths. There was something almost nostalgic within his gaze.

When Lin Mu finally spoke, his voice carried across the plains. "Wild Peak."

The Man Peak elders immediately focused upon him.

Lin Mu continued. "Junior Elder of the Heavenly Stream Guardian Sect. Disciple of Wild Peak. Creator of the Shifting Earth, Churning Sea Dual Refinement Art."

Several expressions changed and one of the oldest elders suddenly went pale.

Lin Mu saw the recognition. ’Good.’

His voice grew heavier. "This old man is Mengli Zhenyu."

The effect was immediate and the elder who had gone pale took an involuntary step backward. "Zhenyu?"

Another elder frowned. "Mengli Zhenyu?"

A Sword Division High Elder looked toward his companion. "Why does that name sound familiar?"

The oldest elder stared at Lin Mu as though he had just seen a corpse climb from its grave.

"Junior Elder Mengli Zhenyu of Wild Peak," he whispered. "The Earth Sea Tyrant."

Lin Mu almost broke character.

’Earth Sea Tyrant?’ He had never seen that title in the records.

Xukong chuckled inside his mind. "It suits you."

Lin Mu ignored him with considerable effort.

The elder continued staring at him. "But Junior Elder Zhenyu disappeared over a hundred thousand years ago."

Lin Mu slowly turned his head toward the enormous crater behind him. Then he looked down into the abyss he had blasted through before, he finally looked back at the elders.

"Yes," Lin Mu said and his expression became deeply irritated. "I noticed."

Several elders became speechless.

Lin Mu lifted one hand and pointed toward the Mad Demon Depths. "I have spent longer beneath that accursed ground than most of your bloodlines have existed, and after finally digging myself out, the first welcome I receive is twenty juniors calling me an imposter."

His gaze swept across them. "You should all be ashamed."

The Man Peak elder who had nearly challenged him earlier suddenly found the distant horizon very interesting. The Sword Division elders were exchanging hurried voice transmissions.

The Law Division elder remained suspicious, though he no longer looked certain.

Then Lin Mu delivered the final blow.

"And where is the Wild Peak?" he demanded but nobody answered.

Lin Mu’s eyes narrowed. "I emerge from the Mad Demon Depths after more than a hundred thousand years, and you tell me there is not a single Wild Peak elder among the first response?"

The assembled High Elders suddenly looked uncomfortable when Lin Mu took one heavy step forward.

KACHA

The earth cracked beneath his foot even though he didn’t even touch it.

"Did my Wild Peak become so pathetic while I was gone?" Lin Mu barked.

"No," one elder answered instinctively and Lin Mu turned toward him.

The man hesitated. "There are circumstances."

Lin Mu’s expression darkened. "What circumstances?"

The elders exchanged glances and that reaction alone told Lin Mu everything he needed.

He folded his arms. "Speak."

The oldest elder sighed. "The Wild Peak is currently involved in a dispute with the Law Division."

Lin Mu slowly turned his gaze toward the Law Division elders and several of them suddenly wished they had been assigned somewhere else.

"A dispute," Lin Mu repeated while the oldest elder nodded.

Lin Mu looked toward the distant Wild Peak and his expression became increasingly severe.

"Very well," he said.

The surrounding elders tensed when Lin Mu cracked his neck.

CRACK

The sound echoed like stones breaking.

"I have been trapped underground for a hundred thousand years. I suppose I can spare a few minutes to hear what stupidity my juniors have gotten themselves involved in."

The Law Division High Elder immediately felt that the situation was about to become significantly worse.

And judging by the increasingly powerful auras approaching from every direction, he had the distinct feeling that within the next few minutes, explaining the sudden return of a Junior Elder who had supposedly died over a hundred thousand years ago would become the least troublesome part of his day.
